this is some of the sexiest painting I have seen on such a large scale...

I love your highlighting and freehand work...

Also the bright, clean colours and lines... it makes a change from all the grimdark/dameged/corroded lok on most models these days!!

where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!

It looks great, and you pull off this style well but can we see you try a different, more realistic weathered style. Part of these is that we want to see you and explore avenues that you wouldn't normally paint own. My painting has most definitely improved thanks to dakka and I've tried methods that I wouldn't otherwise have bothered with...

It doesn't make much sense to change styes mid army tho.

It wouldnt look good to have the rest of the army driving around in clean rhinos, with clean armor and clean dreadnaughts/drop pods and have a super weathered land raider.

My Blood Ravens are committed to a style and altering it on certain models would cause those models to look out of place and impact on the cohesive look of the army as a whole.

So the Blood Ravens will not be having a y sort of dirty weathered style applied to them as it would ruin their cohesiveness as a force on the tabletop, sorry.

I even go as far as to dumb down techniques i have improved vastly upon (such as my power weapons) so that new models don't look too different from the first ones I painted.

Perhaps with my all dreadnaught Blood Angels or my Sons of Horus I might try something new, like some weathering, but I will never attempt to paint in a 'realistic' style.

I prefer cartoony, bright colours in the evy metal styles, not subded realistic colours.

I came to this same conclusion on my Mantis Warriors. I love the look of weathered vehicles & troops, and would like to try it... but for good or ill my army has a "show room floor" look that I think is going to have to stand. Your army looks fantastic and really shows off your painting skills well. This is the way these armies would look in-between and at the beginnings of campaigns. I don't think that with the pride and tradition that the Astartes have, they would allow damaged, beaten up machinery & armor to stay that way for long.

Finished at last. Gabriel Angelous and his full Honour Guard. Ready for my 2k tournament next month.

"Long ago, the Emperor foresaw humanity's need for warriors unlike any others.
Warriors who could face the unbareable horror lurking among the stars.
Who, when all others fled, would strike at that horror's very heart.
Who, on the day of certain defeat...would be victorious.
Brothers, we are those warriors...
And that day....is TODAY!""

Mostly, on my phone.

Stunning work mate. Beautiful conversions, and the standard bearer in particular is an inspiration.

Fantastic work RP! Conversions are executed very nicely and good job getting rid of all the ultramarine symbols. The NMM on GA looks great too!

the chapter champion (thunder hammer bearer) is an almagamation of several kits.

Helmet is general tac marine, chest plate is tac sergeant mk VIII, pointing hand is from devestator box, right hand is from the commander sprue, hammer is from a terminator, backpack is space marine commander, wings are from the empire general standard, the helmet wings are from a ravenwing box set, the legs are from the dark angel's veteran box.

Hi! I must just ask: how did you manage to do that snow on those bases? it looks like ice at the bottom with snow ontop, like it has melted and frozen again. very realistic and frosty

Your painting and blending of colours is superb. I need to get painting and improving!

Keep up the good work. Sorry if you've covered this already, but how do you build up your whites for the cloaks etc.?

Made in jp

The cloaks are started with Astronicon grey, then 50/50 grey and white, then finally 2 coats of thin white (if you mean the inside of the cloaks).

The snow is just Gale force 9 snow mixed with PVA glue and water, then you sprinkle fresh snow flock on the top, to make the top look unmelted.

God-damn your talent blows me away, I love the little touches you add to your models, especially the signing all of the litanies on the rhino. Great use of GK parts too.

To kind of echo prime though is the first combi-plasma a scratchbuild?
