lol I'm pretty dull on facebook too. I'm not sure I even log in once a month, and when I do log in, I'm not sure what I'm doing there so I log off. Good times. I use to be a big fan of Myspace back in the day though, before everyone left.

The last time I logged on was about a year ago and I think I had 3 friends, was a member of 1 group and had zero photos up
What I found most amusing was I set up an account using my avatar - a character I played in Eve, for the purpose of corp communications - it never got used for that but the account had about a hundred friend requests from complete strangers all over the world in a few months
Dysates - Is all your stuff going on the showcase now? I wondered why I hadn't seen any of your stuff for some time.

[With apologies to Ifalna, as I seem to be accidentally hijacking her blog]
Yes, monkeytroll - I'd found that my blog was getting a very low response rate, even when updating at the weekly level. I was getting a fair few views, but no-one seemed to be taking much of an interest. Now, the fact I paint to a TT standard, rather than a show standard, and tend to jump around from subject to subject may have had something to do with that.
Either way, with a fairly hefty drop-off in painting in Q4 last year, I decided to make a clean break of it and start with a new thread in 2012.

What? That sounds like an amazingly intense life. Cakes are serious business and only for the truly hardcore. Cuppa tea's are totally out of my league, way too extreme for me to possibly handle.

I think its such a big deal for me as I live in such a quiet area, actually managing some socialising online is important to keep me sane. Hopefully that will change when we move to a village in the near future, I don't want to end up a crazy hermit lady.

I've been helping run a Legend of the Five Rings CCG event at my FLGS - though I did manage to finish off three Stormsmiths before I went.
Currently trying to decide whether to work on my SS Vampyr, Mariner heavy warjack, unit of 6 Stormguard, Baldur the Stonecleaver or Gudrun the Wanderer next - or to assemble the Swamp Troll I picked up yesterday.

Book on monitor, mini on desk, tea in mug by hand! If you want to relax to the max, you gots to multitask.

I love herbal and fruit teas, but marketing something as a breakfast tea with no caffeine is surely sacrilege?

Oh wow, you have been busy! You should start on all the mini's and you will find one is holding your attention more than the others, thats how I decide if I have a couple to go at the same time It could work for you too.
I finished off the Astropath for now, may well be more changes to come if JB would like anything altered
Happy that I kept him relatively dark while getting some nice rich tones, his staff is quite nice but the metals just don't show that well in photos sadly. Sliiight additional shine on him, but the varnish will dry nice and matte by tomorrow.

Oh no, I bought two types of teas yesterday. An Irish Breakfast tea, and a Vanilla Rooibos tea... Much like with my harder drinks, the Irish provided what I wanted. The rooibos tea is not real tea, but it smells awesome
And now for a little on topic talk
That astropath looks awesome. The purple looks really great against the green.

Perhaps he doesn't know that she thinks he's a little monkey man? Well, he can thank the Jokero for that!
He looks good, Ifalna. The robes look velvety. The staff looks very nice - almost warm.
The only bits that seem off are the aquila belt buckle and the skulls below on the bottom of his cords. In the photo, they almost blend (color wise) in with the cords. I'm torn. On the one hand, that allows the Astropath's face and hands to really stand out which is something that appeals to me. His face almost has a saintly quality. It "pops", which is exactly what I wanted. On the other hand, my tinkering nature makes me wonder how it would look if the aquila had a sepia wash over it (to give it more of a golden look) , and if the skulls had a green or blue wash to make them look like a metallic color rather than silver. Would that end up detracting from his face by being too busy?
Go ahead and move on to your next project. I'll have to mull over this and if I ever make up my mind, I'll try it out myself much later. I may have to test some washes over metal.

His silver bits are Mithril over darkened Boltgun, they don't show very well I agree, because my camera just plain cannot-into-metals. They really do stand about against the white cords, they just come across quite flat white in the shots :( Ill get you another shot tomorrow in day light and you can have a look, I will have no problem altering them if they still look off

I have to admit that the anticipation for a Goblin with Golden Shoes is killing me...and he's not even my mini. Dysartes, I have to admit that I keep thinking of flying monkeys every time I see that metal goblin and I have no idea why. There's no logical connection.
EDIT: And I had to look up Underberg since Weety mentioned it. I have no idea why anyone would drink a digestif bitter though.

Haha, the wee golden shoes are done! I took shots but having only the gold finished on a very early WIP mini looks, em, terrible. He is far more progressed now but is in his early messy skin stages so actually looks even worse. Early highlight stages for my detailed work always look complete gak, almost disheartening, but hey, just have to keep building on it, haha!
JB I took some shots of the Astropath to try and show the silver better, but my camera just aint up for it. Even with the flash I'm still getting a flat finish, it is so strange, I have no idea how to get the metals to reflect nicely. If you want me to go ahead with the washes then its no problemo!

No worries. Don't change a thing. I'll wait until I see the Astropath in hand. I'm not sure I want more varied color distinction anyway since I want all attention focused on the upper part of him.
