This is a new kit. There was a kit of the same mech design in the early 1980s, probably from Bandai and may have been re-released in the USA by Revell or someone.

Yes, it was Robotech Defenders by Revell. Great days.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Ooooh, only $53 USD That's getting tempting.
Swap out the 1/72 dual-cockpit for a single seat 28mm and it would be perfect!

Takara, actually. Bandai never had Dougram's license. If you can believe it though, Takara actually produced a Dougram tabletop wargame. It's pretty hard to come by now, though.

Ah, the Korchima Battalion Special. The basic Soltic Roundfacer was their second plastic kit, so it has some shortcomings. I'm curious if they corrected them for the Korchima Special. The basic Roundfacer's arms like to constantly fall off. Let us know if this version has the same issue.

Good Point. Not sure whether I'll go as-is and call it a variant or scratch something hand-held.

Either way doesn't matter too much. For our 28mm "Mech Attack" games we aren't technically in the BT unvierse anyway. I just have a love for the BT universe so many of our mechs are designs that were used in Battletech: Robotech toys, Macross Kits and Mechwarrior action figures to name a few.
This is this year's Adepticon game that used them:
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/2017/03/30/aar-mech-attack-at-adepticon-2017/

Still, a hand-mounted weapon isn't hard to do. MIssile Launchers (the kind that actually fire projectiles) from 3.75" figures like GIJoe and Star Wars are the perfect size for 7" Mecha. Here's two kits I made guns for that way. They had been built by someone years ago (needed a repaint and cleanup bad) and had no weapons.

I'll let you know how it works at first. If they are loose I'll just glue them. Many of my Mechs have poseable limbs but the ones that get loose just get glued in place.

Could be both. Tho TRO 3025 had a hand held PPC other pics in the really old art had the wrist mounted version. I guess it depends of the artists using different Round Facer versions from the original source.

Dang you guys know your stuff! I didn't even bother to dig out my old books. I just went by what I thought I remembered. Good to know I've got options.

Oh. Generalstoner is probably closer to the iconic image. The most popular version was the handheld PPC one after all, you could always say that the wrist mounted one is a Free Worlds League variant with a large laser. Marik was always fond of LLaser models as they only had one PPC factory in the good olden days of the 4th SW.

Yeah there are two really nice VOTOMS sets on the way. I really want another quality 1/60th VOTOMS so I can replace the legs on my inbound Contemptor dread.

As with most things I find myself liking the bad guys more than the Dogs which are so prevalent. I want Dive Beetles and Tortoises (not Fatties...they're boring).

Very Nice!!!

I do love the 'dogs' and I would totally 'red shoulder' him up , maybe if they have a pilot give him blue hair because reasons?

The Korchima Battalion Special is just an upgrade sprue, so you still have the gun from the Round face kit. It does give you the back pack that a Griffin should have. I haven't had any problems with the arms on mine. The kit is on Amazon for $18!

These decals will be appearing on HLJ in June. There will be sheets for various Gundam serieses, but I thought that the ones for Gallarhorn and Tekkadan might be usefully generic for Imperial Knights, Space Marines and the like.

Thats a re-release of the 2012 model, it's a good kit but being Kotobukia a few of the parts have a very loose fit and the leg joints get very floppy after a few months. And that picture's of the prototype, on mine the lower "jaw" doesn't close flush with the upper half of the cockpit.

Damn nice model over all though, glad I have it. I wonder if this release will have the supper shiny box with artwork from Yuji Shinkawa as well?

It would take a lot of work to make it look Imperial/40K as well. It's a cool kit, but this thread is more becoming a generic "look at cool anime stuff!" rather than real kit-bash or 40K related models.

The first page is all Gundam kits and references to how it has to be a joke since they wouldn't fit in. Personally I find it useful since not everybody plays wih the same aesthetic (see also smurf marines and pony marines).

And some of us no longer play 40k and find the models presented to be useful for other games.

Personally I think it would look fine with a Tau army. Going by the novels, 40k has no firm aesthetic. The art and models we have are a very small cross sampling. Gothic lunacy is more prevalent, but not the sole answer.

Kit bashing random stuff or using stand ins also goes back to the Rogue Trader/2nd ed spirit, and could arguably be more correct.

The A.I.S. mecha from Phantasy Star Online 2 have a release date, now. Both the red and grey versions are due in August, with a 5,000 yen MSRP. So, you should be able to preorder them now for less than that. Their scale is 1/12, which seems oddly small to me. I haven't played the game before, so does anyone know if they're supposed to be manned mecha, or robots?

Manned mecha. You jump in them for some Emergency quests and bosses. They were pretty fun to use back when I still played.

According to what I find, it's a manned 10-meter suit, and the model is 1/72 scale. That would make it 139mm tall, or 5-1/2" tall -- about the same size as a 1/144 scale Gundam kit.

Okay, 1/72 makes way more sense. The listing I saw had them as 1/12 for some reason.

Maybe the "1/12" was in comparison to toy soldiers?

That is, the robot stands as tall as a 1/12-scale person.

Coming in July, Bandai is finally making a new model of the Hamma-Hamma from Double Zeta.

It's a part of the RE/100 series, so this baby is going to be 1/100 scale. Expect it to be around 4,500 yen or so.
Now, the Hamma-Hamma is a big suit, if the original model is anything to go by. The old 1/144 kit from Double Zeta was easily the size of a regular 1/100. So, this thing's going to be a tall kit.
