Character: Brother Aygapus Location: Gunship landing pad. Situation: Approaching the gunship. Aygapus had finally decided that he had probably prayed to the Emperor enough for one mission (he grinned at that, thinking what a field day the Chaplains would have with him if they’d heard that), and made to leave his room. He picked up a viscous looking, serrated combat blade christened ‘Thanatos’, and his customised silenced bolt pistol, as well as a few grenades and a couple of other more…specialist items that a scout may be called upon to use, before slipping into his combat suit. It was refreshing to be wearing the familiar bronze plate again, even if it was just Carapace armour, and for a moment Aygapus reflected on how long it had been since he had last seen any real combat. His tenure with the Inquisition was nearly over, fortunately, and provided his Chapter would accept him back-there were still wounds that may not have healed-he was looking forward to donning his beloved Terminator suit again. After a brisk walk down from the manor, Aygapus arrived at the landing pad. He noted that several members of the Task Force had already arrived-the Stormtroopers, Lucia, and that insolent Guardswomen whose name he believed was Furn. The latter, whilst still hiding her face behind her rebreather, was no doubt giving him an almost contemptuous sneer upon seeing Aygapus’ arrival, whilst the Stormtroopers were too locked in their own conversation to notice. Lucia gave him a courteous nod, which the Space Marine returned. Spying a pile of barrels over in a secluded corner of the safe house, Aygapus perched himself atop them and waited for the rest of the group-specifically, Ronan.

Character: Brother Ronan
Location: On the approach to the Landing Pad.
Situation: Approaching the landingpad.
Brother Ronan walked up the path towards the dropship waiting on the launchpad, he spied several of the people who had already gathered, some patient, some laughing and joking. To his side he spotted Brother Aygapus perched on top of a set of barrels, although Marines seldom need to wile the time away with chatter he was compelled to at least speak with him, if only to learn more about his mindset. He was due to fight along side the man so he at least wanted to have an idea of what to expect from him and so walked over towards the barrels.
"Greetings to you, Brother Aygapus" he said to him as he approached. "I see that you too appriciate a little ... solitude ... from these mortals as well. If I am disturbing then we can talk another time, my purpose for speaking with you is not of great importance" He said in a firm but polite tone.
He looked into his eyes as he awaited an answer, he recognised the look of a hardened veteran, one who had seen many battles and had the scars to show for it. There was also something almost .. sinister in his gaze, a sign of something ingrained within him of a tragic or dark past. He did not dare ask Aygapus of it, such things were the affairs of his Chapter and he had no right to ask and nor would he, only chapters with a long standing history would talk open about such things.

Character: Soric Ghast
Location: Sleeping quarters
situation: can't sleep.
Soric had been lying awake for the past hour, he had gotten enough sleep on the flight to the surface. He got up, and got dressed. Avare told them to go in full battle gear. A waste of resources, he reckoned. Yet, Soric didn't want to anger the inquisitor, so he complied. He put on his drab green carapace armor. His dark green clothing and his drab green armor made him stand out in the confines of the city, but he didn't have another camo pattern, and wasn't told to disguise, so it had to do. He swung his ammo pack over his back, and attached the cable feed to his hellgun. He checked the connection one more time, and checked if the iron sights were set right.

( OOC: ack, you're right! Sorry 'bout that Dragon.)
Character: Brother Aygapus
Location: Gunship landing pad.
Situation: Speaking with Ronan.
So, this was Brother Ronan.
The Marine seemed competent enough-young perhaps when compared to Aygapus, but still seeming to be a formidable warrior. Aygapus saw no reason to dislike him-the very fact that he had approached to speak with him indicated he was well aware of the matters at hand here. After studying him for a moment, without blinking, Aygapus rose from his seat and broke the slightly tense silence with a warrior’s handshake-a firm grasp of Ronan’s wrist.
“Hail, brother. You are correct, despite our duty to protect them I find humans in general tedious in the extreme, either with the constant awe-struck expressions on their faces, or their ignorance.” At this, he broke off the shake. “I suppose you know which chapter I am”, he said, tapping the small red bull’s head emblazoned on the front of his armour without really meaning to. “And from your livery and what I’ve heard I assume you are Elite Guard. A fine chapter, noble warriors all. I fought alongside them myself during the purging of the Orks (he spit as he said this word, a glob of acidic phlegm landing with a hiss on the pad’s metallic floor), when I was no more than a mere neophyte.” Aygapus chuckled bleakly. “I suppose it is fitting that when I meet you again, once more I am no more than a Scout”. He turned to regard the rest of the team that had assembled so far, noting that Ronan had done the same with what appeared to be an almost contemptuous sneer.
“A word of warning, brother” Aygapus said, voice dropping to an almost conspirital whisper. “I would not advise you to make so public a challenge to Interrogator Avare in future. I have served alongside her for many years now, and even for Astartes it is unwise to cross her. She is…stubbornly persistent in treating us like any other member of the team.” Aygapus turned to look at his brother, noting a flash of what appeared to be a mix of curiosity and anger cross his eyes. At this, Aygapus allowed his face to soften slightly.
“Brother, I say these things not to dishonour you-if you believe so then slay me where I stand. I will not stop you. In truth, I would welcome it-even when my tenure in the Inquisition’s service is complete it is unlikely my Chapter will ever truly forgive me for my sins.” At this he paused, realising he had said too much already. “Believe me when I say that I was as ready to rip her in half as much as you were at her blasphemy against Primarch Gulliman. And I am hardly the Ultramarine’s greatest fan. But, she knows more than she is letting on, and until we know what that is we need her. I do not know why you are here, although I can guess your Master did not send you merely out of the goodness of his heart, and in truth I do not care. But, for whatever purpose it may be, she will more than likely play a large part. And even if she isn’t, then she WILL be useful in the coming mission. Mark my words, Brother; we will be facing more than mere gangs down there. I am sure of it.” At this he looked up, eyes glazing over as old wounds dragged themselves to the fore.
“I just hope it is not what I think it is, Ronan. Or I will kill her myself.”

Character: Brother Ronan
Location: Gunship landing pad.
Situation: Speaking with Aygapus
Ronan gave a respectful nod, taken slightly by suprise at this battle brothers willingness to talk but pleased that during this mission he might at least at least find respite in talking with this brother.
"Your words are well heeded, brother." he said in a quiter tone. Although I have not personally fought alongside your kin as it was before my time, your stories are well told within our halls. It is a shame that such alliances with others of our kind were forced to come to an end, but at least there might be one that still regard my Chapter as ... honourable" he said with a geniune sly smile.
Ronan glanced back to the rag-tad warriors by the landing pad, he noticed two of the female warriors talking between themselves, as were the others who had assembled. Still confident there conversation was not overheard he returned his attention to Brother Aygapus.
"As for the Inquisitor, my orders are to aid in this mission, it is not my desire to enrage one of her rank but I will not stand by and be berated in such senile manner. I will obey her orders but I will not do so blindly". He nodded to himself, it was true that he did not like this woman Avare, but equally he did not hate her, though more of her foolish outbursts at his expense might give him pause to reconsider. He knew that Inquisitors hold great power and like Space Marines are not accustomed to having to answer to another. Perhaps he ought to give this Avare Interrogator a little more leway, after all, it was not Interrogator Avare that interested him, even if she might be able to give him some ... answers.
"Do not fear brother, my orders are to ensure the success of this mission regardless of its cost, even if that cost were my own life. And I will ensure that mission succeeds!" He paused for a brief moment before continuing. "It has been good to speak with you Brother Aygapus, Emperor be with you" With that he nodded respectfully and returned a wrist-handshake.

The rio controls weapons and coms and pilot mainly flying the VTOL, then they can have 2 door guns that fire the heavy bolters. think of the the set up on a US black hawk or a Russian crocodile gunships for a moder counter part.)

Situation: Finding team 'Fallen'
Slavro took the last long drag out of his lho stick before flicking it too the ground.
The data slates infront of him told him little of his squad. Cogboy Mikal, Wilson, Claudius,
Gaz, Furn, and the two astratus. Agypus and Ronan. He glanced up from the slates, the two astratus
were here already, as well as the cogboy and Furn. (If I missed anyone just post and ill edit it)
No sign of anyone else, must still be praying too the big E thought Slavro.
He walked up to the Enginseer. 'Mikal is it? Slavro' he said pointing too his chest. 'I understand you
will be in my squad for the mission. Its a pleasure.' hs said, offering a hand........
(Few mins later)
Slavro glanced at the two god warriors. They seemed too be chatting, now would be a good a time as any, he thought.
'Master Agypus, Master Ronan.' he said, saluting crisply. 'Sgt. Slavro' he pointed too his chest again.
'I understand we will be working alongside each other, It will be an honour for me and my men too fight
alongside the astratus once again.' He didn't offer his hand, his time fighting alongside the Dark Angels
taught him, they tend too keep to themselves....
(Few mins later)
He found Furn chatting to the arbites onboard the ship. 'Ever use on of these?' he said, indicating the heavy bolter.
'If not I hope you learn fast. Sgt. Slavro, Furn I presume?' he said, offering a hand.

Character: Furn Location: Landing pad Situation: Chating as she got ready. Furn Grinned "Yeah I'm trained on them in fact the job of training the Guardsmen heavy weapons teams on Draconia is handled by a space marine scout heavy weapon operator that wishes to be considered for the chapters devastator squads. They sever as teacher to us for 6 years to prove they know heavy weapons well enough to be a devastator. The Crescent moon dragon chapter and the Draconia guard co train so mach that unless you a brother from a dead or dieing chapter you have to have first past imperial guard basic training and sever in the guard 3 years before you can be considered to be selected a Space Marine. So trust me I can do this." She may have been a guard storm trooper but how she quoted chapter regulation and her attitude you'd think she her self could have been trained to be a Space marine or at least have read a chapters rites.

Character: Soric Ghast Location: Sleeping quarters situation: getting ready. happy with his hellgun's accuracy, he got up, and put on his red beret. The trademark item of his stormtrooper company was this red beret. On the beret's front was the regiment's symbol, a stylised gator with wings. It resembled a dragon of some kind, but he knew what the winged gator stood for, and wore it with pride.Lastly, he attached his sheated machette to his belt. His carapace armor on, Hellgun secure and checked, beret on, he left for the armory. Wandering through the abandoned hallway, he looked at the portrets hanging on the walls. Some of them unsettled him. Images of old creepy people, no doubt important people on this planet. There were paintings of heroic warriors battling some kind of xenos, and men who looked like cultists. Some moments later, he arrived at the armory. There were others there too, but Soric ignored them. He got four frag grenades and a smoke grenade. Then he picked up a holstered autopistol and strapped it to his belt. He checked the ammo clip, and got another one, just to be sure. He tried to think of something he might need, but nothing came to mind. He thought of some more basic kit, a flashlight, which he secured to his chestpiece, and a flaregun which he holstered next to his autopistol. He couldn't carry more, or couldn't be bothered to carry more. This wouldn't be a long mission, so he just covered the basics. Content with what he had, he made his way to the chapel. By now, it was 0200. It was still a bit early, but Soric what restless, so went on either way.

Darkvoidof40k wrote:Also, did anyone else notice that he's updated some of the log recordings specific to certain characters?
Not much so far, but I'll be adding more the longer Avare observes player characters.
Character: Interrogator Avare
Location: Chapel
Situation: Praying for the Emperor's Blessing
Avare finished the 7th Litany of Absolution, silently contemplating the passage. The calm twirl of the silver Hexagrammic chainlink in her gloves comforted her as she moved them between her fingers. Avare had always bein a pious woman. She believed that it was essential for any member of the Inquisition. She valued skill and expertise of course, to use people with experience and talents were vital if the team was to succeed. But what did that mean if the person did not fully understand that they were but a vessel of the Emperor? To be used in furthering his will? Nothing. Without faith one cannot have purpose, without purpose one cannot fully do their duty to the Emperor. And if one is found wanting in their duty to the Emperor, no mortal punishment can truly suffice for such a sin.
Avare nodded solemnly, the old Missionary Ephaet had always said the same thing. He had died on Maltas, quite horribly in fact, the Deamon Engine's flames had burned a horrible warp-fuelled colour. But he had never shirked in his faith or his duty, and that gave Avare solace.
The door to the chapel creaked open, two figures in full battlegear slowly slipped into the room. Avare turned to face them, a small smile creasing her lips, though it was impossible to tell whether the smile was genuine or not. "Trooper Wilson, Trooper Ghast. A pleasure to see you arrive here early. We still have time, more should arrive soon. Let us talk. Tell me more about how you met my Master Remus."

Wilson gave a nervous glance to the storm-trooper beside him, The Boss was smiling, and when officers smiled troopers were in for something, at least in his experience, and it wasn't a trip to a nearby Pleasure Planet with a billion Thrones on credit.
She had asked them both a question, and training had hardwired his brain to respond when the higher ups demanded something,
He came to attention, "Ma'am, I First encountered the Inquisitor on one of the moons of my home sector, after an operation to defend a settlement from a Green-skin incursion, my Platoon suffered heavy casualties and as far as I'm aware i was the only trooper to survive the engagement. his Lordship was accompanying the reinforcements that arrived a week later."
Wilson took a breath and gave a satisfied smile. "My Mission was achieved, not a single ork made it within the village, although it took a few deviations from the Tatica to achieve."

She tried not to appear flatfooted by Wilson's summry report, and by his flagrant admission of abandoning protocol. Little matter, that was what she had took him on for after all. "Um, right. Yes, I have read your dossiers. The villagers was untouched. It strikes me as a little odd, don't you think? Then he picked up a large sniper rifle, the thing was massive, it was taller than him, he picked up a few magazines for it and left his plasma gun in the stores, it was his own plasma gun and he didn't want any one taking it.
Gaz then made his way down to the chapel. most people he passed gave him funny looks, he probably did look weird with a rifle bigger than him strapped to his back. As he reached the chapel he slowly opened the door and saw several people already sitting near the front, not wanting to disturb them he crept over to a Pugh at the back of the chapel he leant the rifle against the wall and sat down in prayer.

Subject: Wilson Location: Chapel Status: On standby. Wilson kept his face impassive, "My duty was to hold the choke-point, The citizens I tasked with guarding my rear and acting as lookouts while i worked on building traps or slept. They had no formal training and few weapons, they would have just gotten in my way with other tasks. No, the deviations i referred to was something else." He sighed and closed his eyes, " I used the bodies and commbeads of my fellow guardsmen to lure the orks into ambush sites by making them sound and look like a larger force, then i brought the mountainside down on them with carefully placed meltabombs, then rushed their leader while they were distracted. with their leader-beast dead they turned on etch other." He locked eyes with the Inquisitorial agent without fear, "I did my Duty, and the Villagers live on to serve the throne as his agents direct. I regret nothing."

Gore-Soaked Lunatic Witchhunter

Character: Avare
Location: Chapel
Situation: Passing time
"Indeed." That hadn't been in the dossiers. Avare got the feeling it hadn't been mentioned in any of the reports. Initially, she didn't know whether to be disgusted or impressed by Wilson's methods. She quickly rebuked herself, the soldier had done what the situation had demanded. There was nothing wrong with him doing his duty, and doing whatever it took to carry it out. As an Inquisitor-in-waiting she should have known that, Avare told herself.
She was snapped out of her line of thinking as the door creaked open, Trooper Gaz entered quietly, unharnessing a ridiculously large sniper rifle from his back, and hung back at the rear of the chapel. Avare glanced back to Wilson, giving him a curt nod. "You did your duty, Wilson, as the Emperor demands."

"Yes ma'am, I know."
He saluted, turned on his heel and marched to an empty pew, there he sat and unslung his flamer tanks, his other hand reached into his fatigues and pulled out the little bird icon.
Quietly he offered a prayer to the Emperor and the souls of those whose deaths had gotten him here.
He hoped they would forgive him, and understand.

Character: Soric Ghast
Location: Chapel
Situation: answering question.
Soric waited until Wilson finished with his reply. He ten spoke when Avare looked at him for a response.
"Inquisitor Remus got me out of the Penal Colony." He said. "After the disaster drop, Command seen it fit to make me the one to blame, as I was in command of that mission. It will surprise me if Inquisitor Remus hasn't told you that. Sir."
He then waited for what Avare had to say.
His answer had been brief, but enough.

Plummeting Black Templar Thunderhawk Pilot
|
Character: Brother Ronan
Location: Near a set of Barrels close to the landing pad
Situation: Talking to Brother Aygapus and Slavro
Brother Ronan slowly turned his head to look at the owner of the voice, he could have sworn he saw a shiver go down his back from his somewhat errie movement though could not be sure. He looked upon the man, he remembered his name from the briefing so he knew his offical introduction was a mere formality to try and get a conversation going between himself and Aygapus.
He looked at him, pausing for a moment, creating an awkward silence between them all before he spoke. The man had greeted him respectfully, clearly this man knew something on the appropriate way to address one of his status. "I know who you are .. sergeant" he said formally.
He then leaned closer, his face only a few feet away from Slavro's face before speaking in a quieter tone, "Interagator Avare may have put you in charge of this team but do not be foolish enough to believe you are worthy to order an Astartes, I have no reason to dislike you and I would like it to remain that way .. Sergeant!, Rest assured I will do whatever is necessary to ensure the success of this mission and I will grant you a decorum of flexibility as you will undoubtable need to assign me and Brother Aygapus tasks to fit with your plans". With that he leaned back giving space between them, he didn't care if he intimidated him or not, he wanted to make himself clear.
He looked to Aygapus, noting his tempory silence as he listened to Ronan and Slavro conversing, presumably he did not want to chime in just yet so returned his gaze back to Slavro. "However, you strike me as one who would not be so foolish, and if an Interagator deems you worthy to lead this team I will obviously assume you have the relevant skills to do so, you may even seek my council should you wish to". "I am interested to see how things pan out once we get into the belly of the hive".
He grinned as he said the words, he knew Slavro would most likely be feeling very uncomfortable at his personal space being invaded by the huge form of an Astartes, the very fact this man was not quaking in his boots or as brash as some of the others impressed him, perhaps he would get along with this Sergeant Slavro after all. He turned to the side, giving Aypapus a chance to speak if he so wished in case he had thoughts different than his own, but any case, Ronan's posture made it clear that he had finished and the conversation was over with him.
