Sam__theRelentless wrote:Just realized IMDb has a "bottom 100" list. There are some hilarious titles gracing that list (which is what I find great about it), including,

Santa Claus conquers the Martians
Troll 2
Santa with Muscles (any correlation? )
Santa Claus
The Barbaric Beast of Boggy Creek, part II

And, at the time of writing, the worst rated movie on IMDb:
Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2

It should of course be "genii". Can anyone testify to these movies actually sucking?

A bunch of the movies on that list went on to make awesome MST3K episodes.

Okay guys, as someone who has seriously badmouthed Uwe Boll films in the past, I have to give credit where credit is due, and you all should as well.

Postal was very, very well done as far as keeping the 'spirit' of the game.

Rampage was actually a pretty decent movie overall.

Other than that, yeah. The big three that offend me on a deep, personal level are the aforementioned prequel trilogy (and no, the latter two were not any better), Indy 4, and the Transformers films. And whatever asshat decided to remake Rollerball into an action movie. F that guy.

I will be happy so long as they never, ever, ever touch Big Trouble. Piss on the rest of my childhood if you want, but leave me that. Thank god it did badly in theaters.

As someone who has seen most of Uwe Boll's video game adaptations in theaters (I am a film-masochist), I agree with Bromsy. House of the Dead, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, Bloodrayne, and Alone in the Dark were abominations. Truly, truly awful films.

But, when taking into account its source material, I daresay Postal was a brilliantly realized adaptation. Yes, it's a ridiculous, stupid movie. Postal is a ridiculous, stupid game. It works.

I've not read the book but i loved the film Aryans in space, gore, action and it was in my view really subversive compared to most blockbusters. What didn't you like, the divergence from the book?

Affirmative, the novel is great scifi. Powered battle armor, nuke missile launchers, 5 or 6 suits(troopers) taking out a planet. Good stuff. Movie = suck.

I'm surprised I'm the only one that mentioned this. I must be getting old.

Yeah it seems most people who've read the book didn't like the fact that verhoven turned it into a satire, remember the TV debate scene. I think having hundreds of troopers being monstered fit that style more than the power armoured version. Still i think i know what book to read next.

Yes, a movie from 1997 helped inspire a game that was around for 10 years

But back to the topic, any Saw movie after the first.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

The book my friend, not the movie... Please don't say that again. The novel was written in 1959! Geez.. Give it a read and come back.

Agreed, it was almost like a spoof! I can't believe some think it good stuff compared the Heinlein's original written release.

Corrected the typo EDIT: Nevermind. It was 1959. I had the decade way off XD

The movie however did I think inspire to an extent the appearance of the Imperial Guard models we now have. The current IG appearance is a mix of the Colonial Marines (Aliens), WWI, and I think the appearance of Mobile Infantry and their drop ships from the movie. The Valkyrie especially looks like its a mixed influence from the drop ships in Aliens and the drop ships used in the ST movie.

I realized that and i didn't mean to phrase it in a way to give the implication that the movie inspired warhammer. I know the book inspired it and i have fixed my post for that, i apologize for makeing you post more unneccesarily

AVP and AVP2 could have been great, but in the end both movies sucked.

As for Napoleon Dynamite, how much were you all expecting out of the movie?! It had like a $400,000 budget and made like 46 million. Not too bad for a few chuckles.

Its more of a sequel to the original Predator movie, which actually already had a sequel called Predator 2. The thing about Predators, is that they were shooting for a sequel that felt more like the sequel to Alien called Aliens (The plural part to Predators is a nod to plural part to Aliens).

I am still looking forward to Prometheus as well. There is a good chance it will be a prequel to Alien.

Scream - Ironic my ass, I hated that movie - I prefer girls kicking ass rather than being sliced and diced by pathetic but apparently invulnerbale and invincible morons. Should have been over in first five mins when got her dads shotgun out and blew the dumb stalker in half.......and it spawned sequals :(

Inception - boring and overhyped - the Southpark version was so much better. Sucker Punch was such a superior film.

Mutant Chronicles - I had hopes it would be good and it was not :(

Clash of the Titans -- so much money so very poor in story excecution and characters.

all in my opinion of course...........

Oh I forgot the dire "new" Star Wars films and the tedious Matrix sequals

The first two Scary Movies were...well, not good, but they were good fun, poking at horror movies in general and making fun of the stupid things that go on in them. Scary Movie 3 was over the top, but it still had its moments. After that, the entire series just collapsed into pure, raw, stupidity.

I really never saw the appeal of Napoleon Dynamite, myself. For how big of an icon it became back in its day, I thought it would be gold, but...it was just plain dumb.

I was - I went hoping for something parodying the genre and found myself sitting through a hugely extended torture scene slaughtering the first victim (Drew Barrymore?) and it carried on from there in the same vein.

IMO - there was no comedy, nothing clever - just another bad slasher flick.

The real reason scary movies were bad was that they spent a lot of time on scream, a movie which was ALREADY intended as satire about other horror movies.

Edit: Napoleon Dynamite isn't horrible. It isn't the worst film ever made. But there was very little in it that was funny. It rates a "Meh" on my Give-A-gak-O-Meter.
