I know I’m coming to this thread late but I’m an AoS optimist too. It’s given my little gaming group of jaded old ex- GW staff a boost of hobby energy and seen us playing Warhammer games for the first time in years.
I’ve been working some Khorne stuff from the game box. These are amazing models. I can’t rave about them enough. They are, to me, the all the old iconic WoC art made into models.
I'm going to grind through the game box over the next few months and then start some Nurgle stuff. I'm also thinking I'll have to rebase my existing WoC army on round bases. I'm not looking forward to that 'cos it feels like ruining my hard work; it's not but it still feels wrong!

Great thing about the game though, is that you don't actually NEED to rebase any of your old stuff. The only stuff that I have in my Empire army on round bases, are things that I had absolutely zero of prior to AoS coming out.... So my Karl Franz is "square based" as are all my knights and greatswords.

Circle bases make pile-in and combat so much smoother, however.
Absolutely incredible work Drone21c!!! Please post some more :-)

Agreed on both counts, circle bases make models look better( imo) and behave better in combat and that Drone21c's skills are top-notch.

Personal preference for me.... I mean, for instance, my greatswords, when on a display board simply look better ranked up (which isn't so easy with rounds), but the artillery crew for my cannons are on rounds because why not? because they aren't really getting into any fights, and their only requirement is to be within a distance of the gun, the rounds allow me to do more with their bases and that makes them look better.

Haha, I was worried I might be a bit abrasive in saying that.
My own army is seeing alot of both bases as I want my knights to be ready for any game I come across. (8th,9th,EEFL, AoS, KoW, FG)
Luckily we can choose which we think looks best. (Or are too lazy to rebase, like me)

I don't NEED to re-base my models but as Bottle said they work better in the game and I agree with Baron Klatz that the look much better. Plus my hobby OCD won't allow square bases and round ones in the same army. It hurts me now to put the new stuff with my old army. I'm also struggling with it because it is kissing goodbye to the old-style Warhammer that I've played on and off for twenty years.
And thanks for the kind words. I'll post more when I can.

Lizardmen are completely gone from the webstore so now there's no doubt at all which is the next faction being repackaged.

I'm currently rebasing my bigger models, The one thing that sticks in my craw is there is no 20MM round base.
Its actually a huge deal, you can fit many more rats into combat on the smaller square bases then with round, especially with spear units.
I'll probably wind up breaking up my slave and clan units and putting onto rounds, because they are on regimental bases right now. All my old metal plague monks and stormvermin will probably stay on the squares for now.
I may wind up just making some 20mm round bases for continuity, but I'll worry about that when everything else is rebased.

I'm excited. It was THIS close to playing WHFB because I liked the Lizardmen army (my favorite part of Warhammer: Invasion too), but I didn't want to buy and paint 100 figures I didn't like to get the ones that I did. AoS's more open approach to army building means I can just get the figures I like, every once in a while. Of all the missing races, Lizardmen were the ones I am most looking forward to. It might be too much to hope for, but I'm hoping for new sculpts on some of the grunt figures and some terrain options. Of course, I expect a battletome and another campaign book as well.

The Lizardmen situation is very interesting.
If GW make the next update like the previous one. (new models: Stormcast, Khorne. Rebased models: Sylvaneth, Skaven/Nurgle)
Then I'm betting new models of Seraphon and Tzeentch (spelling? ) with rebased Duardin and undead.
Purely guessing of course.

I'm... cautiously worried/optimistic. I quite like the lizardmen models that exist now. And of course, them being gone from the store doesn't really say much beyond "they're gone from the store." But this could be the first really big change to one of the old armies, and that could finally give an idea about how everything else might be handled, so... Potentially hopeful?
I'm glad I picked up my bastiladon when I did, at least.

I'm guessing Lizardmen are getting the Rotbringers/Sylvaneth/Pestilens treatment. I'd be very surprised to see any new units or even a battle tome. Would love to be proven wrong though.

This would be my guess as well... I was at my shop yesterday, and all of the current Lizardman stock is still on the shelf there. This sorta tells me that they aren't being deleted, but rather we should be expecting something coming down in the next short while.

They released two in the first wave, but I think the first book was more of a general background book, while Realmgate Wars 1 was the campaign book. It's been six months, so Realmgate Wars 2 seems pretty likely.

I was counting from July to December. July was when AoS was released, but I guess RGW1 was a later release, and December because that's when I heard the AoS window was (November is going to be Horus Heresy apparently).
I guess if they start doing Lizardmen now, it will just be rebases with no campaign book, since there's no way they'll get that done in the two weeks between announcing HH and releasing it. It would also mean that LIzardmen won't be a full faction and would be more like the Pestilens as a smaller auxiliary faciton.

Bah.
I'm sure we'll see more Skaven as different mini-factions in the future, so even if a handle of Lizardmen are grouped together into a mini-faction it is no cause to worry imo.
The fact that the entire range has been taken from the webstore is interesting though.
As someone from the sidelines, can't wait to see the outcome really.

Yeah, maybe I'm being too negative. I suppose they might split them up between skinks and saurus? I don't know. I don't know!
It just seems like the fate of the lizardmen keeps getting thrown up in the air. Rough time to be a fan.

If GW retire kits full stop, they tend to go web-only and remain there until stock disappears.
If GW are replacing a kit, it's normally with only 2-4 weeks notice. There's nothing in rumours to indicate anything big coming in the release window for the next couple of months, Xmas being Xmas, and November expected to be HH for the whole month - doesn't seem to be any space to redo the whole line...
But as we've seen with the Sylvaneth, Skaven and the Bloodborne stuff, reboxing is a block removal of kits from the website, then they just reappear.
I will be extremely surprised if this is anything other than all the kits being reboxed, and re-released over the next fortnight.
