I was worried about that, but I think GW have been a bit clever here - they are very 'springy' and there is enough movement within them to take knocks and even drops without breakage. I know. I dropped one of the Prosecutors just before that photo was taken

Humans who are pretty much, immortal. When they die, they get sent back to Azyrheim and reforged. They're also super strong- take Retributors for example. Their hammers are so heavy that it would take 6 normal men to lift it.

Unsure if anyone reading this thread is up in the New England area... but I would definitely check out the Da Boyz AoS GT

More info can be found here: http://daboyzgt.com/ but the event really seems to be shaping up nicely!

As much as I am meh on Stormcasts, I approve of them being human males. For the same reason I approve of Death (Vampire Counts and Tomb Kimgs) all being humans (which makes less sense in the new fluff), it simply looks better to have the uniform size and appearance.

These armies would like terrible as a mismatch of different fantasy races in my opinion.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

As models you mean? or In lore?

I feel like lore wise, if there aren't any non-human Stormcast it still would make sense to have female members even if they don't explicitly have models. I mean Chaos has at least two female characters I can think of, Valkia the Bloody and Selkhara the Black, so its not as if GW is against having any female soldiers. Not to mention with the AoS fluff being so new (and by extension very sparse) I think its not out of the realm of possibility that the picture of what is a Stormcast will broaden as more is written.

Model wise, I don't really know how different a female Stormcast would look anyway. The armor is pretty large so likely it wouldn't need to be sized or shaped much different, especially if we assume that Sigmar's forging process likely enhances all of his soldiers into a similar body-builder physique. I'm actually planning on mixing some female Stormcast into my army and the only real change I think would make sense outside of maybe female heads on commanders would be to slightly round the fronts of liberator/judicator/prosecutor chest plates, but honestly I'm not sure whether it would even look good or be necessary.

I honestly considered repurposing my extra Sisters of Battle to give my Stormcast starter box force a bit of variety, but the models honestly just look dated next to the new plastics. I am hopeful the latest Raging Heroes kickstarter may have some useful minis but they definitely may be too sci-fi-y to convert properly.

I'm actually going to be kitbashing a female Lord Celestant using a female head from Statuesque, so I'll take pictures once I have everything in hand and assembled. Also I'm not sure if you know but the second Raging Heroes kickstarter has both fantasy and sci-fi versions of almost all of the miniatures. They're shown after all of the sci-fi ones.

Loving this post and loving AoS. I'm optimistic about the game and think it's a great place from which GW's fantasy can grow and develop. For the past 2 years or so I'd moved over to historical gaming but AoS brought me back into the fold. I still struggle with the lack of a points system though. I know it's a touchy subject but I'd like to see this option included in the future. I'm slowly reading the rules of 40k so forgive me if I've got this wrong but unbound says models have a cost but agree on a points limit and field what you want. Couldn't they have just done this with AoS? Anywho, i'm optimistic they will!

Kinda. Unbound has drawbacks compared to using force orgs/formations, the most common one being is that most units in an unbound force can't contest objectives - so if you go unbound, you need to figure out a force that can obliterate your opponent because that is your only option for winning.
If you're struggling with the lack of points, I'd seriously recommend just playing scenarios for a while.
They focus your game plan, and it becomes far less a case of how much someone has, but whether they have the right tools for the job.
I've lost games where I realised I could have won with half the stuff but a more targeted selection.

I've heard, and read here, great things about scenarios but haven't managed to play one yet. The group I play with isn't very tight and I think that's where I've experienced some balance issues.

To be honest though, balance doesn't bother me too much as I'm just happy to have a game. If i lose, I lose! My main love of points is list building. I love nothing better than compiling an army list... Especially when I'm bored at work.

I've taken to list building using some of the comps available. The best I've seen are Azyr, PPC, and clash. As said my group aren't tight and I've not brought these up with them (yet) but in currently building a VC force (typing this whilst some glue dries on my brand spanking new vampire lord on a zombie dragon) with these systems in mind! My army's gonna be a lean, mean, flesh -eating machine!

Well, there's a time and a place to criticize AoS and this isn't it. I am so far enjoying what GW is doing with the models and story. I'm looking forward to assembling a Stormcast Eternal force. I might covert some leaders to not wear helmets.

To make SE more Tzeentch in nature would require a lot of custom sculpting. I mean if you can pull it off it would look great but that's a lot of work.

Seriously I am in the undead mood after lisetning to prisoner of the black sun audiobook. Nagash's bit is awesome. Going to get more undead and one thing I personally like in the setting is the various origins of the characters. For example we have two stormcast from the realm of death one does worship sigmar and the other didn't..The one who did lived in the world death and is a part of the hallowed knights who are all about faith in sigmar. So who knows there might actually be aelf's living in the realm of death there might even be aelf necromancers and vampires considering there is precedence for it in end times.

Thinking about grabbing a coven throne for my von carstien army. I like the thought of converting heroes into vampires. Funny enough those Prosecutors paint scheme is similar to the hallowed knights apart from a slightly brighter blue I have a feeling the black library writers like them a lot since they have had the best stories so far in the realm gate wars series.

Ha! You and me both! I have started a Vamp force primarily of Vargheists, a Coven Throne, and a varghulf... and man, those models are GORGEOUS on circle bases. I am still waiting for resin bases to arrive to base them properly, but I am loving them on even the plain black plastic bases.

I think you could do this easy! As long as you had loads of thousand son's style helmets (maybe that's the hard part...)

Headswaps for all, sword and shield swaps for all, and cleaning off the thunder bolts on the shoulder pauldrons. done

Ha! This was exactly my thoughts as well. The VC force I'm building are all on round bases and I think they look awesome! I've been using 25mm for most infantry and my zombies and skellies look great!

There is not this idea.

So, continuing on my earlier post, I ended up with a small force of beastmen. 40 gors, 20 ungor raiders, a bray shaman and... 1 bestigor, who I guess I can use as a beastlord for now.

My plan is to paint them in a bunch of different colors, because I hate painting brown over and over again. I've also got a few heads that I think are from plague bearers? I'm going to do some trimming and put a few of them on gors. After all, they still have horns.

The 32mm's round bases are my new drug I love them so much. Been rebasing my Black orcs now and they look awesome on those.

Yes! All models that were on 25mm squares look Soo good on 32mm rounds.

My fav though is cavalry going onto the small oval bases. Looks amazing

What colour are you doing their armour/cloth?

I am looking at doing a small Beastman army myself to join in the campaign battles in the Realm of Life, but I think I will do them a 'god-neutral' black for armour and/or clothing rather than strictly Nurgle. At the end of the day, I only want to do one set of Beastmen

Just copperish for their armor, basic blues and greens for the cloth. Their strange body colors are the focus, so I'm not doing much elsewhere.

Round bases are great. Square bases immediately look old fashioned and bad now. The only thing I am not keen on are the oval bases for some of the monsters like the khorgorath and dracoth. I find they're situated in a weird way and look a bit off when those models are actually in play. Almost as if they move sideways into combat, rather than a narrow end pointing forward.

My only painful question now is whether to put my Bloodletters on 32mm. I feel like they are meant to be on 32, though the box comes with 25. I'm guessing GW is not going to rebox all their daemons to make that change though.

@Mymearan - Frankly, the BEST thing that came out of AoS for me is Retributor and Liberator Gold, LOL. As much as I love some of the models, I absolutely adore Retributor for coverage, and Liberator for as a final highlight (instead of silver).

The coverage on Retributor is out of this world compared to other brands' "yellow" golds, IMO.

Great idea for a thread, personally I love AOS. It is great for tiny 20 model a side skirmishes and bigger battles and it has re-invigorated my love of the hobby. The starter set is a cracking purchase too.

Much as I love AoS, the ONE thing I wish for, if simply for the fact my store is in a campaign, is that some of the slightly older WHFB terrain were available again. Since Im an Empire player, I just saw the rules for the Fortified Manor terrain, but I can't buy it through my store :(

But I think it's awesome that there are actually a number of terrain groups, special rules and the like instead of the old, "ohh look, there's a buttload of trees, they give a cover save"
