@Guilden - it's very true. We found an old bridge and I spent...longer than preferred...taking shots of rust and peeling paint haha. In fact, I'll go find a few of them...

So, this was built about 7 months ago, and I'm just now getting paint on it haha. Turned out alright, but I think wind blew some grit onto it while the primer was drying :/ Oh well .

Starting back commissions next week. Any interest in full boards, shoot a message

Not where I should be

That is a beautiful piece, really pro level stuff. Love the little story it tells and you can imagine lots of scenarios to bring it to life, let alone just a brilliant piece of terrain. Leaving the tunnel, leaves it open to be used in many different games.

Sorry should have said before the Holiday pics are beautiful and very inspiring.

Good luck with the job! hehe, but you are right, you never know bud, and you are easily good enough.

Looking forward to seeing some stuff from you soon.

Did a few old crusty roads for a guy. Next up is a set of pieces that may or may not include a 2ft long model C-130 plane O.o Had a hard time finding a 1/48 or so scale place that wasn't really expensive. Ended up finding out that the GI Joe comany made one that's about 20" or so long - waiting on it to get here to see for sure, but it has plenty of detail for my purposes. Also, the client wants it to be BRIGHT YELLOW so all concerns with historical accuracy went straight out the window haha.

After that it's looking like I'll be leaving the wasteland for a while and spending some time with the vikings. Like a lot of time...20-30 pieces of terrain worth of time likely haha. Always good to mix it up, and it'll be nice to knock the dust off all of my green flocking and bushes and whatnot.

Ok, so I made something other than terrain O.o

Tried my hand for the first time at two new skills - sculpting, and conversions. Wanted to make a warband for This is Not a Test that was different from the usual mutant/peacekeepers etc. so I did some browsing...

I saw this

image online and it got me thinking that would be a really easy thing to hack together, so about an hour or so later popped out this quick (and dirty) prototype. Slapped on a base coat and drybrush so the details would show up in photos,

I think next time I'll change a few things including using a different mini for the human half of the centaur, but overall quite please with it.

That is spectacularly good bud, want an army of them, led by a blonde moostach and goaty, love it, and really great work for first try as well. I think a Catachan might work better, all brawny and tanned.

@Nerdfest - it's that Wastelander paint scheme where you just never clean your brush

@Cam - yeah, I was going to use them for a TNT warband, and I think guy will be my leader and I can give him power armor, then I can do more with either Catchans or some of the Necromunda plastic goliaths I have maybe...need more horses either way haha.

@kestral - thanks for the compliments!

Some photos - unfortunately, my main project may not have photos for a little while.. hold up while waiting for some custom parts.

While waiting, I knocked out some random pieces to use up some scraps. Here are some 3-generations old phone quality photos of tuesday evening/wednesday morning's build:

will likely do some more pieces this week for fun then send them to eBay with this one.

Also contacted a waiting client and got the ball rolling on that large fantasy viking project, so we'll likely see some carved dragon head beams and thatched roofs soon!

That reminds me, I have a lot of reference photos of thatched roofs, but no experience modeling them. Anyone done that before? I'd appreciate any tips!

Working on some odds and ends - here's a Viking/Nordic Fantasy building. This was mostly a test piece to work out some looks and paint schemes for the next pieces. Still haven't found a grat way to do thatched roofs (without actually thatching them) that i like the look of. Kinda like this slate grey look. May end up doing that - just with a little more variety on the tiles...we'll see.

Really excited about this one. Here are some photos from up to a few days ago. We're taking this C-130 (ish) GI-Joe toy and smashing it up for Joey at This Is Not A Test.

First steps were to decide where to bisect it...ended up trisecting it into three main parts. Then bashed it with some chain, hacked at it with a knife for 2 hours, melted some bits and sanded all the smooth areas so the paint will grab better.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Eventually got that done and based the plane chunks on MDF, added some variety to the shape of the ground, some mounded up dirt, etc. and textured.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Next up will be detailing the interior - already have some awesome laser-cut seats in the main chunk of the plane. Working on sculpting some furniture and luggage piles to cast for decorating the rest of the base.
Spoiler:

Once smooth-on gets their package shipped here that process can start.

The eventual plan is to have the old plane look like it's been lived in by scavengers and make a few more scatter pieces to fill out the area.
