I'm blown away. This is going to be really hard to judge.

Also, y'all really "clogged the tubes" at the last minute there. It took me a while to sort through all the entries. Nine total. Well done!

If I missed anyone, or any details, please send me a PM right away.

Thank you, and good luck to everyone!

Alas. poor Cleatus, we knew him well...

Maybe someone would be kind enough to scoop up the brain matter that's dribbled out and pour it back in to his head, give it a shake and see if he re-boots.

Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. But I appreciate the concern. Or hypothesis that I've been eaten by dingoes, as the case may be.

I apologize for the delay in judging.

Short version is that the excrement hit the fan at work, and I've been pulling insane hours to keep the wheels on and meet a project deadline. Please bear with me.

Results will be posted tonight soon.

No worries, was afraid we had broken you. RL is a pig sometimes and does interfere with the important things in life like Plasticrack and Dakka,

Strike that, revise it. Change "tonight" to "soon". This past weekend my hobby time was eaten up by some urgent work stuff. Not happy about that. So it goes.

Just had an idea for an LoER bumper sticker: "I'D RATHER BE RIVETING".

Bear with me folks. Talk amongst yourselves. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

haha Vik, pick any American corporation, factor in eroding labor laws in every state, and you've got overworked people everywhere you look. Neckties are corporate slave collars.

Also, (joke: ) I've heard that the guy inventing the necktie originally wanted to hang himself but than felt to chic he should have followed his original plan...

The Results Are In!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dogs, cats, fish, various woodland creatures... we have a winner.

This round's theme was "A Series of Tubes". This was a broad theme that encouraged you to use long hollow cylinders in creative ways, be they one or many. They didn't have to be the focus or main component in the piece per-se, but I encouraged entrants to find creative ways to incorporate tubes into their work. So you could use them as structural supports, or display them prominently. The interpretation was up to you.

Let me say that this was a pleasure. I really enjoyed seeing each of your pieces go from a collection of odds and ends to fully realized creations. The goal of this competition is not to win, but to come together and create something that did not exist before. You get out of this competition what you put into it, and I must say you have all done a great job. Thank you for your patience with me during this competition. Judging was incredibly tough. I spent several hours staring at your photos, considering the details, materials used, as well as the overall composition. Despite other demands on my time I wanted to give your work the proper attention it deserves.

Without further ado...

We have a winner:
"Zen Garden" by Z-Ray

Spoiler:

And a photo of the garden in place behind the temple with a samurai for scale

Zen Garden was built on a section of cork tile with cereal box for paving stones, insulation foam rocks and plastic rod for the bamboo as well as under the sand to make the furrows
I wanted to go with something more natural to get away from the oil pipelines and sewers the theme immediately brings to mind (my first Idea was to make a continuation of the steam moat from my blog)

Second place goes to "Water Pump" by I Ate a Bug. A wonderful piece in its own right.

Honorable mention goes to "The Refinery?" by Dr H, for the sheer number of tubes he managed to squeeze into his brilliant terrain piece. Very nice.

If anyone would like feedback, please ask. I will do my best to collect and share my thoughts.

Congratulations, and well done!

Well done Cleatus. Some people think it's the winning that's the hard part for these contests; the winners find that it's only the beginning.

Congratulations Z-Ray and I Ate A Bug. I was torn on which of those I liked best too. Great work.
Welcome to the LoER, Z-Ray. Wear the banner with pride. Oh, and get thinking on what we're doing in the next round.

Well, you said "tubes" so I made sure to make tubes the star.

Comprehensive feedback is welcome. Feel free to post mine in this thread for all to learn from.

Good work everyone.
