I don't get the appeal either. But it is good thing that these are such unremarkable models; I would be really annoyed if models that I'd actually want were sold this way.

If were actually good I would buy them. I just don't see the point. I can make the same or better models from sprues available...

some1 is gunna say for collection but unless increases in price 1000% idc (and if 10% I buy for like, I work for money)

Even if in 100 years are super rare... how much you think a plastic model is worth? Rarity is not the same as say Victorian era or before

I think we get that you don’t want them, no need to keep reminding us every other post.

Some people might like these regardless of their relative worth, is that so hard to believe? Some of them look pretty neat (I quite like the sergeant, for example).

awesome...

Zero chance of randomly getting the same guy if you apply some common sense.

I think you're missing a key factor about these figures. In Japan, 40k is, surprisingly enough, not very popular. These figures were part of a push to drive up interest in the Japanese market. Japanese collectors actually quite like the blind-box concept, so a low cost, customizable (yes, they are customizable) plastic model with more unique sculpts and poses than what you get in the regular troop box is a good way to get that increased interest.

It should also be noted that at least for the Japanese releases, these came with bio cards as well. Each figure is a unique character and every one of them comes with a unique unhelmeted head, if you were so inclined as to have an entirely bareheaded squad.

Also, the figures are quite nice. I just painted up one of the ones I picked up in Japan.

Awesome paint job. I love going to Japan. Though I find it a bit odd some of there collecting fantasies, like in some train stations they have women's panties in a vending machines and found crazier stuff in Tokyo. Pass for me.

Never mind that, I have that exact modeled marine, except mine has a boltgun in left hand, accutally how would hold it or more individual parts and a better base (wait mine is individual) what i am paying for a stock model??? Who holds their rifle like that ever?

Blimey, you are right Changemod, there is a faded code on the side between the Sgt's legs.

Brother Remus (missile launcher) is 18255.

However, I have 2 boxes with 18256 and they contained different marines.

Other codes I got were 18257, 60 and 61.

That gave me brothers Gaiun, Castor, Garus, Titus, Promethor and the aforementioned Remus. We just have to join the dots now.

Edit* a post appears to have been removed, edited, deleted?

check the number against the chance of getting each shown on the box

could well be all the 1/6's have the same code etc

Right... so you don't have that exact modeled marine. Which is precisely the appeal for many collectors: It's something slightly different.

Back when I had more disposable income, I would have bought these in a heartbeat, even though I could likely build or convert something identical - because I like having different models.

I originally thought that but given that I got three of the 1/6 minis and two (well three with the 2 Remus') of the 1/12 I do not think that is the case. Could have always been a mispack?

Is there some sort of country difference as I got Promethor but no box with that number?

Yeah, a shame that they went with tried and true biggest and most recognisable, yet generic sellers for a first foray into these sets in an overseas market.

THIS sort of unrealistic, badly, or non-thought out, non-rational, personal wishlisting complaint is a perfect example of why "the internet" is treated like a joke.

For these reasons they aren’t going to do characters, but then also for price reasons -GW charge more for characters than this, it’d be a loss for them.
(Though 12 variant guard would be cool. But it’s Space Marine Heroes, which is also how the game is recognised).
I could have seen something like this if they were a scale nowhere near usab,e in 40k they’d get around to named guys or something, but people would just buy as cheap characters, I mean look at the price of clam packs now

Would it really be so unprofitable? From what I see (I don't remember fully), each blind pack costs £5. For a tactical marine. Yes, £5. Chucking in some £10-15 guys, even make them a bit rarer, mightt this not increase sales of £5 individual tactical, non-primaris marines?

I guess that is possible. What number was on the side of your box?

Looks like different batches/cases have different unique codes for the figures so I don't know how useful this will be for anyone, but I picked 7 unique codes (and a duplicate for giggles/confirmation) and got 7 unique figures (with the duplicate I expected). I only got the one duplicate so I can't 100% confirm this, but I believe all 6 cases I went through shared the same codes. There were only 7 codes represented between all six cases, so I think it's a safe assumption.

NG1 18197 - Brother Garus
NG1 18200 - Brother Castor
NG1 18204 - Brother-Sergeant Sevastus
NG1 18205 - Brother Promethor
NG1 18206 - Brother Vanial
NG1 18208 - Brother-Captain Thassarius
NG1 18212 - Brother Titus

Chucking in A character, yeah I agree, that’s like the old days of shiny rarepokemon cards or whatever.
But he was saying a character series, I was replying to that..
(I can’t imagine a box where any of 10 £15 type models could be in there, unless they made the series £15each maybe..)

To make sure people didn't run down those codes, maybe they had batch numbers per region....

That being said, good idea to just pull boxes out and make sure there are different numbers on each one.
