Does anyone know how widely available these are in Japan?

No idea how widely availble these terminators will be, but I only ever saw the blue marines from the first series in one toy shop. That shop carried GW products and a large number of japanese plastic kit lines, though the blind-buy marines weren't displayed in the same part of the shop as all the other plastic kit related stuff.

I didn't see the series one marines in any of the big electronics retailers which often also carry plastic kit lines, so I think their availability was quite limited. Certainly much more limited than equivalent "shokugan" or "gachapon" lines from japanese kit companies.

I live in Saitama and I saw the marines in the toy section of my big local electronics store, so some stores do carry them. They are by no means everywhere. GW is still a very small hobby here.

I live in Osaka and my big local electronics store (Yodobashi Camera) definitely sold them also.
They were also covered in Hobby Japan magazine.

Spoiler:

No at the level of Space Hulk's (2013 edition) terminators, the best and most characterfull terminators ever done by GW, but they are nice enough.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Wait, why do these get proper retro lightning claws and the box doesn’t?

I think I prefer those to the Space Hulk terminators to be honest, they're more realistic (less bling) and although I'd need a side by side to see it looks like the proportions have been updated slightly as the power armoured ones were.

I'm gonna have to try and get a set of these...

Terminators with dynamic, but not over the top poses, no over done bling, and no molded on faction symbols? Yeah, I'm going to have to have my brother pick up some of these for me. I don't see a release date placard though.

I've heard it's possible. First you'll need 3 ex-paratroopers and a submarine...

Though they are made in the U.K., and GW did say they wanted to look into releasing them elsewhere.

Play-asia allowed you to import them last time round so I guess will do this lot too (I didn't but I've used them for other Japanese kit stuff... as with all importing be prepared to pay your appropriate local taxes)

https://www.play-asia.com/warhammer-40000-space-marine-heroes-series-no1-set-of-24-pieces/13/70bcp1

also worth asking your local model shop (if they buy in genuine Gundam kits etc) as where they source them from may well be able to source these too

They still have shoulders level with their ears, eh?

Anyway, what is that model in the box with paints? The shape looks quite cape-like, a Captain? Or is it just the banner photographed at odd angle making it look non-rectangular?

Y’know, I think the only marine model I don’t have is a terminator w/ cyclone launcher?

Aren’t these a little larger than the normal models? Are they primaries-sized or otherwise look out of place beside normal GW models?

It never ends well

It's just the banner bearet. Maybe there'll be a "secret" Captain figure like series 1 had, though.

These are NOT bigger than the regular kits. They are not in a different scale. There was an argument about this in the series 1 thread that went on for several pages because people were under the mistaken assumption that the figures were bigger despite me posting photographic evidence to the contrary all because someone made a joke about them being Primaris sized. It's kind of annoying to see this belief is still going around.

But then they are larger. They are not in a different scale – but they got slightly longer and bulkier legs than regular Mk7 plastic Marines which make them slightly taller, same as the Mk8 Deathwatch Kill Team models. The scenic bases add to that.

Photographic evidence in my review: https://taleofpainters.blogspot.com/2017/11/review-japan-exclusive-space-marine.html (scroll to the end)

Series 1 are probably the most true scale regular Marines GW ever released. They don't mix well with regular Marine models, but in a squad of their own, they don't look out of place in an army (especially when combining with Primaris Marines).

Not so fond of them. Not as good as the Space Hulk set...

Terminators aren't too bad but not worth the trouble of hunting them. I do regret not getting Series 1 though. If both sets will become more easily available one day, I will gladly buy them. I love the sculpted bases!

I have a full set of series one for sale in the UK - including the captain - and I will likely be able to get a set or two of the Terminators too - when I visit Tokyo in February

You sure seen the Terminator with the Cyclone having a Breastplate that looks like a Chaos Version but loyal with three hoses...so maybe this One is to hunt because i didnt see that loyal armor style yet with three hoses i only see them on traitor terminators (i think only One body of the lead Ones had these three hoses design)...and dont forget the crazy Captain checking his scanner with a unique pose...I think i will go for these two because i like the unique armor on the Cyclone wearer...and the cool pose on the Captain...

By the Way the guy with the lightning claws must be a real nutbuster with his pals...because he has a shooting wound on his leg...and the armor is bending outwards..not inwards...he must be shoot from the back...and the guy with the flamer has some heavy variant legs (looking like the new devastator style legs)...Damn Overall i now need to look for three of these Terminators ;-)

The Terminators are far more different and unique in comparison to existing kits than series 1. Series 1 had maybe 3 figures you couldn't easily kitbash from the existing regular marine ranges (aesthetically at least, I know there's a bit of a size difference): Captain, Sergeant and Grenadier. Possibly 4 if you count the Missile Launcher guy who's kneeling on his left leg rather than right like the current pair of legs in the Devastator kit.

The first series was nice but not special enough to go to the effort of tracking them down (if they get released over here I'll snap them up) but I love me some terminators so I'll be after these guys.

Straight conversion of ¥750 is apparently an entirely reasonable £5.32
