Subject: Age of Sigmar Online Preview Saturday February 20th: Lords of the Mortal Realms!
Yup. That would be my first guess, as well as guesses number 2-5.
Starting to look forward to tomorrow. The new undead (be it for Quest, Underworlds or AoS) have been the most exciting things in ages for me - not all amazing, but some great things and nothing irredeemably bad. And with the combination of Quest and the AoS faction, it could be a fairly sizeable range.
Lets not forget Knights have 30 years constant marketing
Do they? I was entirely unaware they existed until they...well, started existing as a faction. Maybe I missed it, but having picked 40k up at start of 3rd ed (and gawing at it in WD's a year or two earlier), the focus was always on titans as the big boys of 40k setting, to me at least.
The first Imperial Knights models were released in ‘94 along side the new edition of Epic but I’m fairly sure they were mentioned previously in fluff.
Exactly. Knights on the 40K table might be newer, but prior to that they had several versions in metal and plastic through at the very least Titan Legions (plastic knights in the boxed set and multiple metal versions). They also have stories and lore and artwork. Basically by the time Knights appeared in 40K they already had a fanbase who had seen them in other scale games; seen them in art and stories and seen the big expensive FW kits and wanted in on the game.
In contrast Gargants have the Bonegrinder from Old World, but FW's marketing for Fantasy is very weak in general. The lore and the rest just hasn't supported them anywhere near like what knights in 40K got. So by the time Gargants appeared the number of long term fans who were eager for them is comparably far fewer. In contrast Gargants are very "generic" in that they can basically fit into any army as an ally and fit well into destruction in general. So across the game they have a vaster appeal as an allied model option.
Not sure how fair that comparison is - in the end, they're just Giants after all. I'd say most people who like the Gargants like them because they like and have always liked Giants. Stylistically, they are hardly different from the previous plastic Giant, just bigger. Perhaps I'm underestimating the draw of the lore...

the lore is "once behemat got killed, some giants grew BIG and tiny bit smarter than the usual hamster intelligence of a gargant". They're the lowest effort battletome since Fyreslayers and i expect will see as much love in the future.

Are you stuck in 2012? Or are Adrax Agatone/Codicier Natorian/Iron Father Feirros/Kayvaan Shrike/Kor’sarro Khan/Tor Garadon/Chief Librarian Mephiston/Lazarus/Ragnar Blackmane all Ultramarines according to you? Because vast majority of character releases recently were NOT Ultramarine and you can even argue most of generic characters released in that time frame fit other chapters better and are rather poor fit in blue...

Looks like a skeleton knight to me. I suppose there's only so much you can get from a silhouette, but GW skeletons have a thin look just like this new model has, the way it's holding its lance suggests a slight, not super strong character. Not to mention that looks like a classic wight-style helmet.
That would match us getting a cavalry release which resembles the skeletons coming in Cursed City, because actually they're just packaging up a teaser sampler of a new AoS army in that game.

New Blood Knights would be awesome, as long as they rode "normal-ish" horses. The current kit more or less holds up very well, though for some reason, the dude whose job it is to blow the horn is the only one with something covering his face

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I love the look of Blood Knights except for the heads, so I bought some vamp heads from Puppetswar to replace them, despite my doubts over how suitable they would be. The picture on the PW website really doesn't do the heads justice, they make the Blood Knights look absolutely amazing.
I doubt that I'll buy any new Blood Knights for this reason, unless GW really smashes it out of the park.
