Surfing the Tervigon Wave...on a baby.

For those that were wanting a comparison shot of a Tervigon/Tyrannofex along with a Hierodule, here you go.

In the middle is a Carnifex converted to be standing a little taller.

That thing has so much more plastic to it then the Carnifex!!! They better drop the c'fex's price if they ever hope to sell one ever again... ever.

Ever.

The legs on a tervigon/Tyrannofex look just like the legs of those people who wear those ridiculous high heels. Clumsy unbalanced and as if they will fall over any second.

Actually the legs' height are actually the only part of the Tfex that matches the artwork.

Got my flyrant kits the day they came out and they are really good. Magnetized the wings just to make storage/transport easier. worked a treat. Drilled out the sockets on the torso with a bit by hand to fit the magnets I wanted, some greenstuff to neaten up the joints a bit. still an obvious point of rotation where the magnets come together, but it does the job. Drilling deeper in would have fixed that some but removed the socket itself pretty well entirely. Might even GS some additional pectoral muscle to cover the joint, but prolly just leave as is.

One thing, the way the tail is built on the flyrant, combines with the size of the rest of the model, it has a bit of spring action to it when moved. Definitely a bit of sway to the model when manipulated by the based. Just something to keep in mind. Oh, and the magnets add most of an additional inch to wingspan, which is cool.

I've magnetized mine as well. It holds together pretty securely (takes a fair bit of shaking to get it to come apart ), but I had to use 3 or 4 magnets to keep the wings from falling off, and 2 to secure the torso to the different lower-bodies. I'll post pics when I finish (still painting).

I didnt magnetize the lowers as I really just wanted the flyrant models. Used some rather stout magnets so single pair per side was more than sufficient to hold and maintain orientation. Worked a treat.

If you're having swinginess when you magnetize something, pin that joint as well but don't glue one side of the pin.

The pin will be the load-bearing unit whereas the magnets will ensure the pinned parts don't slide off too easily.

How did you manage that? Only 1 waist joint. I tried it!

For folks who are interested in building a more erect T'fex or Tervigon, I think it would be possible. Rotating the legs back by 45 degrees lines them up with the tail so that it looks like the legged Venomthropes in the photo below (and the legs are just a little bit longer than the tail). This brings the body up to horizontal. The neck area will need to be modified to to bring the head facing down a bit.

Center leg set would need to be opened up to make them longer. Upper tail section could be modified to push the tail further to the rear.

Might be possible to chop the rear of the egg sack so that it would rotate down and the Gants would drop out the lower front of the belly:

Or you could make the ultimate bad ass Hive Tyrant:

Got lucky and snagged a plastic Tyrant torso off Bitzbox for 7 quid. Now I can build a Flyrant and the Swarmlord from one box... as soon as the FLGS gets the **** shipment.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

You just magnetize the waist joint and then it can be mounted on the legs or the flying body.

Hm. I didn't think it were possible with the way the lower bodies and waist joint connected. I just used the flyrant lower body and blutacked the arms and heads. Swarmlord.looks great if you build it right.

Given the size of the kits, GW could eventually make the Heriodule in plastic as a baneblade sized kit to give Nids an Apoc plastic.

Ok, here's some pics of my WIP Swarmlord/Flyrant.

I had to cut the inside of the legs to make the modified joint fit in (thanks to Green Stuff + a magnet).

I've put magnets into the upper parts of the carapace to hold the wings in place. When the arms are in place, they're difficult to see.

Mounted in the flying body. I'm waiting for another 60mm base to come in the mail for it to be mounted on.

I love that Guardsman base.

I'm a big fan of the winged Tyrants legs. When I buy mine for a Swamrlord, I'll be also hunting down a spare torso and mount, as well as some devourer arms. It's actually a pretty economical thing for me.

One box, plus two Devourer arms and a torso and torso mount, lets me finish my current FW flyrant by giving it either the Devourer arms or the lashwhip and bonesword, make a second flyrant with the weapons I didn't give the FW flyrant, and also make a Swarmlord.

For people who own the Tervigon kit, can people tell me how wide it is at the front and back, and how long it is including the tail, and also how long the Tyrannofex is including the Rupture Cannon?

I got a laser cut 3 Carnifex, 2 Trygon tray from Battlefoam. My Carnifexes fit in the Trygon holes due to having magnetised arms, but I'm looking for a solution for a Tyrannofex with Rupture Cannon and a Tervigon. The Carnifex holes are actually quite big - 6" long, nearly 4" wide at one end and about 3" wide at the other.

Really hoping the Tervigon/Tyrannofex will fit in those large Carnifex holes.

The tervigon mounts on a oval Valk type base. Whether it will actually fit is a matter for how you assemble it and where you mount it on the base. Could be done. Could also need custom cuts.

I hope these will help:
Tervigon/Tyrannofex is about 4.25" wide with the extremities being the front two legs' spikes.
Tervigon is about 7.5" long from tail to tip of the protruding tongue.
Tyrannofex is about 8.5" long with the Rupture Cannon.

Thanks Absolutionis. They won't fit. Oh well, I guess Battlefoam will be getting another order from me soon.

Hopefully they'll put the shapes on the template maker, and I can make one that will fit my Hive Tyrant as well.
