Excellent idea, very clever and well done. I always liked that guy, although the Squid was my favorite

Sooo, anyone get a box of the Lizardmen and want to throw up a video?

I'm hoping Highlord Tamburlaine will feature them on Obscurities in Miniature at some point, but I'm anxious to hear what people think with them in hand.

Does anyone in the US have any lizardmen?

As for their contest, I would be delighted if it came down to the memeyest entries, especially some form of Sci fantasy frogmen or Lizardmen.

I am a little pessimistic about the contest. I have the feeling it will just come down to which Napoleonic set or Roman set.... I mean... if those will be the ones that sell the best, then that is better for Wargames Atlantic... but it means that fantasy sets will not really be a contender...

there's plenty of variety in the suggestions, and I think the fantasy or SF folk will be more inclined to vote for a variety of sets,

where a focused Napoleonic's player might only want the Portuguese (for example) and won't be so interested in the Austrians, or British (or may even only want one particular regiment

it's going to be interested to see

I hope you are right. I would be interested in some historic sets... Like Winged Hussars or Amazons (pseudo historic?) that could be used as fantasy.

I dont begrudge any sets getting produced. Winter campaign east asian Market Prussians with handlebar mustaches... December 1821,,, would make a cool set, just not one i would be interested in... Or would I?

But the more plastic sets in general, the better. I am sure there are people who feel the same way about halflings or Lizardmen...

I entered my plastic miniature white whale, hooded, robed monks/cultists. If you add AK arms like the lizardmen, they're useful for historical, fantasy, pulp, or sci-fi. (Drum-fed Thompsons would also be acceptable.)

I have yet to see a single sprue of lizards available in the US.

You know as soon as I get them I'll post them too.

I liked the camp follower idea too but felt the Napoleonic theme was a bit too specific.

I'd prefer just a generic camp follower set that could be used across a multitude of wars/games/systems.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I must admit, I've thrown Death Fields Agincourt Bowmen in the mix.

Who wouldn't want some thing like a sci fi Bretonnian to be a supporting retinue for Imperial Knights?

Guess I'll find out if I get to the voting rounds.

Huh, missed that on the contest, threw my hat into the ring with Centaur Cossacks for both fantasy and sci fi play after mulling through some other high tier (to me) ideas like Snake Men/Women and Centaur Winged Hussars.

They would make pretty terrible medieval monks or monk-hood and robes style cultists, yeah.

Also, I second the making of camp women as an actual kit. Even if it's just one sprue mono-builds. They look great!

Heh, guess we had similar tastes in our childhood!
Still have a few dozens of them in the attic.
I have a lot of 28mm G.i.joe and cobra conversions, but I would never have thought of using the Einherjar for this. Very inventive!

Hah! I wondered the same, my fish was wood too. I guess they were randomised, the later ones with the lenses probably weren't.
Theres some good YouTube videos on them, I believe by Toygalaxy, maybe Retroblasting?

Games Workshop are not your friends. They are not a small dev trying their best. They are a multibillion dollar company making calculated decisions about how many costs they can cut, how lazy they can be about relases, and how much they can paywall. They will do it again. Stop giving them money for this.

From GW you can get some older infantry kits that are 16 multipart miniatures for 22 Pounds, so it seems like Wargames Atlantic is following in GW's footsteps pricing-wise.

So Wargames Atlantic sells at 1.05 pound a figure and GW sells at 1.37 pound a figure?
Games Workshop is 30% more expensive per figure than Wargames Atlantic. And that is the most favorable comparison you can make for GW using decade+ old infantry kits. What is the per pound cost of GW's modern infantry kits (who are likely monopose and mono build with few left over bits)?

I wouldn't call that following in GW's footsteps pricing wise.

Mortek Guard (a much more recent, multipart plastic set) are $60 US for 20 human-sized figures, so almost twice as much for fewer figures. Math works out to $1.46 US per WGA Lizardman, or $3.00 per GW figure, and most modern GW kits work out to $4 per model or more.

You can get things like the chaos marauders and a few other fantasy kits at a slightly higher price point than Wargames Atlantic, but the price per model is still higher and those won't have modern or victorian era weapons as well in the same kit. On a fantasy versus fantasy, the older kits may be closer but you don't get the same amount of conversion options out of a single box.

What is the comparison that is being made here? That another company offers less models for more money?

At the moment, the only GW territory that Wargames Atlantic us approaching is the ability to use the Death Fields range as proxies for certain IG regiments.

The Einherjar being short Vikings in space is a purely coincidental crossover with Squats.
