Very Nice. Spot on. Still I'd go a bit further ( assuming this is still a WIP ) a yellow/ orange layer and (daring ) an White Moonpie Highlight white on the Actual Blade

I have to say, I was skeptical of adding in the yellow on the blade but now that it's done I really like it. Once I have some better lighting I'll take another picture to show you how it turned out.

On a slightly different note, I need to get a battle in. All of this new codex reading and ice angel painting has gotten me excited to break out the 8 foot board, some ruins, and a frozen river. Time to roll up some death!

Yesterdays WIP. The remaining two guards got some love. The axe wielder now has a completed jump pack. All that's left for him are some wings and some ribbon work. After painting the axe red, I think I'll be going back to the banner wielder and painting the hilt of his sword red as well.

We have some wings. I'm hoping to get another good chuck of painting in this weekend.

I do have a very important decision to make. Do you guys remember these guys?

They are on deck after the guard are completed. My question is though, what color should i paint the wall? That may seem like a minor problem but then I started thinking about it. What ever color I paint that wall, will probably match a building and what ever color I paint a building may match the neighborhood. Now, given the fact that i have some ruins already but no buildings I have been debating about doing something a little different then the usual greys everyone paints their ruins and buildings. Green or purple, perhaps yellow.

SO the big question of the day, what color should my collection of damaged buildings be? Keep in mind my board looks like this,

Pink.

Heh, the lazy fart in me says black/dark gray or metal, so we could bang out the terrain quickly in an afternoon.

Don't you love how big the questions get off of stupid little things? Like, I started to wax lyrical in my head about what is the standard manufacturing material for the Imperium? Is that what they used or was it improvised? Is improvisation a capital offense? Either way, how is it affected by snow? Do I want to eat a donut? Why is there only the crappy coffee left? Oh, I drank the good stuff..

Maybe like a ridiculously rusted orangy red like rusty burnt umber? Orange is blue's complement and your favorite color. Dunno. Again, something we can bang out in an afternoon..

The pink army always wins. You beat the pink army? Go ahead and brag about it. You lost to the pink army? Well, then....

Dark grey with a heavy rust then dusted with white from above and at the base.

I can make you some of these if you want.. The are foam board. The levels are designed to fit most dread sized models and easily customizable. They are made with ease of gaming first and display terrain second.

Solar, did you just volunteer some of your terrain making expertise? I'd love some of your terrain! Painted any way you want.

Moonpie, I like your idea as well. Why not have some faded orange buildings? Heck, they don't even have to all match do they? The weird ones we can always cover in ork glyphs and blame the greenskins on any ways, right?

Sure.. They be basic buildings. Painted and freestanding - not based. I'll let you tweek them. Give me till after AC.

I'll paint then like this..but I'll add a top down blue mist followed buy a white mist. Same on the bottom edges.

I had another thought. We still have that Krylon Crystal Coat stuff or could get more. For your board we could spray the building down with that. A few shots of matte varnish in places will make it look like it is almost totally covered in a sheen of ice. It will also make it durable.

I'll give it a go with my meger artistic talents. I looking forward to the new challenge. I won't be doing any real large buildings ( like the 30' per side ) so the'y be more useful and manageable. As alway feel free to paint them regardless how I paint them . They should match your idea of compatable terrain.

Again after AC. oh and it'll be warming up so .. Yah!

Smaller pieces always see a lot more use at my house. I have an ork garage, for example, it hardly gets used at all because it dominates the table when its out. Smaller pieces would be awesome!
