Mutated Chosen Chaos Marine

Matrim wrote:It doesn't seem to have a plan to it. it looks as if you've got a necron body, dabbed glue, and dunked it in a feth load of bitz.
Ah, well all I can say on that one is that its not even primed yet. There is a cohesive idea in mind, reflected in the blog in my siggy. I knew it would draw a bit of hate from purists. Its all good. It'll look cohesive and proper once its finished and shown along side the army it's being modeled for.
As far as it being dabbed and dunked, its actually pretty damn hard to trim down, GS, and pose parts from disparate kits into something that reflects a biomechanical theme. There isn't much glue at all in the model at this point. Most of the bitz are trimmed down from a huge variety of things into a rough fit, then filed to a close fit...little bit of GS to smooth the joins where I want an organic look. Wish I had a vise and drill. Maybe these pics will make the direction I'm going a bit more clear....understandably some folks aren't going to dig it. Its a break from the GW strictures for sure.
Also included are models in process of stripping. Possessed, random termies, stock DP, random muhreenz.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Praxiss wrote:Ah, gotcha, it does look a lot better bulked out. You gogin to use a "normal" marine arm for the other arm...or something else? A powerfist arm + shoulder pad could serve to add a bti more bulk to the body as a whole.
What will you be playing it as? A DP or a Lord on a mount?
That gun looks mean BTW. nice work.
DP at this point, although the model is weird enough to play as several things. The gun is a clipped and filed Necron Heavy Destroyer gauss weapon with added bitz from 4 different kits to try and give it a more chaotic feel. The other arm is going to be a gun, probably built around something from an Ork sprue. The CCW are modeled as the tendrils and mandibles on the lower hull. Basically he doesn't need more weapons because he IS a weapon....made of weapons.

Cool! My brother would love that one. Could give him some inspiration on Tau converting. I like the transformers idea and movable joints!

I'm curious. On the convertible Tau suit, did you use magnet or some kind of cast snap in part? Lemme know....I love the idea.

Thanks GS. The old Maggot King unfortunately hasn't seen a battle since the glory days of the Lost & the Damned mini codex. But I'd probably run him as a Chaos Lord on a palanquin. He was nasty in the old rules

I'd be worried that if you put any more guns on it, it would fly backwards when it fired.
Ok, well, since this was the thread that got me hooked on this place, I thought I better post one of mine. Nice and simple, really, and not a massively original idea, but I've gotten rather fond of this guy:
I'm half way through painting him, and I'm working on a Elf Princess based off the Sigvald model. Everything in this thread makes me want to crack out a 40k army again, though, and mod massive great guns onto anything that looks even remotely mechanical.

I've got a couple of conversions that I'm fairly happy with. The first is a BSB for my Dark Elf army based on the Prince Althran model, he's not quite finished yet. I still need to do a few touch ups, put some sort of design on the banner and base him.
The second is my Tzeentch DP which leads my Thousand Sons army.
note to self: convert more stuff so I don't have to keep posting pics of the same DP whenever conversions are brought up.....
I suppose I could also argue that my entire Black Templars army is converted but that's really just kit bashing since I just use a lot of upgrade parts and very few regular marine bits.
