Exclusive to GenCon, people get them based on if they win or lose to the lion during the demo.

They are 2 special cards for GenCon attendees who try the game if you get defeated by the Lion you get 1 - the dying lantern if you win you get the other - the vibrant lantern. Only the showdown phase is being demo'd

There's some news on BGG from Joshua R (who is the source of the card photo) - spoilered as I know there are some here who want to know nothing until they get it (are ye tempted )

Spoiler:
Combat is very interesting. On the one hand, there was a lot of missing or hitting and then failing the damage roll, which can be frustrating... But then the three other players were knocked out and I actually came super close to finishing off the Lion's last three damage all by myself (I had two chances where the right roll would have done it, but failed). So, kind of typical for dice-based combat.

The hit locations are interesting, you might roll two hits, pull two hit locations, then you choose which order they go in, and that can make a big difference because maybe if you choose the wrong one and fail the hit location roll, something might happen to invalidate your other hit... So there at a lot of ways for things to go terribly wrong.

On the other hand, there's always a chance you might live, no matter how dire things are looking (until you have 5 bleeding wounds, anyway) - so that sword cuts both ways.

Sometimes things felt not so thematic, like drawing an "eye" hit location when you're standing directly behind the lion (that's where his blind spot is), or being able to move from being right in front of him, into his blind spot, and attacking from there for the +1 bonus... But really, the only reason these things seemed bad for theme is because everything else seems so good for the theme, and the odd things stand out more.

Just under £70 for the model. Cards are on auction and are at £12 currently on 1 bid

If he finds someone to buy it that didnt take the time to find out it was going to be for sale after GenCon, then good for him.

Don't usually follow ebay but I've seen the recent KD releases, notably the Mage and Distracted models, selling for ~$150+. It's a ridiculous mark-up but people are buying. That should say something of demand and why I'm sure many of us wish Kingdom Death offered more supply.

That's true. But, in my defense!, the last part of the email seemed to be solely about the game pre-order - something I've not much interest in. Didn't expect the availability info to be divorced from the Twilight Knight section. Lesson learned, though.

Whoo-hoo!

Cincy based Ninjas are the best Shopping Ninjas!

Seeing the pics of the production stuff 'in the wild' has me seriously reconsidering my previous intentions on selling off my pledge.

It all looks...so good...

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

I believe if you spent over $600 you actually get to keep the UPS truck that the package comes in.

By far away do you physically - as in the UK to the USA?

Boy do I ever want that.

I see someone getting eaten by the antelope's belly/ genital cavity in one of those pictures.

It still seems almost surreal that this is finally going to wrap up.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I don't recall any information on the arrival date of the expansions? I believe that only the core box is showing up? I'd say this is only partially wrapping up.

Spoiler:

I was the last survivor standing. Dude before me had decimated the Phoenix, and died. Had no AI cards left.

50/50 chance to hit. Made it. Wound on a 3+ iirc, made it. One hit, one kill. I took down the Phoenix!
