These are stolen from a wonderful thread by a guy named The Dude who, in addition to being a Big Lebowski fan, has waded through about 1500 pages of the original Apocalypse thread to piece this together. I've added a few other things from his thread.

Original thread:

---

Release is rumoured to be October with pre-release on GD UK

Rules for games of 3000+ points

Some say it’s a huge book (almost if not as big as the Rulebook), others say it’s as big as Cities of Death. Some have mentioned the possibility of multiple editions
Warseer poster bigred posted info from 40kforums.com listing book as $50

Games will reportedly not use the FOC (entire armies of dreadnaughts or daemons, etc.) and possibly not Points limits. Some insist points are still used and that a player with fewer points can restore balance through using extra stratagems.

Boards rumored to be 8x4, setup diagonally across from each other 18" apart.

Super-heavy tank rules. Most say they are in the main book, some say they could be in a future supplement. They will supposedly work almost exactly the same way as in the Forge World books, but it’s been reported they “tend to explode in a more spectacular fashion”

Warlord, Revenant and possibly other Titans will supposedly see rules. It has been suggested that models will be forthcoming, but not until plastic technology catches up with requirements (ie a LONG way off)

Some say Fliers didn’t make the cut, whilst others insist they are in the book including the Thunderhawk, the Lightning and the Valkyrie and that they now do not leave the table.

Hydra Flack Tanks (and possibly other AA options) are supposedly in the book

There have been rumours of a new Land Raider variant called the Terminus which has four sets of twin-linked lascannons & no transport capability

A weapons strength will possibly have the option of saying D (for death). Baleanoon tells us the description for Strength D reads something like:
"These weapons are so powerful that they require no dice rolling to wound, any model hit automatically dies, thats right no armour saves, invulnerable saves, this weapon doesn't care about your dodge save or demonic powers."
Baleanoon also claims that one of Warhound's and one of the Stompa's weapons have Strength D.
Patriarch mentioned that the Epic Armageddon titan killer strength weapons are probably comparable. These are:
Volcano cannon (previously defence laser) - shadowsword, warlord titans.
Pulse Laser (Pulsar) - Eldar Phantom/Warlock Titans. Smaller versions on Revenant and Scorpion SHT.
Heat lance - Eldar Phantom/Warlock Titans.
Deathstrike missile - IG
Power Fists - Warlord & Reaver titans
D cannon - Eldar cobra SHT. Smaller versions are Eldar support/Wraithlord weapons.
Orks - mostly Gargant close combat weapons.
Keep in mind this last tidbit is not a rumor for apocalypse, just a list of possibilities.

An Orbital Bombardment with 6 linked Ordinance templates (or a special new template) has been mentioned as a possible stratagem

Some rules simplifications have been hinted at, such as any weapon of S7+ ignores armour saves entirely (which prompted someone else to comment "autocannon: the new lord of the 41st millenium"

There have been rumours of ally lists; ie SM & guard, Chaos & orks etc.
Some have suggested an Eye Of Terror style Order and Disorder division.

Formations:

Taking “Formations” of units could reportedly provide in-game bonuses. For example:

-Imperial Guard can field Ogryn Auxiliary Companies, consisting of 3 squads of 5 Ogryns, giving the player a free command squad, and commissars may be attached directly to the units.

-10 Leman Russ tanks earns you a command tank that helps to ignore crew shaken/stunned effects

-3 or more Necron monoliths generate a "Shadow Field" giving whatever is inside the formation +1 to we'll be back rolls. Also no psychic powers work within the field.

-SM Land Speeders (possibly unarmed) can act as “spotters” for Whirlwinds, giving them unlimited range. This unit may be released as a boxed set.

-Space Marine Chapter Council with individual members (i.e. master of the fleet) supplying bonuses such as flanking maneuvers

-Marines may be able to take 3 vindicators as a unit allowing them to target the same point, getting a 10 inch template.

-Abaddon may be able to take a very large Terminator retinue. Another poster claimed that fluffwise he'll be killed off.

-Tau may get a formation of one command unit, and body guard. 3 Crisis Suit units, and a number of Stealth Suits.

-Special Markerlight options for squadrons of 3 + hammerheads

-Eldar "Windrider Host" composed mostly of jetbikes/vypers. Supposedly grants a pre-game redeployment ability

-Bonesinger may get rules

-3 Wave Serpents may combine their energy fields to reduce incoming fire to a maximum of S:7

-Ork "Kult of Speed" similar to Eldar Windrider Host in that once during the game the entire formation (possibly 30 bikes) can redeploy to ANYWHERE on the board.

These options might come in the form of stratagems

Models:

Baneblade
New Baneblade done, painted and being used in Studio games
Some say it is 1 inch larger than the FW one all round. Some say 1 inch smaller.
Reports tell of 3 additional variants:
- Different turret option (some say Yarrick’s personal Baneblade)
- Chaos (some say Nurgle specific)
- Ork
The hull has supposedly been designed with empty sections to make it easier to convert
Price rumoured to be between £50 and £100 with £60 seeming to be favourite. One poster (bigred) found info on 40kforums.com that pointed to a $95 kit.

Ork Stompa
A large kit by Aly Morrison. Reportedly 8 sprues, supposedly put on hold until they can work out how to get it onto fewer sprues.

Drop Pods
The usual “problems in production” excuse. Expect to see as a later release maybe with the Blood Angels or Space Wolves Codex

whenever they come.
Supposedly there are 3 options
- Standard
- Deathwind
- Dreadnought

Daemon Engine?
One or two posters mentioned a defiler-esque vehicle on treads

Trygon
Not much known. A possible future release.

Valkyrie
A model was seen, but never intended for release. It was made to test the large model production systems.
It’s a possible future release if sales of other large models are good, as they already have it scanned into the computer.

Space Marine Battle Company
Includes parts for the following:
- 6 Tactical squads
- 2 Assault Squads
- 2 Devastator Squads
- Command Squad
- Dreadnought
- Land Raider
- Predator
- "Extra stuff" like decals
comes in a big wooden crate
Two Aussie Warseer posters with a hobby shop (Sheep & Seven Nation Army) were sent the following "battle company" by GW:
    * 1 - Company commander
    * 1 - Command Squad (5 models)
    * 15 - Assault Marines
    * 60 - Tactical Marines
    * 10 - Devastator Marines
    * 1 - Razorback
    * 8 - Rhinos
Total of 91 marines & 9 vehicles, came in cardboard box labeled "1x battle company armageddon games"
Possibility of a bigger, direct-only box containing the sprues for 400+ marines costing upwards of $1200 (price given was 600 British pounds).

Bregalad has put forward a list of other possible Apocalypse releases:
-Imperial Guard commissars (3 different poses, seen already)
-Imperial Guard Ogryn (probably bone'ead, seen already)
-New Necron Lord with ressurrection orb (Spyder body?)
-Bonesinger (or Farseer?) on jetbike.
-New Space Marine commanders (possibly the Chapter Council or Masters of the Chapter)
-New Space Marine Veterans
-Ork Mek with Super Shoota

Rumored boxes of 3 tanks for price of 2: Leman Russ, basilisk, chaos & loyalist predator, vindicator, hammerhead

and some rumoured (far) future releases:
-Eldar Revenant Titan
-Necron Pylon
-Thiunderhawk

Dakka on World of Warcraft:

MANNAHNIN: I know two guys who have had to quit the game cold turkey because the time investment required by it caused problems with their family life.

I'll confirm only what I know, rest might be true, i just don't have a clue.

GW US is running tournaments at many local retailers on Sept. 22nd. These are 2500pt 40k tournatments that don't use the new rules. Sort of a kick off event. We may however have advance copies of the new codex to show off. This indicates pretty stongly a first to third week of October release date, and that's backed up by the new trade orderform.

3000 pts and up has been stated, and that you probably are going to need at least 8x4 space, and that obviously you might want more as it goes up.

Baneblade obviously. Trygon, not. Jervis answered this question at Games Day Baltimore.

-New Space Marine commanders (possibly the Chapter Council or Masters of the Chapter)
-New Space Marine Veterans
-Ork Mek with Super Shoota

All these are listed in the new trade order form.

As to the rest, there's some stuff I know about, but am not at liberty to say. What I haven't heard at all from GW, is much of the Forgeword wish list. I personally would love to see Apocalypse have a lot of FW superheavy rules, but I'm not really hearing anything at all to indicate that there will be any. Time will tell.

I will say that it's going to be very easy for family members to know what you want for Christmas, and there will be some very large boxes available at my shops, along with GW's shops, for your loved ones to put under the tree for you all.

40k just got a whole lot cooler.

My gaming group pretty much plays ONLY games of 3000+ a side, usually on a 6x8 board (or 6x4 ftw). The no FOC is kinda crappy, but I love the formation rules, time for 3 vindi über-templates

Also, bring on the demon engines, the only 40k stuff I plan to buy in the near future.

I really don't want to play 3000+ points games (things just get bogged down and too crowded), but I'm definitely looking forward to the new releases with this book.\

The 3 for 2 Chaos Predators is tempting too (must resist).

I was kinda hoping the rules were streamlined to help prevent bogging down. Sadly i've not seen much indication that this'll be a faster system.

I kinda feel sorry for the IG players. They're gonna do themselves a damage flinging dice that first shooting phase

People still play CoD at my local FLGS. I think it totally depends on your local make-up and how much you promote or look for games.

Hmmm. I think I'd rather play Epic, but the super heavies at 40K scale could be cool. Pity it's currently so imperium centric...

The club I belong to has always played one or two large scale games that were usually about 5-6K per side.  We'd play on large tables and I found some things were problematic (and I hope that GW addresses it too!)

-  Tau & other armies with 6 foot+ range do extremely well in the shooting phase. On an 8' X 4' table marines and other armies with 48" range can fire at enemies in a very small arc while the Tau can concentrate fire ANYWHERE on the table

-  a measly 6" move makes it very difficult to get anywhere in the game.  Troops on the flank can easily become obsolete.  The 40K movement system was meant for playing on  a smaller table where the enemy cannot run and hide. I was tinkering with a rule that allowed units the ability to move laterally across their deployment zone at double distance. . .

-  Fast moving armies (like Tau)  also have the advantage because they can setup in one point and then quickly move to somewhere else. So if your rhino gets toasted sit tight and wait for turn six.

-  The first round of shooting takes about an hour and a half. . . :(

- I have no desire to collect 10 leman russes. . . so that I can buy an 11th leman russ which I can play for "free" as a command tank. (gosh! can I really!?!?) Although one guy in our group has about a bakers dozen Lemans. . .

-- 15 Ogryns don't sound much better either. . .

I am interested to see what GW did with this and if they took into account any of these issues.

I have 30 Russes, arrayed in three 10-tank Armoured Companies. It's an impressive sight to behold... and range problems go away when you've got 72" range pie plates...

No doubt GW thought deeply about these kind of points and did extensive design and playtesting in order to come up with original, imaginative and playable solutions.

I sometimes wonder about that.
I mean, the playtesters are in the studio environment- they have oodles of fantastic scenery, and access to limitless miniatures. their situation is very different to the average gamers.

Oh I knew he was being sarcastic, but it got me thinking again about the studio environment, and how wierd it must be to game in. I mean, I have a small, 4' by 4' board, because that is all I can fit in my apartment. I ain't gonna be able to enjoy apocolypse for that reason, and also because I don't have the money to blow on superheavies.
Whereas they are unlimited by space and price, and scenery quality.
(Scenery is one of my biggest problems currently- I have a couple of forests, a few hills and a water feature for fantasy, and they don't take up much space. I tried to build a ruined city for 40K, but I have nowhere to store the damned thing!)

Waiting for plastic technology to improve, before making Titans? Sounds like GW is making excuses, or they just don't want to invest in either the larger machines or outsourcing to get the work done. There are a number of model kits out there in that size range, so the technology is definitely out there. It's just expensive to do anything in that size.

Compared to Revel's 1:72 USS Gato, or the 1:35 Dora railgun kits.... Titans shouldn't be a problem at all.

Well the Deathwing only consists of 100 Terminators. The puts a cap of about 5000 points on the Deathwing - plus supporting characters and tanks...

Of course the silly thing is you can only take one 'Commander' type character in that entire army (Belial).

I'm hoping they use the old forced-march rules like they did way back in an old WD years ago; this would help with movement issues in giant games like Apoc refers to.

Basically, every unit could move double their movement distance, even fast vehicles at maximum could do so, but these units could not fire if they did so. I believe if the units were hit by incomming fire when they forced-march, they suffered some sort of extreme casualty effect or something like that. I also think they were denied cover saves or any glancing hits due to the speed of their movement.....but I can't really recall.

If they use some sort of format for these rules, I think Apocalypse would be decent as far as the movement modes go though...

No.

But Lysander's Imperial Fists Terminator strike force from Phalanx may quite well be.
"D" strength weapons have me worried though. That may be the one thing to make taking termies a very  undesirable proposition.

If there really no longer is a FOC for apocalypse games, then add in a damocles, a vulture gunship, etc.

Whew, excuse me, dunno where that came from, but I agree that foot troops get lost or templated in most megas I play.  I've learned the hard way that CSM, or at least mine, have all their shooting power at short to mid range, so I've had to adapt by using infiltration and rhinos to move up field and take up useful tactical positions.  No need for "everyone fleets ftw" and such, though I agree that some manner of march would be useful on big boards especially.

That's when a buddy of mine and I team up our Necron forces. 4 Monoliths, 80 Warriors, and then "Other stuff" up to somewhere around 5k points.

Big boards are going to be interesting with teleportation.
