Yep That's a sticky trap Vik! ^^^

Even with a name that suggests a female, I try to stay gender neutral until I know for sure (and I didn't know for sure until about a minute ago! )....I seem to remeber doing the same thing you did with Weety about a year or more ago.

Oh, and Jacqualine, when you do start the blog, take a picture of the "game/workshop room formerly known as a two car garage" I don't think there is a person on this site, including me, that isn't at least a little curious as to what everyone else's hobby area looks like!

aye to all acounts... i was in to the weety charcter^^ because neil already refered to her as a female... it is always better to have someone else fall in to a trap than yourself

Hmmm... that'd mean I'd have to clean it though

So, Jake, what are you working on now?

Made in us

Everett, WA

Nah, cleaning it is not mandatory.

Working on? Trying to catch up on sleep! Lately I haven't found much time to do anyhting but make a few casts of stuff, I can get the prep work done at my desk, and can pour the resin in the basement, so I'm only out of earshot of the kids for maybe 10 minutes. And by the time everyone is in bed, I am beat, so not much getting done. I was all set last night to get to work early, and dangit, I forgot America's Got Talent was on! I got stuck watching that for two hours. *sigh* I wish I could say my wife made me watch it, but that is not the case...

But projects that I get to when I can:

Female Heresy Investigator - Still working on the arms.
Visored Skull Helmet.
Sculpting Word Bearer Icons on Mk I Rhino Hatches
Sculpting Space Wolf Icon on MK III Rhino Hatches
Hoping to start a Female Priest
drawing concept art for a Female Monster Hunter
drawing concept art for at least 3 other projects that I need to start
Finishing touches on the Pirate Captain
I want to start sculpting bodies for the Pirate Crew
And putting together an all female IG Army! (well, one squad anyway) I think I might try sculpting arms for them, as Cadian arms seem too bulky.

Not much really.

Ok, just for you two, here is a pic of part of my workshop... no more pics until its clean though

I also started my own thread, the link is in my sig (I did it all by myself! My wife would be proud!)

I am so jealous of some people's work areas. When/if we get a new house, I hope I have some room to spread out. Love it though! It looks great!

I hope you get the space to spread out
It really helps to have dedicated hobby space, and it certainly saves the rest of the house from getting messy. So no resin on the carpet!

My wife and I are both hobbyists, so we decided to convert the garage so that we could keep all the mess in a room we can just close the door to when we have company. Works great, the dining room and living room stay spotless since we're never in there LOL. We also have a pool table and a beer fridge in there, and a flocked 10'x6' apoc board that goes over the pool table for wargaming. Though it mostly winds up being a work table for preparing my silicone and resin (don't worry, we use a canvas painter's drop cloth to protect the gaming surface - works a treat!)

Thanks! I'm still looking for a cool 40k themed spaghetti strap top to show them off though...

OH! You meant the paint racks... +blushes and hides+

@Jake
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do for the female Priest (Why don't you just call her a Priestess BTW?) That's something I don't already have plans on how to make for my army. I was also thinking about eventually snapping up some of those visored skulls to make Vindicaire Assassin conversions - I think that'd be ace!

Jacqualine - You just described my dream hobby room! I don't think I'll be able to get THAT much space, but just one room would be great. We are actually looking at a house that has an Artist Studio out-building. But it is actually set up as a second living unit, so it would most likely become a rental for added income, and I would still be stcuk to a small corner of one room. But I'd have more money for hobby stuff....I guess I'd be OK with that.

Hey, as long as the top is 40k themed, it won't get censored, right?

And yes, I had thought of calling her a Priestess, but that brought images of Conan the Barbarian to mind, instead of a female version of an IG Priest with eviscerator. It is a commission project, and the client wants a scantily clad figure, screaming a war charge, and holding the eviscerator up for attack. If you like it, you could always do a head swap.

And the visored skull head is another commission that is intended for an "assassin themed army", so yeah, it should work as a head swap for a vindicare.

at jacqueline... now there is a pair of hobbiests that seems to not run out of paints in a hurry...

the only thing i currently see as a problem is the not enough legspace under your desk... seems there are four drawers under the desk? how do you paint there? or is it a trick of the eye?...and i will shortly look into your thread...be warned

oh jake... seems the family is draining you... and nothing family friendly i could suggest here... only that you live on nerves and that you get used to four hours a day worth of sleep...which is nothing i could seriously suggest to anyone...so...everything will take it´s course...

Not sure what Dave is getting at there...

But...Update!

OK, so LDD has been looking for a "Jawa Blaster" replica from Star Wars. I made this mock-up of one of my Steampunk Rifles, but he is looking for something that is an exact replica so, this one didn't make the grade, but it still looks pretty cool, what do you guys think?
Maybe I can call it a Steampunk shotgun? If I do that, I might add a lever to it.

Also, I smoothed out the Visored Helmet and added a few things, I still want to add an antenna thing on the side, but it's getting close.

And I have been working on the Female Heresy Investigator. Just the arms. The Right Arm will have armor all the way down the arm. The left arm will be bare from the shoulder pad to the power fist.

That's all I have at the moment...I could have gotten some more done last night, but I started watching Starship Troopers, and you can't just have SST on in the background...you have to watch it.

Thanks for looking,

RSJake

The skull head is coming on very nicely!

I love your steam punk weapons. I don't think it looks like a shotgun though.

I like the idea of armour down one arm on the Investigator

Thanks Tipios! You are right, it's not much of a shotgun, but if I added some more tubes and such, maybe I could pull off a plasma rifle type thing. We'll see.

the barreltip probaly prevents the true shotgunny look... the lever idea i like... and with lots of more pipes and stuff a plasma gun it could develop in too...

the upcoming antenna makes me kinda egdy for the skull helmet... that wiull be a great addition (pun not inteded...)

the FHI looks very good... i totally like the new shoulderpad! also the pose looks now very promising... just realized all those small pistons on the legs... if this is completed i need one of these models out of sheer need to stay complete^^ i need that one on a shelf^^...ups...i think that was the dumbest move in haggling for a price

I'm liking the female heresy investigator - she isn't really my style since I don't go much for the scantily clad, but I'll likely want to buy one just to steal the head for a guard conversion - there is a distinct lack of bionics-enhanced female heads on the market LOL

I was never a fan of the Jawa-type rifle, but what you have could also possibly become a steampunk heat-ray-gun

Vik, Thanks! Your comments on the FHI, are very welcome! And, no I won't increase a price just because I know someone wants it. Well...not too much anyway!

I'm still looking for ideas for her Demon-Hammer.

On the gun, I'll experiment, and see what I come up with....I could also make it look like a flame thrower! It does look like a propane weed burner that my Grandpa used to use!

I would have already had the helmet done, but the ear muff parts and the wires by the jaw were still soft, so I had to put it down before there were finger prints in it.

Made in de

Berlin Germany

aye... finger prints has to be avoided at all costs... to later not have some lawyers on you like cheap armor

the propane burner idea at first made me lol... but then i thought about these smaller catachan flame throwers...and this idea as a basis actually is pretty sound... a smaller one... and the weedkiller muzzle...that works!

i know we have talked about the demon hammer... but my mind is currently all balnk about the recent thoughts... what ideas/ help do you need?

Made in us

@ Jacqualine - You ninja'd me! I didn't even see your post! Thanks! I know scantily clad isn't for everyone. But if the client requests it, who am I to argue! But it can't be too bad, because my wife hasn't complained! Although she did see the torso before I added the armor, and she was mighty curious as to just what I was doing! If you just want a copy of the head, I'm sure that can be arranged.

As for the gun, I can probably do a few variants, one with some holes in the muzzle for a flamer look, add some energy coils for plasma, and heat-sink fins and tubes for a heat-ray! Then I just need one with a barrell that diameter the whole length for a grenade launcher!

I'll do some mock-ups of these ideas...see what you think.

@ Vik, I have some concepts for a hammer, just nothing I'm super excited about yet. I'm sure I'll sit down to do something else one of these nights and insipation will hit me. That's how most of my stuff works.

And hopefully, I don't need to worry about lawyers with my fingerprints. (Not untill my daughters are old enough to date at least.)

those guns look all amazing! and all are totally wysiwyg recog nizable... if you can do them that way... not much i could add there...the last one... the grenade launcgher... a big thuddgunn...with a reloader mechanism? cool...

the muzzle on the super heated metal^^ gun is a bit looking like a maze but other than that very good...

flamer is unflamable

and that super heated plasma gun :thumbsup...on all accounts!!! tho mebbe a different mag... as the IG mag for plasma is also different to the lasgun...

some stuff for food for thought ...
