@ El Vik - Thanks! the "Thudd" Gun - grenade launcher would have a single-shot, break open breach reloading system.

I'll try to make the "fins" on the Heat Ray gun a little smaller so it doesn't look like it could be used in Close Combat.

And I like cylindar you posted! that will look good on the plasma gun!

@ RW - Thanks! And I'll probably try either a hose to a backpack for the flamer, ot maybe attach two of the round "steam" canisters to the gun. I'll see.

@ Dave - Thanks! And I like the idea for the shotgun! I'll give that a try!

@ Squig - A drill? Maybe I'll save that for a conversion after the sculpt is done.

Anyway, not a big update, but I added the antenna thing to the visored helmet. I think I'm done with it. (after I clean it up a bit that is.) Maybe add a wire from the antenna to the helmet, but we'll see what the client thinks.

Thanks guys! I haven't done much with the special weapons yet, but I am getting ready to cast the Visored Helmet head.

Also, I worked on side hatches for a Word Bearers Mk I Rhino. Not sure if I posted the top hatch I did on this thread, if not, I'll show that too. I was asked to make Word Bearer specific hatches for a MK I rhino, I wanted something unique for the top hatch, so I made a banner that looks like it was made from human skin, and carved a passage from the "Book of Lorgar" into it. Then for the side hatches, I went with the more standard Word Bearer icons, but I made them a bit more detailed then the ones you usually see. At least that was the plan.

Here is the side hatch with the deamon head in flames. I started with the flames...


Then the demon head...(my wife said he looked like an old man at this stage)


Then with teeth and horns...


The other hatch is a book with a ball of fire on it...


And here are the side hatches along with the top hatch...


Still some clean-up to do, but I like how they look so far.

awwww.... why the demonface.... why not leave the flames just as...well flames? i have no idea what for but i would love to get my hand on such a well...stamp like pressmould for whatever one day would come up my mind!

Thanks Dave, I don't know what the skin thing is, other than a banner made of the skin of their enemies. I am planning on casting these hatch icons for the client, after that, I am hoping I'll be able to pop the skin banner off the hatch and it can be used as a hand-held banner on a pole. But we'll see. Also, after casting, if El Vik wants a cast of the flames, I can see if the demon head will pop off of the flames and I'll try to cast the flames on their own.

Speaking of casting, I have the Visored Skull Head curing in the second part of a two-part mold right now, hopefully I'll be able to see if the casts come out well tonight.

I had tried two-part molds a couple of times after watching several videos and tutorials on the subject, but I thought it was too difficult, and preferred the one-part-cut-in-half mold method better until jacqualine47 sent me some pics of the two-part mold process that she uses, and now I much prefer that method, so I want to send a huge THANK YOU! to jacqualine47. (also, my index finger was starting to hurt all the time from trying to hold the mold halves apart while cutting them.

Not much else done last night, hopefully more in the coming days. Stay tuned.

I am getting ready to send out the Sample Sprue of Steampunk Weapons to those that wanted them.

Also, El Vik asked if I could look into making some spare ammo magazines for automatic rifles. I guess an assortment of different types. Anyone have suggestions as to what type of Magazines would look good? I think they will be used as replacements to existing weapons, and as scenery pieces, in piles and in crates and such. Maybe some in pouches to put on minis.

Show me some example pics!

Also: I've fired a AK and its an amazing kick on the gun! After 3 or so shots it's a AA gun

For my Female tanith sniper i was looking for something clip like to match this type of rifle (bullets or slugs)



More idea's to come! but really what i would LOVE to see (besides my Female Heresy Investigator suggestion + Bicone hats) would be some scopes for laser rifles or human sized parachutes for sci fi gaming

Well thats not entirely true.

The anime takes place in the world at roughly 1914-1917 but its a fictionalized world. My closest guess would be the Mauser 98k but it could be the Mosin too since both guns more or less were in service by 1898.

What i was asking for was something like stripper clips that held the bullets or spent shells that looked like they came from the gun. I wasnt asking for removable magazines.

Thanks everyone! Don't stop now, if there are any more things like this you want to see let me know. I'm not going to make a full sniper rifle again, at least not right away. Just the magazines, and ammo clips, and I'll try to make the clips in such a way that the individual rounds can be cut off, and used individually.

I also plan to make a more steampunkish rifle scope, it was pointed out to me that the one I made was too modern looking (see below), and I agree. So I'll make one that looks more antique-y.


I assume there is a need for different sizes of indivual ammo? Smaller AK-47 type rounds and larger 50 Cal rounds as well?

Not much sculpting lately, but lots of mold making and casting getting done. Not much to show though.

Also, the Steampunk Weapon Sampler Packs have been sent! Yay! I expect it will take considerably long for the overseas shipments, but I hope you all get them as soon as possible!

The gun in that anime shot is closer to the Mauser 98, the Moisin Nagant had a ammo box that looked almost Enfield-esque.

hey jake... for a more steampunk looking scope i would suggest a look more like a telescope...like this:



much longer than nowadays scopes by far... and thinner...which would be rather difficult to sculpt on that scale and have enough details to look good and not be asecond barrel^^...

and if m,y brain comes up with more clip ideas i sure let you know...


by the way... the seperate bullet idea... lovley... and spent cases too...cool looking basing materials!
