If I ever do this again, remind me to wrap the damn legs and bottom floor grate in tape too ok?

Airbrush scares me too, I hate to clean ANYTHING! But it doesn't take too long, and the results of using it are really cool. Good luck!

I got here late. Sorry! Yeah, I usually bring in an old cardboard box to do my painting in. It still get all over the table...that I also put a load of newspaper down on!

The stuff gets everywhere! incuding your nose!

Yes, nothing has safety railings in the grimdark, but plenty of hazard-stripe painting servitors

Well, I cooked supper, ate supper, watched 2 episodes of Storage Wars and the paint was sufficiently dry enough for tape

And proceded to fade to black

Haha, nice!

The more you use the airbrush the more confident you'll get. If the paint is that runny you're probably applying it too heavily on one area or its too thin. Many multiple light passes is the key to airbrushing.

Why have railings when hazard stripes do the same job! Cheaper too i imagine

..And the big masking tape reveal!

Needs some touchup, especially on the lower rim, but that will be caked with rust in the end, so no worries.

And of course there is the matter of yellow overspray on the green, no sweat there either.

If I would have made the pipe in the center radioactive, I could've accidentaly created funky green lighting effects here.

I would say leave the yellow how it is. The worn faded look is fitting, add rust and scorch marks boom done!

Yeah, I will probably not fix the stripes, but I HAD to clean up the edges and re-paint the black and green

Heh, seems like that overspray created a cool effect once painted over. Like another layer of weathering, particularly on the ground layer.

I'm still not sure about the answer to that question...

Loving the stripes, DST! As for the overspray: live and learn and then get luvs.

Things are really coming along here. Bring on the weathering!

great progress here mate...and goes to show that we have nothing to fear than fear itself^^

seeing those hazard stripes i have one suggestion tho...on the yellow stripes i would do a thin black stripe in the middle... for my taste the stripes are a bit too wide...i hope i am not spoiling something of the coolness of that tower now...

but you working now with airbrush and gaining confident now with every use...that opens op a whole new range of options...painting will never be the same... now painting gets exiting^^

I like the size of the black stripes myself ……. I think if they were thinner it would make it look cluttered and steer your eye to much towards them.

I also like the way the paint has applied itself the black over bleed and patchy ness where the tape was has given it a distressed feel without you having to do so, maybe a bit of weathering here and there and the jobs a gooden.

I am not above allowing any "happy accidents" to remain and pretend that I meant to do it that way

But yes, some of the bleed through will definitely help with the weathering process.

There probably won't be any work tonight, as we are going to see the play "Young Frankenstein", one of our all-time favorite Mel Brooks films adapted to the stage.

I'm thinking of cracking open my airbruch case this weekend and giving my Mk I Rhino a good coat. I have been playing with the idea of a red camo. Using torn masking tape to add the secondary colors. We'll see if I feel adventurous or not.

Cool Jake, I look forward to seeing it! I need to learn more about mine, especially the different size patterns I can get from different nozzles and needles. I have 3 of each, but I don't know anything about them.
