Magic chicken looks great , and that wall is awesome as well. Is that a resin piece?
Also I just noticed and ordered , Miniaturemarket has some of the plastic replacement models from Rise of the Kage. Two sets of two figs for $2 each set . One is a Ninja and the other is a female spear lady. If nothing else a $1 a fig is a great deal for painting.

Thanks Fifty. I understand you completely, and there are several other historical games out there so it's not like Bushido is the only option.
Funny, for me it's been the fantasy aspect that's made it attractive. Aside from that it's got an excellent rule set that's about to get better & cleaner as they release version 2... sometime in the near future.

Isn’t “a new Dawn” version two? I hope it is because it’s on its way to me .

Just dawned on me that I haven't really posted many WIP photos of my Bushido stuff. Here's what I'm working on right now. A rather large mistic owl. Hard to tell but he's actually levitating. What makes this unusual is that it's actually the first normal sized figure that I decided to paint in pieces before assembly.
First shot: main body done
Second shot: painted and added arms and did basing (for the heck of it)
Last step will be painting and attaching the six tiny birds that are dragging him through the air (the upturned parts of his cloak will have little birds attached to them). I've picked the bird (Orange Headed Thrasher), now it's just a matter of getting the work done. Hopefully tonight. I'm very skeptical that all these little bits are going to stay on the model...

I was just looking on eBay (coupon is 10% off right now) and saw that fig and wondered why you didn’t have it . Looking good. Your feather work is always something to behold.
Is that a GW paint gripper? Do you like using those? I use poster tack on top of an old paint pot myself.

I've had this model for a while now, it's just not really good rules-wise so I wasn't in a big rush to paint it. That being said it's a very cool model and it's not horrible on the table, so I imagine you'll see it quite a bit in my videos... it's just as points-efficient as some of my other choices.
I really like the GW gripper. I only wish there was a way to open the jaws with one hand so the other was left free to insert the mini. With larger bases like this one you have to balance the model on the top of the gripper while opening the jaws with both hands carefully until they're far enough apart for you to wiggle the model in place. It was invaluable on a model like this. All those tiny birds (see below) are just barely glued on and completely surround the body of the figure, making it impossible to grab and hold once they're on. That's why I painted the body first, before attaching the arms or the birds.
Finished product below. BTW the birds are "orange headed thrushes". Just a camera pic so not the best. It's very hard to get a good photo of this model because its a *very* round sculpt and 3-dimensional (if you get my meaning) so in any 2-d view you're not seeing most of the model.

It might just be my time playing WHFB, but I’m getting a very strong Slann mage-priest vibe from him. Big floating spellcaster being dragged around by little helpers.
New battle report is up! Tengu vs. Cult, 50 rice, ryodo mission. Justin and I battle it out for farm supremacy! I'm doing a special Halloween custom mission. No idea how it'll turn out but it should be a lot of fun in any case.

I’m bummed out, my Bushido book has gone lost in the mail, over two weeks overdue now, and I was about to order more figs and cards on the GCTstudios.com website, but they’ve been under maintenance the last two days at least. Hope they got a better server as it was always super slow when I’d log in.
Do you know anything more on their release schedule? I haven’t paid enough attention to them before now to know how long it takes for them to show things like the bear off and for it to come up on the website.
The video was great by the way. I’m thinking my next army will be Cult of Yurei, Silvermoon Sindicate or Ninja. Do you have any suggestions after fighting them?

@Theo: Not sure what happened to your book... but if there's any consolation you don't need it as it's out-of-date by several updates. I can point you to an on-line PDF that is fully updated and is all I use now when I play (directly from my phone). It's just the rules, not all the fluff... but it gives you everything you need to play.
We don't have anyone locally who plays Silvermoon, though one of our guys built an army and won't play it because it's too powerful and no fun for his opponents (or him for that matter). Very cool model range though somewhat limited.
The Ninja are really good unless you match up well against them, in which case they're decent. My Tengu happen to match up well against them, but they can be really frustrating (no fun) to play against if you match up badly. However you get a lot of points with only a few models, so not too much work involved. Limited model range.
Cult are awesome. Can be really good. Lots of variation in play style and figures. Fun, challenging, cool looking. One of my top choices for a second army.
As to the next edition.... next calendar year? Maybe? Wish I could say more but they're still early in the testing stage and I'm definitely NOT privy to inside information.

My rule book showed up. I had enquirer with the eBay seller where it was a week after shipping as he sent me a message saying it was sent. The date on the package shows they sent it the day afte I enquired . But it’s here now.
If you have that link I’d love to have it for my iPad. I downloaded the one off their web page before they went under construction, and printed out a copy and have it all sleeved up, but I like reading the fluffy stuff time to time.
Thanks for the break down of the clans. Not sure which way I’ll go just yet.

Warbases just opened a kickstarter called The 55th Day in Beijing which is all about laser cut MDF buildings and scenery, including hand carts and such. For all that it is China (Boxer Rebellion setting) the look seems good for Japanese Bushido.
Never let it be said that I don't love you guys... this took a literal week to upload. It is a full length battle report and both Tyler and I are fielding very unusual armies with lots of new figures in new combinations. (The battle report isn't actually THAT long... but since I'm having internet problems the upload time was ridiculous).

Hey gang! Newest YouTube battle report is up! This one's a fun, short form report where my Tengu take on Ben Rislove's Kage Kaze Zoku in a 35 rice, 3 models each, VIM slug fest of epic proportions! Want to see the two big birds (Hokibo & Buzenbo) standing side by side, defending the right? This is your video!
Also, the Bushido event at Adepticon has been confirmed and I will be the TO. Sunday from 9 to 3 (sorry, it was the only time available).
More details soon!
