This made me lol, but seriously thou, i have know a 10 year old who plays fantasy and 40k, 1 or 2 of his skaven models are brilliantly painted but his 40k models are really bad, this annoys me because i know he can paint well but he chooses not to. Personally i try to paint every model to thebest of my ability even if it takes me ages, i can be proud.
I would say I agree - however, my 40k is terrible compared to my Lizardmen. People think I don't try with my Wolves, either, but I really do. xwX

Young guys have great enthusiasm and creativity. i was only 11 when i first started 34 now and its a cool thing even if it makes me look like a peado when going into gw lol good job i have 3 boys around that age that i can use as an excuse to enter.seriously though young guys are very respectful i find.they are also great painters .much better than i was at that age. and over enthuisams is no more annoying than persimmism . in fact its less annoying than a know it all or jaded skeptic like myself.

I'm 12 and I can support the "Young guys LOVE SM!" Now, I have decided to play Tau. I am very lucky, because their are 6 gamers that live within 1 mile of me! 3 are brothers! Now, the youngest is 8, and he can get annoying (But he is very funny!). Now the other is 12 and is my best friend, and the eldest is in high school. The old have more wisedom, but the young have more energy.

In my own experiance I find that generally in my area the younger gamers tend to be quite spoiled and headstrong. Whenever I find my self gaming against them they constantly flaunt the rules and act superior-whilst slagging off my army for not being straight out of the box. Ocassionally yes, you do get one or two who are nice kids and who are eager to learn new things about the hobby etc, but they're few and far between. ¬¬ Hey but its the kids who buy up the latest armies in a flash with their mother's bank cards that help to keep the hobby going, so just keeping my distance works.

Thankfully being a historical gamer, we dont play in shops full of sticky fingered hordelings.
The youngest in our club is 36! Though if anyone younger wanted to join, I see no reason why they couldnt (other than having to be over 16 as the club insurance dont cover younger than that and we would need to have one person with a Garda check if minors were involved... Both would incur us costs).
But we are in Ireland so not exactly a hotbed of historical wargaming, though there is 8 of us within a few miles of each other. Seen a few young-uns playing at a local GW stockist but I dont tend to venture too close in case they bite.
Given a choice, I would rather play games with adults... I dont even want to game with my kids.
They may like it and want an army, and Im buggered if Im buying anyone other than me toy soldiers!
I started gaming at 11 with my uncle and his friends. Luckily they took me under their wing and tolerated an enthusiastic youngster. Now 25+ years later Im still wargaming.

TBH, I don't mind them if they're willing to learn, are patient and respectful. What I hate is the ones who think they know everything (no matter how many games they've lost)- it's always the dice, don't bother to paint decently (I'm talking blobs for faces, way too thick metallics, no detail of any description with no basing or simply no unified armour, and the ones who badmouth other's armies, boast about how their army can crush yours, and I find the gigglers annoying. "you said snotlings? ewww!" "you said sexist? pfft...sex..."

I voluntarily ran (and am attempting to do so again, new location) a Young Bloods wargaming group. Because there is more to it than just gaming...
It can be fairly entertaining to watch them learn, but some people do pick up different parts of it a lot quicker than each other. Some do it so they can be "the Best" and win games. Others because they like to do something better than others.
It always amuses me when girls seem to just grasp painting so easily but have had little interest in Gaming lol.

Good for the reason they keep sales up.
Being honest,I find it a bit annoying playing a game and some kids just piled around the table looking at it,not so bad but all the "Is that your tank","What does he do" and "Who's winning" ready kills the mood.
Also the fact, big dragon=OMG SO COOL in their minds

If they have enough patience to RTFM or listen when they're being taught how to play, then i'm fine with it. The ones who just want an excuse to put their big land-raider-tanks and terminators-that-were-named-after-arnie on the table with no grasp of the rules or even army structure/upgrade are the ones that annoy me.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

They are necessary! No two ways about it. It keeps the hobby growing which means it stays a viable market for companies to produce the miniatures we use. Also, its important to game with the young kids learning and wanting to learn so they can be shown the proper etiquette and behavior that is appropriate.
Patience is required! If we dont, then we run the risk of having them continue to play but they never learn respect for their fellow gamers or anything else that is crucial to achieve that fun experience for everyone!
I have met nine and ten year olds with more manners at the table then some adults. Seen grown men hurl their own or other people's models across the room because things have not gone their way.
