The last game group i played 40k with was a mixxed bag from young to old.At the time i must have been 29 or 30 myself.Over all i found the adults a little stuffy(all very nice.but not my speed.)While the kids were all very cool, open minded and all very honest.
For instance I paint pretty good. Not to brag but i was up to par if not better than most of the clubs adult members(not that it matters any way.)When i open my case to share this part of the hobby with the group most of the senior members could care less.Even to just chat with a fellow 40k fan.On the other hand all the young bloods were just like..wow yeah!cool army lets talk!Mind if i pick your brain a bit?I was more than happy to be talking about the hobby.

Yeah, I know how that goes. Pretty much nobody ever comments on any hobby aspects at my FLGS. Other than that, I am fine with younger types playing Warhammer, as long as they are not the obnoxious M: tG typ who race up and down the aisles of the store, talk really loudly, and are generally annoying. Last time I was at my FLGS, it was Friday Night Magic time. Me and a friend where just having a quiet game of Warhammer, and then about 6 12 years charge in. One of which kept mocking and tauting every one else. Stuff like "Hey Tyler, what'cha gonna do if I have (x) card at the bottom of my deck? Huh? What'cha gonna do? Huh?" He also insisted on calling one of the other guys there, who was like 15 years older than him, "Squiggles".
If that kid picks up Warhammer, and is at the next tourney, I am going any length to avoid playing against him. Might even bribe the tourney organizer.

I think that younger kids are loud, impulsive, and have way too much ADD to focus in a game. However, worse then younger kids are the rule nazis who think they are all that!!! The ones who go to tournaments and look down on everybody else. I won't get into that though!!!!!! Young kids should be playing less expensive and complex games that they can handle. IMO. I enjoy playing against strategists and not kids playing with toys.

I like having younger people get into the game as it helps to make sure that it stays around. Many of them are also pretty good players, its just that sometimes they need to calm down. Most of the time if they have had the patience to build and paint the models then they are pretty good at the tables to, its just those few who got their stuff on e-bay...

I'm thirteen, I've won BG at a GT, I spend hours building, converting, and painting my Daemons then go and play against men 3 times my age with half assembled models. People at my store will commonly ask me for rules help, heck, even reminders on what the different deployments mean. I am in no way attempting to blow my own horn, rather, to state that not all 13-and-unders are annoying brats with half painted proxy armies. I've met and played against quite a few people of similar age who are quite good 40k players, as well as sportsman, one of them (a 13 year old) having won Best Sportsman at the Conflict GT.
YMMV.

I'm usually the youngest, at 21, when the airmen come and go, and I don't have any problem, as long as they're respectful and not loud. I can't stand the rule lawyers who feel the need to alway have a ruling looked up, or the neckbeards who wine about painting, or the M:tG players who feel the need to take up table, play their music out loud, and be utter annoyances, as well as the literal unwashed masses.

Tbh, age doesnt matter, as long as they dont take things too far, know whats acceptable behaviour, know the rules, respect the game and dont cheat like toddlers etc, and give the adults a laugh sometimes they're fine! They contirubte to the hobby and make fun in apocalypse games Watching 4 young people make a 19 long rhino train down the board to take 1 objective at the back of enemy territory is fun The nthe adults join in, and its good teambuilding for local clubs etc

Having said that, I paint like a goose with no limbs, and my conversions are generally shoddy.
I don't know what this will add, but I thought I could give my opinion.

Im seventeen and my painting is still mediocre
But I played against a young kid, couldn't be older than 13, two weeks back. He played orks, and I beat him horribly. He was energetic the whole game and pretty annoying, and he really didnt understand the rules, so I had to be very patient with him. But I still had fun, I shook his hand afterwards and could tell him "Good Game" and mean it. Young kids may be anoying, but I will always welcome thier energy, I find it to be very fun sometimes and allows for wargamers to not take themselves way too seriously and be lighthearted about thier hobby.

Bah! All you young 'uns.... I started when I was 11 but I was nowhere near as ridiculous as some of these kids these days are. Though there are some very good ones who respect their elders and keep themselves from having sugar induced fits of rage upon losing... As long as you respect the game and don't go on and on about how you're so amazing and "beastly" in Call of Duty and you don't "counts-as" everything, then we should get along fine.

I am a young 'un (14), and I like to believe that im not to bad. I never chuck a tanty because I didnt win. (mostly because I never do, lol.) But one thing that bugs me are the little kids that come in and act like they own the place. For example the other day I was at my LGS and I had set out my models to paint on the painting table. I left and went to go by myself a drink, and when I came back I found some 10year old in my seat just sitting there. I tried to explain to him how it was my seat showing him my models etc. (please note I would have just moved seats, however there were no spares.) After I finished explaining to him, I asked him if I could sit down again. He replied with "No, its my seat get your own." That REALLY piffed me off. Other than that guy (and his 11 year old brother) most of the younger kids are alright.

I consider myself to be a young person (15) and I play with 20 year-old students who have named monsters, need I say more? We refer have to refer to the rulebook occasionally, this is a big complex game and if you don't, you are likely to be wrong.

Generally speaking kids are loud destructive and obnoxious.
I am 29 years old.
I had a band in Memphis a few years ago called Acid Piss. We used to break things, were extremely loud, and painfully obnoxious (feel free to youtube us, folks).
That being said, there is a time and place for everything. You didn't come to one of our shows if you didn't want to see someone's head go through a plate glass window, or have me vomit on or around you. Conversely, you don't go to the flgs or the local GW and touch the expensive mans and be generally discourteous.
Kids will be kids, however, and it isn't a red shirt's nor a gamer's job to put someone else's kid in check.
I voted Exterminatus for two reasons.
1- Kill the bad parents. Instantly build character in bad kid.
2- I'm a CSM player. We haven't seen the fun side of Exterminatus in ten thousand years.

I'm OK with them. Yeah, some younger folks can be annoying, but remember when you were 12-14? You were annoying as crap too! For those who blame impatience, I advise to develop some. You are going to likely have to learn to deal with young'ins at some point. Not a critisim, but just a suggestion.

It's a game we play with plastic army men... in all honesty, it is a game meant for grown ups who never grew up haha.
Young blood is always good. And for some reason I have taken a strangely heroic stature amongst the youngbloods, as most of them were cheering for me during the 1 year birthday bash for my local GW, and having built the stompa and other silly things. Usually they are middle schoolers and I am happy to help them out. I was their age when I got started in the hobby so I know it's daunting. Sometimes it gets to be a bit much but I know they mean well.

I don't mind about painting ability, because that would be hypocritical! Besides, a bit of youth and enthusiasm is always good to counter balance the age and treachery!

Everyone at my lgs respects me since I usually kick their ass in various ways.
I know as by people in my school, sports centers(soccer, swimming, taekwondo, tennis), and lgs wise I'm sort of a jack of all trades, master of all. I earned that moniker when during a football(soccer) practice I managed to help half the team with their math, science, and soccer techniques . . . Then later on with roughly the same group I taught them all the best way to take down someone twice their size, but anyways enough bragging.
Most people at my lgs respect me since they are often older siblings of my school friends, and more then once I have beaten them in a (friendly) fight. Thanks to my chess-playing as well I manage to beat them in 40k, initially of course this really irked them until they got to know me better.
Still my painting is good, but I still only have half my army painted since I'm so meticulous with it.

My experience with young players, has been interesting. There was a kid at my old GW store. I swear he was the most spoilt piece of S*** in the world, and believed he knew everything about everything. I think I was trying to talk to some other guys around my age about the freedoms that you can have with their models. I was explaining that I want to have all models all converted to look different. This kid turns around and shouts "You can't do that." I have never want to smack a kid in my life before I meet this kid.
Apart from that one kid, I find that it's good to see kids getting out and socializing with others. It gets them out the house and off the computer. Warhammer and other table top games require a sense of imagination, which can't be gained from a simple xbox or t.v screen. However when it comes to gaming I wish their attention span was as big as their energy. Specially when it comes to Apoc games

how can you hate on young gamers? i am 22 years old, and i dont care what age someone is as long as they actually have an interest in the hobby. Sure i would prefer to play someone my own age, but doesn't mean i tell some little kid to go take a hike, after all we are grown men and women, playing with miniatures, based on something that is completely imaginary. If anything we should be encouraging kids to start the hobby, anything really that sparks their imaginations, and gets them away from Justin bieber videos for a little bit. And ya, when some kid throws up his crappy, horridly painted space marine in my face, and asks me if i think it looks good, I lie my ass off and offer him five bucks for it
