Ponyo was pretty darn good. Caught it on HBO with a bunch of friends before the Game of Thrones premier. We postulated that since Liam Neeson voiced the dad that Ponyo was really just an animated sequel to Taken.

It didn't disappoint.

Ponyo is a great film, up there with Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle as one of Ghibli's best imo.

I think nis best is My Neighbor Totoro, simply because it is an interesting movie with... no plot!

And the first time I saw it, I was in Japan, watching it in Japanese. Was having someone explain to me what was going on.

I like that one loads too, but I think its not as seen as epic as the four I mentioned above.

NSFW due to excessive swearing.

Well, klimino, it's about this group of highschoolers who die, and are basically in limbo, and they're fighting this angel that wants to make them pass on to the next life.

We watched Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind a couple of days ago.

Also, my roomie got me on Higurashi No (something something). Man, that stuff is wacked.

Just watched episode 5 of the new Thundercats.

If it is animated outside the U.S in a Far East nation., does it count as an anime?

So are the different seasons just different points of view, or different "this is what could have happened", or what?

In your wardrobe, looking for Narnia.

The latest animes I watched were Outlaw Star and Trigun I believe. I am a big fan of Excel Saga and usually slip in a few episodes of that when I am feeling down.

Yeah that sums up Angel Cop pretty well. Come to think of it, it also was most of the dialogue of the thing other then the mind rape scene and the sequences with the little girl, which were also disturbing in their own way.

IF you get down to it, most of what was removed was a few sub plots, some establishing shots, and most of the violence. (Yes, this series was about four hours of people getting their bodies mashed in very Ninja Scroll ways. Sometimes more then once)

EDIT: Also, i thought School Rumble was alright.

Would someone be so kind to tell me what the difference is between Full Metal Alchemist, and the 2009 Full Metal Brotherhood please?

Have just started watching the latter and at episode3, so far it has been an abridged version of the earlier one.

Also which is the intervening film please?

Chibi- I'm sure someone else can explain in more detail, but from what I understand the original series had some major departures from the manga in the latter part of the series, which a lot of people didn't like. Brotherhood, to my knowledge, is a remake that more closely follows the source material.

I admit I also don't know too much (having never read the manga) but Brotherhood essentially follows the direction the manga took, whereas the first series went off in a totally different direction. The biggest difference I've seen (other than the story) is that Brotherhood "cuts out all the bull- " as my friend puts it. There's really no filler or extraneous episodes that don't contribute to the plot like the first one had. Plus, the characters are a LOT more powerful than in the first series (Al actually gets the same ability Edward does, being able to transmute without a circle - and they touch on what, exactly, the boys saw beyond the gate).

The movie is called Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa, and is a sequel to the original series. It's actually a really touching movie, especially at the end.
