I'd've thought a double sprue of 5 per spure with Sergeant options and 1 Pyrocannon per 5 would've been a shoe-in.

Nah I think they realise they shove them into the starter sets and combat patrol so are readily available enough. Once they get replaced by 11th they might get a kit I guess.

Weapon options would have been way around.
Termagaunts, assault intercessors...
But some kits ends up in etb's. Infernus got draw here.

Not necessarily, the Wildercorps Hunters where also revealed on their own before without any indication they would be in a boxset (many even thought warcry wouldn't get any boxsets this season) but now they are part of the next one with the Ogors. We also already saw another Warband with the Monsta-Killaz which will very likely also be part of a box next.
So the scouts could still be part of the next Kill Team box and they just didn't want to show it yet for whatever reason. Might even be a hint that they are the only SM reveal with a different background on WarCom. Also the fact all the special wargear versions are painted the same as Raven Guard while for the other reveals they have multiple different chapters

Space Marine stuff feels…restrained. Lots of new kits, but no new units.
Given Marines are usually spoiled when it comes to their post-Primaris newness, this definitely feels like GW may be at the stage of just redoing older kits.
And I for one am all for that. Their range at present is huge, which means their can’t be a great deal of design space left?

I like that they are doing Primaris replacements for Firstborn units. That way they will still be alive but in modern form, and at least for a time we will not see the awfulness of some more idiotic Primaris units.

Termies are fine. I presume Assault Terminators are waiting for the Blood Angel book.

I'm curious to see how GW progress marines from here. While I was expecting Primaris to take over from Firstborn, keeping both the new Primaris units and Primaris versions of Firstborn seems excessive. What's the point of Gravis armor if Terminators are still a thing? Why have both Scouts and Phobos armour, or two different types of jump packs?
The new models are nice enough... I'm just not sure why they exist.

Looking at the Terminators, Assault Primaris, Command Squad, Sternguard and Scouts it's a nice to see GW capitulating on trying to make the new Primaris replacements "happen" but it just makes it more of a kick in the teeth for a CSM player that basically CSM will always be a little but noticeably shorter than Space Marines for no good reason. Though I do worry about just how bloated the Primaris Space Marine line will become. Come on GW, be brave, discontinue the Hammerfall Bunker at least!
I was really surprised they brought back Scouts since though the look and concept has always been solid it's been a long time since 1998 and their plastic debut (Everyone correctly considers the pewter ones from 2nd edition to be classics) which brought a kit with those weird, fat, hunched over models and inexplicable exact same, weirdly autocad distorted face across all of them. It wasn't subtle either, it was a face that really stuck out. Weirdly they even stuck with it for all the subsequent Scout kits even ones that released 13 years later like the Scout Land Speeder. It's been a long time since people were really into Scouts in their armies, but I suppose the problem they had of figuring out if Black Templar were Primaris or if they'd stop having their mixed squads etc led them to make upscaled Scouts for them, I suppose they had the main sculpts done why not make another Space Marine kit. Given that and the relative good reception of the Phobos units (The later ones, the Reivers obviously didn't stick the landing) and that fact that GW has already bloated that niche with 3 very different Phobos kits I was surprised, you'd easily get away with not bringing back Scouts given how long it's been since they had models people liked.(2nd edition) I really like them, they'd make for a good kill team box.
I was stuck trying to figure out what was missing from the Primaris assault marines and I realised they didn't have the harness to keep the jet pack attached that helped give the Assault Marines their unique look. I suppose you couldn't really fit one between the shoulder pads and the giant crater of a gorget on Primaris armour. Still, it doesn't help the lack of variety between different MkX units, they seem to have come up with "strap some tiny pouches to their thighs" as some kind of sop to this but on a lot of them it looks over-designed though it works on some. I also found the poses to be pretty poor. Only the body they made the sergeant do I think they really did a good job, the rest look like they're hovering a half metre above the ground being buffered by strong winds, they look like they are drifting. It's weird because they got it right with one of them. From a GW logistics perspective, why is this not a shared kit with the ground assault marines using bits of terrain to pose them in air poses like the 2014 kit rather than yet another separate sprue and kit, who knows. I suppose one is a 10 man squad and one is more typically a 5 man. Seems like buying some assault intercessors and the old jump packs would produce a better result.
We'd already seen an image of the Mk3 but it was all guys in the exaggerated squatting pose like in the Mk6 kit so it was nice to see most of them are in an upright walking pose. I do think the new kit commits the sin of being less distinctive than the old one, the redesign is so extensive it can't really be considered the same design anymore and it makes it more generic looking in my opinion, I'm really glad I picked up the old kit before it went OOP as there is nothing here to really interest me. I do like the new helmets, the old ones had too big a mouth grill it didn't fit the body, on some other marine bodies it often fit but not on it's own. The backpacks on the old kit were works of art and really adored by kitbashers, they went with everything and particularly looked good on DA. I'm so glad at least that GW didn't go with the horrible Fafnir Rann steampunk/Warcraft-esque 4 vent design but it's still just a more generic version of the design that removes all the charm of the original, disappointing. Love the giant old school bolters though, they will be in high demand. Still also a kick in the teeth when despite all the talk of "more dynamic poses" the attaching of marine bodies to legs has led to just lots of guys with fully rigid spines facing exactly the same direction as their pelvis.
The Sternguard kit seems like a missed opportunity to add variety in terms of heads at the very least, the ones they are showing off are hardly exciting. That old Sternguard kit... I feel like Principal Skinner when he received the one blackboard eraser as part of the lottery funding to the school. One Mk7 head? Oh I'm used to my hobby company betraying me, I've been in this since 2nd edition...
I also like how they patted themselves on the back for finally giving us single Marine HQ kits with lots of options rather than releasing a model per weapon choice as if it would have been hard or that they explained why they somehow lost the knowledge to do this like an STC.
For the rest, the lazy Slaasnesh daemon is amazing, the other two are meh. The vampire BloodBowl team finally gives us some old school vampires for conversions and kitbashes. The troll king is amazing and I'm sure will show up in GD winners for many years to come. I should have known Élisse Duchaard was a FW model when I saw how her face didn't look like a standard female template slightly modified in a 3d sculpting tool.
Edit: Can't believe I didn't see until I saw on another forum, the body poses of the new Mk3 are exactly the same as the Mk6 ones, they literally just imported the same rigging settings? The only difference is the proportion of squatting to upright poses but look for yourself, they are the same 3 poses in both kits!

I really like the new Orruks. What's weird is that Morgok’s Krushas from Underworlds had 3 brutes. But with the new models it seems like it has 0 Brute Ragerz, 1 Weirdbrute Wrekkaz and 2 Ardboys.
Btw the Ardboy's boss and one Brute is almost exactly the sculpts from underworlds but they are nice so whatever...
And the Gorgers are a nice Surprise (I was expecting Ogors but regular ones) but I have a lot of questions for warcry though...
The articles says that the box has the 2 warbands and 1 piece of terrain but in the image we see the Mawpit and at least 2 other new platforms.
So I guess based of the roadmap we expect at least 2 more boxes like this one, each with 1 terrain piece. The next one is probably Kruleboys vs some Order warband.
And now to the interesting part... How much will this box cost? I guess less than the previous boxes because we get just one piece of terrain but probably more than the Starter Set because the Starter Set had 2 500 point warbands and not 2 1000 point warbands (although the StarterSet has tokens and dice)...
I hope it's not much more expensive than the Starter Set

Yes, I understand that Gravis and Phobos units have different gear to Terminators and Scouts. My point was that, while this was a useful angle for selling new models, from an army design perspective it doesn't really make sense for Marines to have those overlapping armor types. Either Primaris should have had access to terminator armor instead of Gravis from the start, or terminators should have been replaced by Gravis armor Primaris Marines with the traditional terminator loadout. Having both just bloats the range.

Well, it may have been the original plan. We’ll never know for sure, so are left solely with “Chinny Reckons” when it comes to Firstborn being binned

There will be, but they've clearly decided to stagger things out a bit and likely assault termies are tied to another product such as Kill Team or WHQ which isn't ready yet. GW are getting quite good these days at releasing just enough stuff while still keeping the audience hungry for more. I fully expect to see assault terms just after New Year, a bit like how they released Heavy Intercessors almost three years ago.
In a similar vein the first Kill Team box must not be far off as scouts were covered in this preview. That means the Eldar models can be unveiled on an upcoming Monday article and they're clear to begin the next KT season.

I was surprised to not see any new vehicles this time. Guess now their focus is going to move onto updating the distinct chapters like DA/ BA/ SW, rather than going all-in on generic marines again.

Long before Gravis was a thing, Space Marine were given Centurions which also overlap
Marine bloat is nothing new, and at least Gravis is a far better concept overall

Indeed. It almost seems like the old boxes, but the image of the box is a smaller size (like the Underworlds boxes) maybe just fit the art but it seems they are smaller now, fits with the less terrain thing.
Not sure what was making everyone think we weren’t getting boxes any more but good to see they’re wrong and it carries on, I couldn’t see a reason we wouldn’t be.

I was intrigued by the big army shot of a new Primaris army with all Primaris units except they also had 2 landraiders in there side by side with repulsors. Prior to today's reveals it seems like GW would never have done that. Also interesting to see the landraider near the top of the "space marine" tab on the webstore. well, they've said the new mkIII kits are "fully compatible" with the mkVI weapon upgrade sprues, so my guess they had to copy a lot of the body positioning of the mkVI to make all the guns fit properly.

Dunno why GW thinks leading one leg away from the primary axis of motion makes for a good pose. They've done it a couple times now and it always looks like the character is falling, rather than jumping.
Eh, stick a jump pack on an Assault Intercessor and the problem's fixed, I guess.
The Company Heroes, Sternguard and all the Terminators are great though. Can't wait to get my hands on that Chaplain.
Scouts. Yeah, they're Scouts, alright... Never like them visually, those aren't any better, except on a technical level. The Smurf colour scheme doesn't help either.
