Yes, well.... that will come to an abrupt halt soon enough. But not quite yet. Adepticon planning is beginning and that'll result in a number of new projects undoubtedly... as well as my last 3 outstanding GMS marines and finishing up my LoTD squad.

But... have some crons and Nids to paint first. Gotta take care of my boys you know...

Right ya bunch of whinge bags, I've studiously been attacking howdah like a crazy four year old (or should that be with a 4 yr old?) and it's pretty much done bar crew and crates:

Much happier with the scrap cannon than the light.

Probably need a roof hatch too.

I plan to have barrels etc hanging off the back, also.

Meanwhile, beastie has a big gun:

Need to add details to the sponsons. Head blade looked really silly, in the end. I plan still to have a piñata hanging off the gun.

Assembled, in situ:

And finally:

How do they load/reload the main gun?

Just like a normal gun - it has a huge barrel for loudness reasons, it only actually fires 10mm rounds.

Loving the spider-squig you had the howdah mounted on in the first pics - great skin tone you caught there.

edit: Quality howdah, very orky - good job by you and the boy

What's either side of the squiggoth, in front of his rear legs? Are those cannon barrels, can't get a good angle on them.

Love the howdah graven, properly Orky! Although, just from the first few pics, combined with your hand position, all i want to do it say 'add wings = dakkajet'....

 Gitsplitta wrote:

By firing a Shokk Attack Gun into the back of it, thereby loading the main gun with...well, whatever the SAG decided to pick up....

I think you need to build a loading shoot from the platform down to the breach of the gun.

That's what I think.

@ gits: ok, I see where you coming from, I could maybe use a russ track guard upside down at the front middle (between the 2 shootaz)?
@ Reiko: I live to give. I haven't decided if the wings would be a permanent addition though. I'd really need a couple of big pistons.

I appreciate that!

That would actually look quite good if you add the pistons(not that it doesnt without, just to say....), like an extendible platform....

Yeah... I mean it's buried in there so it doesn't have to be fancy... but the gun just ending there up against the squiggoth's back is very incongruous.

If I can find the extra pistons left over from the defiler I might just do it! On the subject of the BFG, what about ammo panniers either side of the mount?

Not sure what an ammo pannier is... but yes, that helps a lot. You could even have a grot head or two poking out from the gap as if they were making sure everything stayed running smoothly & it would be a nice accent to boot.

Panniers = side baskets, like on a bike, as opposed to hoppers. I plan to have grots a-plenty, fear not! Which way round looks better, pic 1 or 2?

I really love this beast. I give it <3 <3 <3 <3 out of five, but only because it hasn't been painted yet.

I hope for a great paint job, and tons of orky waaaaagh banners!

Thanks mate, my broad aim is for battered yellow with red triangles and green accents (sticking with the Mexican theme). Next job is to starting positioning grots and Ork crew (8 for a gargantua isn't it?)

Thanks for continuing support gang. Not getting much done: kids are a bit out of whack and not settling well at night which is eating my p&m time. Hope to have some more welshmen made ready for big game of saga (well, 6 pts...) on Tuesday. Not painted mind, but if I can get 8 cavalry built I'm there.

So, in the meantime, some Orks in sombreros:

There will be a chain running from the Squiggoth's mouth up to the warboss. Not sure what to do with the boss pole, and I'm debating ponchos. Plasticard and gs both have possibilities, but limitations also.

Hopefully a better view of the terkiller!

So, I hope that'll tide y'all over. Thoughts on ponchos etc would be muchas appreciatedas.

Banditorks looking great, do say there's going to be a trio of mariachi players

For poncho's I'd try doing them in two halves - front/back or possibly left/right depending on the pose? Roll the gs thin onto a sheet of plastic (ziploc bag type stuff) and cut the shapes out through the gs and the plastic. Apply it with the plastic 'backing' still in place and you can manipulate it without pushing it out of shape too much, helps a little with the hang of the cloth too.

Heh, that almost made it sound like it's a daily ocurence. Should point out I've never tried a poncho and I'm basing that whole premise on my experience with one greatcoat experiment

Or maybe heating up very thin templates cut from plasticard? Tricky working with plastic molten enough to drape convincingly though.
