He certainly is a big lad, FrozenDwarf.

Flicking through Defence of Ryza and its pretty good. Loving the Questoris Oblitus allegiance, which allows freeblades in lance banners with a personal trait for the Senechal.

And thats it for the time being. Still chipping away at the solitaire mission but it needs a lot more work. Going to give it another play tonight and see how it goes.

And he is done.
Bad light and all, but he is too big for my workstation where i have good light......

Of all 3 classes, for me he was the easiest to both assemble and paint, but at the same time the moust time consumsing due to the sheer size.
Bad thing is, i kinda want one more for mid field plasma/gatling carnage....... but i have a reaver and 2 hounds that needs to be done before that at some point.

Still banging away at the solo missions...

The damaged warhound mission was alright as a tutorial mission. The difficulty was deciding on whether the pursuing Warhound enters the area on turn 3 or 4, as on turn three the "fugitive" is guaranteed to be wiped out, while if on turn four the player is home free. Next game we shall add another knight card to the deck and see how that goes.

Quite inspired by the Epic report in another thread with an Ork Gargant on its merry way to flatten an imperial base. Of course! The Battle of Hoth! Begun jotting down ideas for a heroic last stand by three Questoris to slow the unstoppable advance of a Reaver. With the same narrow-long battle field, the reaver owns the field but maybe with enough scenery the knights can dash past and out flank it. The reaver is packing a lot of punch, so for the moment its a gatling cannon, power fist and missile launcher. The Missile launcher will be the main threat starting off, the gatling gun as they close the distance, and then finally the power claw. Battlefield assets are sure to be useful once again.

Solo missions aren't going to be as substantial as a proper mission between players, but I've thought about the old Desert Strike game where a single titan explores a large square board with a few areas of interest, and guardian units have to stay within those areas - they can't just follow the player's unit around the board. I like the idea of facilities that if liberated the player can change the titan's loadout, recover its shields, or even repair damage. Unlike Desert Strike the player isn't obliged to complete all the mission goals but to at least accomplish one or two, and gain as many points as possible.

Damn, gotta love game design! Speaking of Desert Strike, are there any Aeronautica aircraft that are comparable to a helicopter?

That's such a cool idea.

Can I ask where you are getting the rules for solo missions?

visualy speaking , aka a rotorblade aircraft, no.

Role speaking, yes.
You have the Valkyrie that is a VTOL that functions as both ground support gunship and a transport plane for airborne combat regiments.
Normal troop carry/light ground support was the valkyrie with a carry capasity of 12 guardsmen, the vendetta is the anti tank/troop transport configuration, while the vulture is a dedicated gunship with 0 transport capability.

Finally there is the sky talon version for light vehicles and cargo transport.

While i dont know of any lore background sources that say these planes did not exist in HH, AI did exist in and before HH, just under a different name and under one single organisation: Armada Imperialis as a part of the Imperial Army.

All of them expect the sky talon exists as 8mm models for the AI game.

Cheers, Pacific.

I'm writing them from scratch. To cut a long story short I enjoy creating games as well as playing them.

My brother and I found Titanicus frustrating at first with the lack of releases and homebrewed a smaller mode where each player takes a group of knights each, either led by a Scion or Titan. Point values were tricky at first but we got there in the end and found we enjoyed it more than the restrictive maniple structure of the main game. We do have the odd game of the real McCoy but at that we would have written it off as a waste of money.

Now with the current situation we've ended up key workers and working radically different shifts, so playing each other has been very difficult and the local clubs haven't been hosting games neither. With the new lockdown in England I fancied trying my hand at solo-Titanicus, see what can be done.

Awesome! Then the Valkyrie will do just nicely.

Bit beyond my means at the moment but with the following shopping list...

AI Valkyries
AT Questoris
AT Manufactorium Imperialis
AT & AI field assets
Blast templates

...a solo-coop desert strike style game is possible. If it were just mechs I'd stick with AT but if including aircraft I'd have to go with the Horizon Wars rule set again, and adapt it.

Cheers!

That sounds really great. I know what you mean about lack of games playing opportunities at the moment, I'm in the same boat.

If you do get a chance to post any rules online (even if its just a basic premise) would love to take a look !

Squeezed in playtests of the Reaver vs 3 Qs last night and this morning, and while its pretty much on par with the "First Strike" missions for learning the game, it has little to do with the player making real decisions. Which is crap!

We'll give the desert strike format a go with a warhound. I think its safe to assume that most players will have magnetized their titans and can swap out their weapons, and that will be an interesting mechanic in itself. Some missions could state what weapons a hound starts off with and which the player can swap at stations.

Gave legio venator's new rules a try vs legio fureans, my buddy got his glaive painted (macro cannon battery) and I rocked my rocket tank (armageddon missile battery). The infantry/armigers are titan hunter infantry.

The latest solo game went well.

Once again a lone warhound needs repairing but this time has retreated into a coastal city covered in a dense mist, under constant fire from a hidden missile stronghold and a macro cannon.

While the hound managed to locate the stronghold and squashed it, the macro cannon scored two critical hits to the legs sending the titan stumbling backward into the mist, crashing to the ground. Victorious but also destroyed on the same turn...strange but true.

Theres room for improvement but not bad all the same.

There's rules from one of the narrative missions in the rulebook with rules for like occupied buildings with heretics that shoot out. The battlefield assets are weirdly resistant unless a titan steps on them.

Some base deco arrived in the mail today.

Unlike you lucky who has access to a 3d printer either personly or thru some commuinty service locations, that stuff, like the whole wargaming hobby alone, barly exist in my country/city, so i have to do things the old way, aka buy from people who make and sell these products.

So i ordered a few 6mm imperial vehicles and a bag of soldiers, resin and white metal. (the white metal is so shiney it is borderline impossible to take pcitures of it in any kind of light)
So here is how they look pre paint. (crispy mold indeed)

Sutch an adorable scale to work on, i realy regret now that i missed the epic era.

I bought 5 vehicles and 20 infantry so should be enugh deco for my 5 titans, plus future 4 more titans that i want.
going to try and see if i can find some static grass/bushes/trees aswell, there is 2 model train shops in my city and i bet either N or Z scale would suit AT.

Z is about 1:220 if memory serves while AT is around 1:270. Most things should be easy to port, especially given how 40k things have a flair for the ginormous

There are some physical battlefield assets like titan hunter infantry you may wish to save some of the models for, the rules can be found in the doom of molech book. Basically you place 2 bases of infantry in the stratagem phase than activate and shoot in the combat phase, really cool and very fluffy

Disagree, the only way to balance them in game is force them to be placed on the ground. They have the same resilience to shooting that a bunker does, without the abiltiy for a titan to step on them, they're a little too good IMO. If you allow placement on buildings, they simply never get targeted, the other reason for this is you scoop them in the end phase of the turn anyway.

Hello, longtime reader, first time poster.

I'm actually dealing with this right now. The old bases for Epic seem to have been 20x20mm or later 40x12mm. I ordered 5 8mm MKIII devastators and 2 rapier multi-lasers off ebay for the titan hunting infantry, and going purely from aesthetic I started with 2 FoW bases and then whittled those down to 20x40mm which seems like a good compromise for the minis I'm using and allowing some BUA base terrain. I might rebase onto something official if infantry are reintroduced I suppose. Also, the vast majority of my terrain are buildings, so....

As a personal note, I got into AT with Space Marine way back when and used to have All the Sons of Horus. I put my GW away as childish things when going off to college and the minis eventually disappeared during a garage sale. Of course I met my now best friend when walking by his dorm room on the 1st day to see the RT crimsons fist cover poster on the wall and asking about it. All I have left of my old AT is a phantom titan being salvaged used as part of a multi-tree base forest terrain section and a reaver head in a scenic base's trash yard.

The markers can normally only be placed in terrain unless you houserule otherwise. Our houserule is to remove the marker if a building they are in gets destroyed. Most often they also aren't really too much of a bother and removing them instead of shooting at actual targets isn't a priority to begin with. A couple of low Str shots with a piddly BS are a nuisance, but unless you're rolling way hot, they really aren't a powerplay choice.

As in they can sit on the top of buildings like infantry could in the classic Space Marine.

Do keep in mind that titan hunters are currently just a token, not an official model. If infantry in general were to be introduced to the game they would likely make them compatible with the scenery, much in the same way as spires and assets.

I'm not talking conception, infantry could totally occupy a building, I'm talking game terms/rules. They're literally the same resilience as a bunker or any other other battlefield assets like the macro cannon battery. We just house ruled you had to place them touching a building. The other issue is if we don't lock it down to just buildings you have them being placed in weird spots like next to a rock or other natural terrain feature that doesn't really scream concealment. But what we've found is our house rule works pretty well, its like they're bursting out of a building to ambush titans.

I think the other thing is with terrain destruction being in the optional rules it's hard to have any standards. But we can probably agree a base of infantry being as resilient as a bunker seems a bit weird. At least like with those battlefield assets if a titan can end its movement on one they stand a good chance of smooshing it, which works well game wise vs shooting it.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Well the battlefield assets like the bunkers fit well on like 32-40mm, I based mine on 32mm bases. I have some assets on 40mm bases or oval bases in the base of some little super heavies I use as macro cannons/apocalypse missile batteries. Most of my titan hunters are on 32mm bases but some recent one are on 40mm bases for space (there's a drop pod in center of the base).
