How did you get your balcony to stay? Mine either
sagged forward or back and eventually fell off both
times. Finally I said screw it and saved the piece as
a roof topper.

Any advice?

Wait till after you've made the building, put it on it's side and attach the balcony is pointing up also make sure the eagle brackets are glued strong.
rubbing the surfaces that are to be melted together with fine sandpaper gives the polycement a head start.
Also a small spot of super glue in the corners helps hold it, while the polycement gets to work and drys...
mostly its a patience thing...

if it's a big balcony, pin it.

Have you tried pinning it? Instead of using paper clips (like with pewter), try using styrene rods.

Didn't think of that (styrene rods, that is). Interesting.

I built the balcony first. Then the front wall. Then when the front wall was dry, I laid it flat, then glued the balcony in place.

Each wall was a sub-assembly as well. Floors went in after the walls were glued together.

I just took my time.

Laying the wall flat while the glue dries is the best advice.

Also, DO NOT use accellerator for your superglue. It doesn't cause the super-glue to DRY. it just hardens in place giving a fast, but far weaker, join. I know you didn't say you WERE using it. I just wanted to add that, just in case.

I'd also sugest using the superglue for plastics (can't recall the exact name off-hand). Rather than gluing the pieces together, you'll be joining the plastic, making a more solid bond.

Poly cement is the best for plastic models. The bond if done properly, is stronger than either side.

If you though a CoD building was a pita to assemble, try the new fantasy stuff. Similar system for assembly, but more intercuts. Shudder.

Worth it in the end, but a pita to put together.

How are the sprues arranged? As walls or complete
sections? (Fantasy buildings I mean)

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Balconies I added after I had finished the main building structure. I've done a normal 2X1 balcony, a large 4X1 balcony, a couple of 1X1 balconies and one that actually goes 90 degrees around a corner. Looks great.

I didn't have any trouble's having them stay on. Usually a big of cutting and hacking was needed, but they are held on by the ends where the walls are, and to the eagle brackets. Never had a problem them.

Malfred:

I haven't seen the Warhammer building sprues, but I can tell you how the CoD ones are done.

Basically everything is done with single panels, so if you want a two-story building that is four wide, you simply get 8 panels to make up one wall. The Sanctum Imperialis has a big door that is the equvalent size to two panels.

The sprues are:

Sanctum Imperalis - 2 Windows, 1 flat wall, 1 double door, two ruined windows (one of each type)

Basillica - 4 Windows (2 different types), 1 flat wall, 1 door, 2 ruined windows (one of each type)

Manafactorum - 1 window, 1 door, 1 AdMech Icon wall, one power generator wall (with a bit you attach to the other side), one 'vent' wall (which the exhaust pipes can stick to), two ruined windows (one of each type).

The fantasy ones are similar to the CoD sets, only with a few less right angles. Wall sections, wall extenders, shingled roof pieces. Shutters (Go over the top of windows) and so forth, plus a crapload of gubbinses.

The fortified manorhouse was on sale (30% off RRP) and my wife liked the look of it, and urged me to get it, assemble and paint it for her.

Marginally harder to put together than a CoD building, but the exposed stonework corners which have to line up is the issue. My SI was easy compared to it.
