the first game pretty much turned me off from playing the rest

was called cheesy by the first opponent for my 32 chaos termi list.
his list was 3 falcon love fest um yeah

then he told me i was cheating for my termis were on the original 25 mm base.
to say the least he was a toolbox

This isn't really a battle report. It would fit better in discussions.

I think I would rather face 3 falcons than 32 termies. Imagine how your opponent felt about you Skipper.

Whats to gripe about, that's like chedder saying is worse than swiss (cheese that is). Tell him to grow up a little as it appears the 3 Falcon cookie cutter net list won once again.

Neither list is very fluffy. They are both a little cheesy.

I'm not sure the chaos list isn't fluffy. 10 Termies are a tough nut to crack, but they don't have ATSKF or fearless, nor do they have assault cannons. My point being there are ways to properly counter that many terminators.

The eldar list is a swordwind list, with aspects and transports. Is it fluffy? I don't know. I do know that there's not a lot most armies can do about three loaded falcons, which is why while I think the terminator list is unbalanced and tough, the tri-falcon list is broken. Chaos also gets points for not being a cookie cutter "I saw this on the interweb" list.

cheesy: maxing out on the best thing in the army list . Things things usually have rules that break other rules and make the game not really fun. that being said nothing is really wrong with cheesy just it isn't a way to make friends

fluffy: if you magiclly transported to a 40k battlefield what really would be there.
again with millions of skirmed going on at any time in this universe any thing could be seen on the field.

Or did he win, and then have the balls to call your army cheesy?

Yeah. A pretty weak statement to make, especially since you lost...lol. Your list isn't cheesy. My only complaint about your list is that Tzeentch would never ally with Khorne unless there was a black crusade, since that is pretty much the only time chaos sets aside their rivalries and band together....in your list though that's a stretch...lol...but cheesy it is not.

skkipper: So, what is your opinion regarding Deep Striking 10 Terminator strong units with a smaller footprint than the current Terminator models that use a significantly larger base?

I know what the rulebook says specifically about this and you could have bought your Termies back when they were supplied with smaller bases. By RAW, I'm not debating it, more like a Sportsmanship issue.

Regarding either army, claiming cheese is typically sour grapes.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Actually if you buy Imperial terminators they come with both 25 and 40 mm bases, so you can use either and it is totally legal. I have a bunch of old DW termies and I will be damned if I am going to re-base all of them to make a constant complainer be quite.

"My only complaint about your list is that Tzeentch would never ally with Khorne..."

Wow that is so passe!

I find deepstriking better on the larger bases. yeah you are a much bigger foot print but with the icons you can negate some of the nasty scatter and you can get your flamers 1.5" closer then if on smaller bases.

Um, maybe I'm not remembering it correctly, but I thought Khorne hated Slaanesh, and Tzeentch hated Nurgle.

So Tzeentch and Khorne is fine, fluffwise.

It doesn't really matter now that Chaos is like a box of crayons that you mix and match. Oh well maybe they will do the Legion codices.

A termi-heavy list isn't cheating at all. It seems like an uphill battle to me, especially against Mech Eldar (3 Falcons or no).

At least your opponent wasn't using Harlies in the Falcons.

Where was the tourney? And would you mind PMing me the toolbox's name so that if I face him in any Seattle-area tourneys I can know to take the gloves off early on?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

like so many have mentioned under the new dex everybody gets along oh so well but for the true fluff fans it was always khorne and nurgle, tzeentch and slaanesh. any other combo was a no no.

Khornes hates all magic, this is why he wouldnt team up with tzeentch.

Perhaps I should start a different thread on this, but the question on termie base size interests me. Seems the larger base makes deepstriking within 1" more likely, but it also makes plasma cannons and other small templates 1+ partials instead of 5 or 6 fulls when hitting a DS formation. Do any of you pick a base size according to these or other gameplay factors?

Khorne see the use of psychic powers as weak and cowardly, thus hates tzeentch. Khorne despises all psykers....why do you think they made the collar of khorne?
