I have a couple games that I will probably trade in for credit at Gamestop and will probably put it down on the collectors edition. I generally don't ever do that, but if I can semi-justify it if i can get the cost down to what the non-special edition costs. I know the logic is not totally there, but hey...its how i think

If you're going to get the game, then it's a neat thing to
have. If you're not going to bother playing, not really worth
getting just for the mini.
Do they ever put limited edition/chasers for sale later on?

I doubt it, kills the incentive to get the promotion.
I wouldn't trade anything Korcheski. If you put $10 a month on it you have it practically paid off by the time it comes around. You also have time to put games up on ebay or something along those lines and get real cash and probably double what any pawn shop, like EB or Gamestop, would give you.

You know, I didn't get the special edition of WoW, but this I might just get. The concept artbook alone is making me consider it, and the art and design of the whole set is really well done... and I can always write it off on my taxes...
The mini is quite nice as well. Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to pre-order this.

One issue I have with MMORPGs is that they tend to be very unwieldy time sinks compared even to gaming. I played CoH for a while and for 'best play experience' you really needed to be able to block out large chunks of time. Wargaming is similar, although it's a bit easier to deal with due to the ability to take breaks and such. Painting is definitely easy, as I can easily sit down for an hour in the evening to paint and watch some TV without it being a big deal: Depending on the MMO, an hour might be enough time to get logged in and just start a worthwhile quest.
Even non- RPG online games have disappointed me with this: I tried to play some TF2 last weekend and had to find something else to do for an hour while it downloaded and installed some new patches.
Still, WAR looks interesting. I probably won't play, but that's because I have even less free evenings now than I did when I got into CoH.

I for one am waiting to have my life ruined by the 40K MMORPG. Can't let the girlfriend know what's coming untill it's too late.
As for this set, the graphic novel sure looks interesting. looks like Malekith and Morathi are in there, and they don't look overly silly. I'll keep an eye out on eBay.

well, you only get to write off the portion (percentage) of the computer used for work.. so if you use it for gaming at all you can't write the whole thing off. so, all those hours playing wow, just reduced the amount you can claim..
and if anyone gets the collectors edition and doesn't want that ugly looking orc miniature, please pm me and we discuss a way to take that ugly thing off your hands. lol

Wow. This is actually really nice. If I was going to play the game, I would actually buy this. As it stands though, I barely have enough to for analog wargaming, much less a MMORPG version. I'm sure it would be fun, but such a time sink. And since I'd probably have to get a new computer...I'm passing for now.

Er, not getting it. I have an annoying habit of substituting words like that. Tends to be random small words like that on/not thing above when I type. It's worse speaking, because I'll swap names of people and places randomly.

Oh, this is bad.
Blizzard understands how to do Collector's editions: you give people stuff to look at (books, DVD, whatever), and maybe you provide a cosmetic bonus (novelty pet). But you do NOT provide an in-game real advantage for pre-ordering or collector's editions. That serves as an immediate disincentive to anyone joining later in the game's life expectancy: regardless of their skill, regardless of their loot, the CE people will always have a slight edge on them.

I will assume this is the same as the guild wars "advanced skills/armor" pre-order bonus in that it gives you an edge when starting out but gear will quickly remove the advantage somewhere in the middle of early-mid game. I don't think these guys are stupid enough to include an item that's advantageous in late game (you want them to keep paying for the months to get that better item anyway ).

Already preordered mine.
Looking at the bonuses, it looks like they won't be anything that gamebreaking really. Just alternate items available to you at the start, or at the end.
And Blizzard actually is the worst about the "in-game advantages" right now, considering the problems with Arena point farming, Title farming, etc going on.
