My only grief is that Nurgle, Khorne, Slaanesh all have special Characters, Tnzeetch who I use in my 1k sons, none ! All have new models, Tnzeetch - None !

I had a chance to look over the codex... those of you who like chaos, daemons etc. and miss your old amazing daemons... they're back!

I have to say the new codex looks very very neat.

The soulgrinder is a base 135pts, has AV13 and can fleet
has 3 different ammunitions it can use 2 of which you have to buy

Tzeentch flamers/horrors(?) can take an upgrade Changling who has Tzeentch Glamour ability
Pretty neat spell. If the unit affected wants to fire at the horrors/flamers (sorry i read it once!) they have to take a leadership test. if they fail they shoot the nearest FRIENDLY unit.

Epidimus - count the number of casualties inflicted by nurgle followers. 5-9 Nurgle weapons wound on a 3+ instead of 4+ and so forth until 20+. There must have been 5 6 upgrades but it was definitely very neat how the army got better as the game went on.

Slaanesh Lash(Pavane) spell is just D6" and can only be used once except for Masque who can use it 3 times. It can even be used against Walkers

Tzeentch Minor Daemon that allows all daemons within 6/12" to reroll failed armor, cover, invulnerable saves. If he fails an armor save he has to take a leadership test, if he fails the test he is removed.

Daemon Princes come with base strength and toughness of 5 but can be upgraded with Marks and equipment. They can have a 3+ armor. They were base 85pts i believe

All the greater daemons are back. I believe the points cost was the same. 250 for the Bloodthirster and 250 for the Lord of Change.

Tzeentch flamers could all take bolt of change as an upgrade. I don't know if this was how it was before but that sounds crazy. 20 S8 AP1 shots at 24"

All daemons were around 17 pts

HQ is a little different, you can have 4 potential HQs if you take them all from one area(you could take up to 2 units from 2 pages as a single HQ choice, and there were ones that used a full HQ choice on another page)

A paid ability for HQ(i think) to have a 2+ invulnerable against psychic spells affecting them or against force weapons

Oh and deployment is interesting
nothing starts on the table.

divide your army into 2 piles declaring ICs joining etc.
turn 1 pick a pile on a 3+ it is that pile and they all deploy via deepstrike, the rest of the units come on as normal turn 2. If not then it's the other pile.

Are bloodletters like old marines (sans armor) with Marine stats and a power weapon?

Everything appeared to have a 5+ for the troops. I really focused on the spells and new Daemon ICs. I can get you an update tonight if you'd like...

Edit : I do remember that the bloodcrusher was an upgrade(a box under a unit) for an elite choice

So on a 4+ to hit roll Skulltaker kills his opponent outright? For 140 points? Oh hell yes!

Isn't rending becoming 6+ on the roll to wound in 5th edition? He's still gonna be great, but he won't be DAS UBERKHILLER after July.

Yeah, only his hits that rend cause ID - so auto-wounding death on a 4+!

*EDIT* A good point, Dead Horse. Will have to see just how the ability is worded.

Skulltaker's gonna be gettin' lots of skulls when he faces legions of grots in combat.

Seems that Skulltaker is going to be that one unit that everybody wants to take.

Until July, he is going to be ungodly destructive, and in 5th, +4 on the wound to rend still makes him nasty against MCs and the like, maybe even against lighter vehicles if his 4+ ability counts for AP.

I believe only one can upgrade. So it's like a Krak missile/melta option for the unit.

Having read through the demon books Im still baffled as to why they did not include Be'lakor in the fantasy game. I mean they had the model, the rules (which could have been updated), but no, instead they make up a bunch of randos. RIP be'lakor.
