Cheers guys! well looks like I am well on the way to finishing the landspeeder, just finished the blue, tomorrow will have that finished and I can start on the Dark eldar.

So I have 11 days to get all this done :(

Finally finished the landspeeder, next thing I have is 40odd DE Wyches and 4 bikes (I think), all the old models.

love the land speeder, only issue is the XIII seen in the 2nd pic is a bit crooked. good freehand, but its bit too easy to see its slant.

the ultramarine Us are very welldone!

Cheers mate, I had noticed that myself actually, i should really use a pen rather than a brush to do my freehand.

Hi all, well i have been busy for the last few days painting dark Eldar, its only done to table top standard (bar the character), all the old models (sadly :( ).

Well I decided to go back and redo my captain so now he is armed with a Relic blade (well Axe) rather than thunderhammer, changed the backpack and head and given him a repaint, he is still WIP atm.





After this I have another 2nd ed landspeeder that I am stripping at the moment and then at some point I have to get my drop pods all done.

He's coming along well. Might want to edit the thread title, though. No Ultramarines here.

Cheers mate, I think he is a improvement on the original on the first page atleast, not so sure about the relic blade/axe however, might have to redo that.

I also have plans to redo my terminator Lib as I feel my painting has improved a lot since I originally did him.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to start on some Ultramarines, I have about another battle force to stick together, sadly its only table top standard :(

Wowwee, the old Dark Eldar models where terrifying, and not in a good way! Still, you made 'em look good! How did you do the glow Lylyths purple sword?

Yeah I have admit I am not a massive fan of the older models but cheers the power sword is pretty easy, Its just Lichepurple blended up with skull white concentrating on corners and the doing a Z shape along the blade with a few random lines.

Think I need to redo the Captain sword with a darker blue.

Well finished the guy now (well i say finished but I have been thinking some battle damage on the stormshield could look col), bit of pan getting a picture from the front because of the stormshield

Captain looks great. Favorite bits are the axe and the cloak.

I don't really like the Captain now. Don't get me wrong, it's an above-standard paint job, but it doesn't work too well. Not enough contrast; brightness. I reckon you should get some bright(er?) gold in there, as well as making any blue a lot lighter, especially on the shield and axe and try to give it a really light 'lightning' look. Kind of like the Sanguinary Guard weapons that 'Eavy Metal painted.

Hope my humble suggestions help in some way.

@ Darkvoidof40k - Well I will admit I am still not happy withe axe, I don't if i entirely agree with on the darkness aspect, I personally prefer a darker look to my models (look at my WoC). Bare in mind the brighter stuff I do is actually for other people, as for the lightning effect on the sang guard its cool however i don't know if its really the effect I am looking for.

Well its nothing personal however I don't think their is a right or a wrong way to paint a model, its simply what you like or what you don't like, at the end of the day it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things. With me I want a more dark gritty look to my Blood Ravens, in comparison to say Roleplayers I think they pull it off.

I am still not happy with the relic blade/axe however so I think I will redo it again, I might well use a brighter blue and see how it turns out, I actually used enchanted blue on it so I might see if I can mix something up.

For my Blood Ravens I also plan on repainting my terminator Lib, it looked good when I did it however again I think my painting has improved significantly since I painted that, still I have a few Commission jobs to do before that and a landspeeder to finish stripping (so happy I managed to get another one on Ebay).

In the near future I will be starting a new 40k army, I think I am leaning towards a space wolf army simply because I want to paint up some wolf guard terminators, I have a Logan Grimnar model laying about as well which i would like to convert in a wolf priest so when i can get a suitable head for and weapon head it I will get started on that

Well the way this model was painted has been bugging me for some time, i decided to give it a total repaint, change the skin tone.

Well here's a bit of a experiment at creating some dragon ogres , I plan on making two units of 6, one with extra hand weapons and maybe another with great weapons, still have to wait on the greenstuff to properly dry before I can continue on it so its still very much WIP.

Well here is a update on my Ultramarine commission job which is done to table top standard, still not finished yet, need to be neatened up, bases finished and chapter/squad markings put on.





After these are done I have two scout squads, 2 rhinos and two vet squads to do and then I can start on the Skaven commission job

Nice. Except for the blue. I don't like it. Dunno if it's just the pictures, or what? But I don't like the blue.

You could take that a few ways, they are painted using Ultramarine blue and to be fair I didn't spend hours trying to get the best picture, I don't see the point when they are only table top standard.

Honestly, I don't know many people that paint Ultramarines to a good standard (as you've shown, frequently, that you can) that use Ultramarines Blue for basecoats. Ultramarines Blue is more often than not a highlight in my experience.

Meh, whatever works for you. You're getting payed, so the less work you have to do, the better I 'spose.

I always use Ultramarines blue as the base color! I just use a blue wash over the top as well

By the way dude, I do sigs/Avatars for people. If you want, I could do you one and/or the other, maybe advertizing your commission painting? Or maybe just a "standard badass" will suit you best .
