Thanks... it's a little painful to look at. My camera's acting up. If I get it figured out I'll take a replacement set of shots which hopefully will do a better job of representing the figure accurately.
I must admit that working your tail off for someone you don't know is well.... kinda fun. Styro and I will probably never meet... but he and his friends will have and enjoy a little piece of my work. I suppose if I was one of the top notch painters here on dakka that would be no big deal... but I'm not, I'm just a gamer like most everyone else. But I've tried to push myself to do something more than normal. Hell, I'd never spend this much time on one of my own figures...
And what I'm getting in return is really cool.... so like... it's got WIN painted all over it!
Have some neat ideas for the next few swaps... if anything they'll be more complicated... God help me.

That marine looks absolutely stellar Git! I remember seein it before, and I wasnt too sure on the legs' positions. But now that its all come together and that wall brings it all together.... It drips with epic win.
And complicated can be fun!
I know that mine have since been getting more and more complex since I've started. Its always awesome to do something different.
But I do know how ya feel. I feel a bit.... odd? trading marines that ive painted. I cant explain it nearly as much as you did Git. Im nervous (perhaps for a lack of a better word) that I work really hard for like you said, someone I may never meet in real life. What gets me going is that Im trying new stuff and new techniques, and they're things Ill bring into my own units when I start painting them for myself. Like the marine I have for WM- I love the pose, so now I know something I can modify and build upon in the future.

Thats true, it is a bit scarry. So far I have been quite happy with the results. I'm also excited about learning some of the techniques that are on others figures that I get (like IAs lightning on Power Weapons, resin casting with Blackhands) and push myself to do things to improve. I didnt really do hard edge highlighting on my DA, but now I love it. Same with freehand and Green Stuffing.
I always want to assume the best of peoples intentions and learn what I can. I havent got any "XXXX's marine sucked, he musta spent 10 min on it!!!"

Wow, thanks Whalemusic! I'm glad you like my power weapons. I actually stole the technique from Sons of Orar http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/301897.page
Thanks again for coming up with the idea for all of this. I've got three more Ice Angels in front of me that have been recently primed for Vent, JonneyDelta, and RamosAsura and I have really been enjoying this whole project. I've made more dakka friends and inadvertently created more characters for my fluff.
Pictures for my newest guys will be posted once I've got some color on them.

@Len: LOL! By Christmas I should have an opening in my "to do" schedule... and by then I should have my molded shoulder pads too! So like... give me a couple of months and remind me...
@Ramos: Thanks my friend. I've NEVER done that major a build before, The legs were totally disassembled, filed, trimmed, then reassembled into the right positions, and getting the arms & shoulder pads to work together also involved a lot of re-working. Worth it though... it is exactly what I had in mind when I started the project... for better or worse.

I've just finished my contribution to the Swap. Its taken 7hrs from making the lil ligend to his final paint job. It's now 5.20am in the UK and I have an hour and a half before work. Curse you WM for your audience participation schemes, lol just kidding great idea and a lot of fun. Ok the pictures have just finished uploading. This is not my usual Chapter but I felt like a change and this project is the perfect place to try something new. This is my first fully painted miniature on dakka so C&C is highly sought after, Thanks guys, enjoy. Cpt Grimmer Slayne- Doom Warriors

Dont be depressed bBL, alot of us have many on our plate atm, so dont want to commit to more before we can give a aproxomite time range.
I'd PM some of those new to joining the project and see if they want to. Or some of the people near the front that havent been heard from for awhile, either way. Remember, THE POWER IS YOURS!

yeh, I have loads of great bits, one pair of legs. Plenty of forward torsos but NO REAR ONES!!!!! Bummer. I'm probably just going to buy a combat squad and use my bits to upgrade them Don't worry, cos i'm short on legs now. Its a viscious never-ending cycle.

Sure, shoot me a PM and we can work it out.
Forgot to comment on Lenny's guy. Looks very nice, I really like the power weapon. I assume your going to paint up the Aquila on the pad as well? What chapter is he, IF? Overall very nice yellow, a color I super suck at.

No the pad needs a little more highlighting from the pics but thats it. The lightening bolt needs some more work too but if you check out lexi you'll see it supposed to be a take on the Doom Warrior badge.

I've also left the scroll blank so who every takes him can add there own chapter symbol to it.
