I would agree that your current bases are a bit lacking, and would benefit from some TLC. I don't think it would take so long, as you don't really need to undo anything, just redo over the top.

Yes, the new texture paints may take quite a bit of work out of it. Definately get rid of the Goblin Green rims. I love the tank additions man! The skull with industrial Rivets is great! The Road Wheel brackets are awesome, and your tow cable is a bit short, but looks great!

Yeah the tow cable is more cosmetic than utilitarian.

I actually rebased an entire platoon yesterday..I'll do some pics later hopefully..

Replaced the giant super heavy smoke launchers with 2 sets of normal ones, also a handle on the small panel behind the front set of launchers.



Tool stowage on flank, improved the axe after this pic, trimmed it slightly



Various kit bags hanging off turret on same side..



Turret gunner is built..Space Marine turret ring with old style Chimera doors and Heavy Stubber..



Cut the details off the floor below..this has now been GS'd flatter..



Which can be seen a bit here. Also stowage on the roof, extra ammo for the HS, these where made of of HB ammo boxes off the heavy weapon sprues. The fuel cans I've had lying around for years probably from a tank kit..



Colonel, pre cap..with sandbags and binocs



HK missile added to LC sponson..



Little targety gubbins off the Armoured Sentinal roof...



Blast damage with hasty battlefield repair job..

That's nearly all the detalling done, just some tweaks here and there..

That turret ring works so much better for IGuard than Space Marines. That gunner actually looks like he can fit through that hatch, lol. I eliminated those from my Space Marine army simply because I couldn't reconcile the fact that there's no way for the Marine to actually pass through the hatch.

This is one of the better IG projects I've seen in a while. Maybe because I'm partial to the color schemes you are using, but there's no mistake that your skill stands out as well. Very well done.

2. The order has been delayed massively and I've been in touch with the very nice man off of the webstore and we're trying to sort it, hence stonking delays :(

I never really noticed that size problem before..and I do have one in my marine army...that'll bother me now, at least no ones actively using it!

Early 90's bases should be used with early 90's miniatures.

Coming along very nice, want to see this bad boy painted!

I'm fairly sad to see the old basing going (and not envying you redoing the army... armies? you redoing the marines as well?!?) but... With the new look, It will look a lot less visually arresting on the usual dark and grimy 40k tables, when the goblin green could divert the eye from the model it's self.


That Shadowsword is looking lovely. I'm looking forward to some massive freehand artwork on that!

Well I've very little time to waste on toys but I'm about half way through rebasing the Guard...not too bad really..I'll do some pics when I get the chance..Yes I'll do the Marines too, they need to match for big games and of course the new allies rule.....

I don't know what to paint on the Shadowsword yet..I'll get it basecoated and I'm sure something will occur, probably nothing too huge just some honour/kill markings...

I've been away so not had time to answer your comments, I've been trying to catch up with all my internets..I'll try to get on with stuff and do some more pics over the next while but I'm relitively busy ATM so might not get too much toytime..

Got my 6th ed WD today, cautiously optimistic about the rules...will see how they pan out, might need to dust off my RT Astropath to be my mage..

Here's a few more shots..



First two layers of GS'ing done on the Colonel...still need a cap badge (unsure what to do) and I was toying with the idea of goggles around his neck al a Rommel kind of look..

The'Re-basing-ning' is progressing,



Here's the 'Assault' Platoon all rebased, I've also done one of the AC Platoons but have yet to get any photos..



I think it is ultimately better..

I think you should stick with the winged skull badge, keep it relatively consistant, but man, looks awesome! The goggles are a go methinks too!

I am thinking skull with wings or laurel wreath ATM for cap..

Would like to try goggles but worried they might go wrong..

Will see how it goes, hope to get a 6th ed game on sunday! (probably with the marines though) might do a little rep if we get the chance..

I was thinking maybe these type of goggles..
