moonshine wrote:Holy crap that defilers is a good idea. Will you be doing a similar thing with the Hellpit Abomination in you rnurgle army ?

Thanks moonshine, the Hellpit Abomination is a good idea for Nurgle thanks .

I had an idea last night of using the Arachnarok Spider as a Khorne one but I really cant stand spiders so it may not happen.

Now all I need is an idea for Slannesh one and I'll have a full set.

I really like necrodefiler! It looks very fluid with the conversions, like they belong there and not over the top with bits tossed on all willy nilly like!

If you are looking for a model to make into a khorne Defiler then with some heavy conversion you could use the Lizardmen Stegadon.

And for Slaanesh how about the Tyranid Trygon/Mawlock ? That could work.

I had thought of something similar for Khorne but instead of using the GW Stegadon using the Banebeast Ulmons, Tarask of Var which is bigger and better, how to add weapons to it is another matter though.

Heres a link to it http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.php?act=pro&pre=mae_blg_bnb_mon_013_000

I also found a pic of it unmade in the rumours section.

I'll have a think about the nid stuff.

Cheers

Sadly he's out of my price range, If I had that much cash I would go for a Brass Scorpion and modify it.

Him not sure about the necrodefiler, dont get me wrong even in PIP it looks like it's going to be great i'm just not a fan of the conversion.

I dont think the weapons just stuck on the 'wing-blades' is imaginative enough. However i am slightly biased in that i hate the 'wing-blades'; personally i think they ruin what could have been an amazing kit from gw. I do like the belly cannon though, didnt notice it at first just assumed it was part of the original kit

What about seeing if you could pic up a confrontation Tarascus?

I have one, actually, though it's got some paint on it. At a pinch I could part with it.

I too have the same thought about the guns on the arms but I can't really criticize as where else is there to put them? Perhaps integrate them with the blades more smoothly? but this takes away from the chaos look a bit. dont know if there is a good solution here.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Yeah there wasn't many options for where to place the twin linked heavy flamers.

I feel the lascannons look ok though.

Not sure about the Tarascus inmygravenimage, I feel it has less options for mounting weapons than the Banebeast.

For the Banebeast you could mount an auto canon in each horn or have them as bio weapons coming out of its flesh each side of its mouth.

No idea where to put the cannon though. You could raise the top armour plate and have it between that and it's head not sure though.

Ah I also have a question for anyone who has bought Dark Eldar Wyches, did yours come with slots bases? Mine haven't and I only just realised after using some of the bases and parts.

I emailed GW and they said take them back to the store and they will change them but I no longer have the box and have already based the bases.

Great paintjob on that Necrosphinx!! I like it because it fits the whole "Egyptian" theme, but yea... most of all, I really like the paintjob!

I might have missed it, but what are you using it as in your army? (Post-Heresy/Chaos Sons, right?)

Hi Remi

Glad you like it

Yeah my army is Post-Heresy Thousand Sons, I'm using the Necrosphinx as a Defiler.

If you based the bases with PVA, then a soak in water will take it off.
Superglue is harder.

I super glued plasticard and added modelling effects to them, some even have other models on them lol

Ah well I bought some more from ebay as it worked out cheaper than driving into town and paying to park.

Thanks Lorna

Hi All

It’s been a busy week this week with a few random minis for different units. I usually take pics before I varnish my guys so these will look slightly different and the varnish went a bit haywire and has given them a very glossy coat which I'm not happy about as its matt gloss and has been fine for the rest of the army so far. I was lucky as I varnished the Necrosphinx at the same time and it pulled through ok.

From left to right we have an alternative captain for my Havoc squad with no additional weapons, A random guy for one of my Thousand Sons squad so I don’t have to use my test mini and the last two are the final members of my Chosen unit, the gloss has killed all the weathering effects on the cloaks

This week I also knocked out a unit of Pink horrors as below, I really like these they have different washes on them to give them a slightly different look.

There was also going to be a cool objective marker but it’s not ready, I over did it on the special effects and it’s not dried yet, it’s only been drying for two and a half days now!

I hope to bring it too you sometime next week.

On an alternative note for those of you familiar with the FW Contemptor dreadnought and if not the pic is below, does anyone have any ideas on how to Khorne this mean machine up. I'm looking at purchasing one with two powerfists and I'm trying to think where to add skulls etc.

More images can be found here http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space-Marine-Dreadnoughts/CONTEMPTOR_PATTERN_DREADNOUGHT_BODY.html

Thanks for dropping in to my world of Chaos.

Thanks for the replies, below is the objective marker I mentioned yesterday.

Just one more to go now. I'm having problems trying to glue slate together for that one if you have any suggestions please let me know, I've tried super glue but its not working this time.

Still need to go round the rim of the base in black as normal lol

I always find PVA works fine on slate you just have to give it a long drying time before you move it, like 24hrs

Nice objective marker

You want to khorne this dread up, wow!!!!!!!!!
If you don't mind spending the money, I would also get the new MKIV Iron Clad Chainfist!! and add that to the underside of the Close comat arm, thats if it comes in parts and is not just one big resin piece.

For ultra khorne blood and guts I would even get a chainsaw on each arm.

For skulls, you could try what I did on my khorne dread with the spikes, or get a load of skulls and drill a chain through them and have that either as a neckless or wraped around the leg or arms.

I want to buy one now

I really like the idea of using dryads for the pink horrors- I started in a time when they were squat thingys with big hands. I like that yours look like pink/blue flame elementals (about to put "flaming" but realized that's probably not the best word choice... )

Also, nice marker- Where's it from?

I'm not sure if I will be able to afford the chainfist arms as well as I'll be getting some other Khorne stuff at the same time.

I am looking at trying to find a good source to get plastic skulls from, I was thinking about putting them on the shoulders and along the front above the head as part of the armour so they kind of come out if you see what I mean.

I did think I would catch your attention with that Dread lol

Cheers Remi I remember when the horrors were squat with big hands, I don't like the new models very much

I think my keyboard is giving up, it doesn't register certain letters you really have to hit the key a few times to get it to work lol, k and 1 are the worst at the moment so please ignore me if I miss any out.

Well after my next objective marker I'm all ready for my first game, I have my tickets for the tournament now. So its just a small case of working out how to play.

I'm currently painting one of my obliterators which should be finished tomorrow after that I don't have much left on my painting table.

I think I have two Daemon princes one Nurgle and one Khorne but I don't want to start them until I get some guys to go with them.

Some Daemonettes to make although I have miss-used some parts so I can no longer make a unit of six that I intended.

Another obliterator which needs priming

My failed attempt at the 40k pimp my sorcerer competition model, I cant even look at it any more its so bad. This is where my poor Wyche and Daemonette parts went.

Oh I could finish my Empire General on griffon, needs a load of converting work.

I'm probably going to move on to my next Chaos god now which will be Khorne. I still have a few things left to do for the Thousand Sons like some terminators, a Lord of Change and a second Vindicator but they are not urgently needed.

The next tournament after my one next month is a 2 player event in November so I'm going to see if I can purchase/paint up the below for my force.

Chaos Lord with Terminator armour and Lightning Claws

Daemon Prince of Khorne

Chaos Dreadnought with two combat arms

2 units of 10 Khorne Berserkers

I think that's it, I will try and make sure I have two obliterators in case the HQ is limited to one per player.

I did go over the top with all the chain fists business Skulls coming out of the armour will be cool! Is it going to be a dread or a daemon type thing? It's my birthday next week, and I have asked for a dreadknight, which will become some sort of chaos dread or DP I didn't decide yet. After seeing the pic of the dread you are getting, I nearly changed mind

It's going to be a close combat dread. I might see if you can fit in a Khorne Berserker head, that might look good.

Yeah Dreadknights are nice I want to build something like the GW Daemon Prince/Knight using bits from both kits for an Iron Warrior DP. I plan on using different wings though.
