Plummeting Black Templar Thunderhawk Pilot

Worcester, UK

Yes, in theory a single Space Marine could mop up a huge portion of a hive single handedly in full battle gear. But this mission require more guile and tact than your average Spaze Merrrain can handle. Hence why EF has very kindly allowed TWO space Marines to join the fray however to keep it in balance both Marines have forgone their powerful armour and special weapons. If anything the estranged personailities of an astartes will only add to the disadvantage.

((OOC Bloody hell, I'm sorry the celebrations cuaght up with me. And yes, there's is no possibility of a Chaplain (or any other Astartes, two is more than enough of a rarity) joing the band. Snarky is it alright if I get this moving along now?))

Character: Avare
Location: Chapel
Situation: Conducting Sermon

Avare nodded at Trooper Ghast, stiffling her surprise. Another thing Remus hadn't mentioned in the dossiers, Avare had thought Ghast had been inducted before the Imperial Guard Tribunal had reached a verdict. She'd been unaware that he had been found guilty and sentenced to the Penal Legion. She couldn't see any sort of imprinted marks or serial codes imprinted on Ghast's forehead, so either he hadn't actually been processed and served as a legionnare, or he had but the brands were covered up by his armour. It would explain his unruliness beforehand with Trooper Furn, though Avare felt inclined to attribute that to his Ouilisian background.

Turning, Avare noticed that the time to start the sermon was now. It wasn't as great a group as she had expected, the absence of her second-in-command Slavro worried her. She was, however, veyr surprised to see Engineseer Holt at the back of the chapel. Sevants of the Machine God rarely demonstrated obeisances to the Emperor, they had their own cult, and Avare did not begrude the Adepts of the Mechanicus their practices. Nonetheless, the Engineseer's presence was welcome.

"Trooper Wilson, today's work call for diligence pass me the Scroll on the upper left corner, yes there. The Admonitions of Sebastian will mark us well in this den of lawlessness."
Taking the tome from Wilson, Avare removed the red cloth coverin, opening the book and turning to the 4th Passage, the one on the waiting punishments of criminals. A fiery note entered Avare's voice as she read from the heart. "Beware those who stray from the firm hand of Imperial Law, in favour of their own selfishness. The retribution that awaits the vain, the lustful, the arrogant, is that same terrible justice that is meted out to any enemy of the Imperium. To walk on any other path but the one that the Emperor has chosen for you is to invite damnation..."

2 Hours Later
Location: Boarding Pad
Situation: Embarking Team

The Valkryies Turbines started to wind up as the last of Team Fallen, boarded the Valkryie. Normally the Valkryie would have little problem in transporting this many people, but the equipment that Mikal and Wilson had brought, not to mention the two Asatres left the hull a little cramped. Before Slavro boarded, Avare pulled him aside, having to nearly shout of the noise.
"The Valkryie will take you to the drop off point, before coming back and picking us up. It's about 3 clicks from Crimson Jackal territory. It'll be hard with the Astartes, but try to avoid being seen if you can. The Jackals doubtless have runners ready to report anything unusual. Once you get in sight of their hideout, set up the observation post and keep your heads down. Don't do anything brave or stupidunless I tell you to."

Slavro nodded, asking a question of his own. "And what about you?"

"The Yellow Dog's hideout isn't easily accessible. Team Regent will have to land slightly higher in the upper levels, before making our way directly down. That's why I want to bring the Arbitor with me, there might still be a few Arbites patrols, though in a city as corrupt as Augstine I doubt it. Emperor's luck to you, Sergeant."

Slavro snapped a sharp salute. "And to you, Ma'am."

NOTE
Any following posts are considered to have occured after the team has landed. Team Fallen and Team Regent are now seperated.

Team Fallen Location: Sub-levels of Hive Augustine
Situation: Moving from LZ to find point for observation outpost.

Character: Avare
Location: Surface Levels
Situation: Organising Team Regent

Avare struggled to control the slight twitch in her hand, it was always more evident when she was stressed or expecting trouble. Locating the Assassin, his or her expresionless mask watching her blankly, Avare fought a spark of anger. These assassins missed nothing, so he'd probably noticed the twitch in her hand, but she'd be damned before he took a physical flaw as a sign of her having any weakness.
"Zeta" Avare snapped "You have your orders. Move ahead, avoid detection. Infiltrate the Yellow Dogs and contact the informant. Make sure he doesn't die before we even get there.
The Assassin nodded before lithely darting into a side alley, not lazily enough to be considered impudent, but certainly too slow to be a snappy acceptance. Avare chided herself, Imperial Assassins were above that sort of thing. Sighing, she turned to the other team members.

Character: Zeta
Location: Hive City Streets
Situation: Proceeding with Avare's task

The assassin had their task and proceeded swiftly towards the target. Zeta was sticking mostly to the alleyways and avoiding the main streets, the most likely places the gang would inhabit. As luck would have it the assassin came across two lone members of the gang. The gang members talked for a while before one left, Zeta took the chance to gather information about these two potential targets then waited for one to be alone. A couple of minutes passed after the first gang member left, Zeta took the chance. The gang member didn't appear to be much, most likely just a fresh grunt, though a foot in the door is a foot in the door. The fight, if it could be called that, was very quick and one sided. The grunt was quickly dispatched by a punch to the temple, a ring the assassin was wearing injecting a neuro-toxin directly into their blood stream. Taking a moment to study the subject, Zeta injected themself with polymorphine and stole the grunt's form. Searching through the belongings Zeta was able to determine the identity of the grunt, Donato, though likely the other members would be less kind and use a more suitable name for someone so low in the ranks.

Zeta emptied a small vial of acid onto the corpse before leaving into the street, now having to travel less swiftly to match the pace of the disguise.

WIlsons boots hit the dust first, his flamer lit and ready to hose down any ganger who dared contest the landing.

Leaving the servitor with the mines aboard for a second he sprinted towards a nearby low wall and threw himself behind it, Landers were deathtraps at most times, but just after they landed was worse they attracted fire worse then Commissars. He Heard Frun mutter something about spiders, but he ignored her. he had his task now.

From his refuge he scanned the surrounding area, weapon still poised, before he activated his vox.

"Area clear. no hostiles in sight."

then he reached for his datapad and submitted an order to the servitor, the mindless drone immediately walked off the back of the gunship and joined him behind the wall. Wilson winced at how loud it's movement was.

"This Is Demolitions. Ready to move on your go. Out."

Character: Sgt Slavro
Location: Underhive, Dark, damp and dirty. The sound of constant labour covers even the noise of the landing craft
situation: Making way to Observation post

Slavro had to shout into his commbead to hear even himself.
'Our mission is to secure an observational post overlooking the enemy position. DO NOT give our
position away. There is too much at stake in this.' Slavro looked around the cramped cabin.
Only Agypus and Ronan seemed to be unfazed by the uncomfortable conditions.

The lights in the cabin started to flash red. The valkerie was hovering in landing position.
'Wilson!, secure the LZ!' shoated Slavro. Wilson lept off the Valkerie and swept the area with his flamer.
He was smart enough not to fire it, the flame would light up the darkness like..well like a flame.
Brother Ronan was next off, followed closely by Brother Agypus. Their centuries of experince helping them
find the most tactical position to cover the rest.

Gaz, Furn, Kelly, Claudius and Flicker followed up behind. Mikal left the craft last, followed by a team of servitors
each carrying huge crates holding the snare mines.

'Master Ronan take point with Wilson. Flicker, scout ahead and see what you can find. Gaz, Furn and Kelly will cover
Mikal and the servitors. Master Agypus and Claudius take the rear' Slavro put the marines in the most dangerous positions in
the formation. They can take care of themselves better than we can he concluded. 'Move!' He shoated as the shadow of the valkerie
left.

"Orders are to keep together and head into the sub-levels. Proctor Jager, you're familiar with the Arbites vox-links? I'm aware that they're fairly standard on the lower units throughout the organisation. If it seems like there's any particular increase in activity here I want to hear about it." Avare paused, unsure whether to voice her suspicions. Look, Jager, I believe the Arbites of Augustine are essentially in the pocket of the local nobility. If we're going after a noble, things could get ugly if they believe money speaks louder than Inquisitorial authority..."

Gaz wasn't the sanest of people, he would talk to himself and he was also schizophrenic and heard voices, this was another reason for his constant rebreather wearing, so people couldn't see him talking to himself.

Character: Brother Aygapus (Team Fallen)
Location: Leaving the LZ.
Situation: Covering the area.
Aygapus advanced cautiously alongside Claudius, combat knife slightly unsheathed and pistol in hand scanning the darkness for targets. In hindsight, he wished he’d brought something a bit heavier (a bolter, for instance), but reasoned that Avare may have had a little spat about that ‘blowing our cover’. It seemed like a feeble excuse to the Marine-as an ex assault terminator he wasn’t used to stealth, after all-but she was in charge here and so he complied.
Claudius hadn’t tried to make conversation so far, equally focused on checking the surrounding area at the back of the convoy for targets. That was good; Aygapus had little tolerance for idle chatter at the best of times. In hostile territory such as this, it could prove fatal. Aygapus knew that Slavro had put him in one of the group’s most dangerous positions, but with his ‘special talents’ that was probably wise. However, he did feel a slight bit of irritation at not being at the front-he dismissed it quickly. He was a Minotaur, they were famous (or, maybe that should be infamous) for their love of close combat. It seemed that even with all he had lost some things never changed. Aygapus grinned at that-let the young pup Ronan earn some glory.
Ronan was at the front with Wilson, who as it turned out was a Demolitions expert. In all honesty, Aygapus was glad Wilson had been assigned to their team-he seemed like the most genuinely trustworthy member of the task-force. Truth be told, although he had feigned disinterest, Aygapus was still somewhat troubled by the true motives of the Elite Guard here-what chapter sends a perfectly able-bodied brother into the service of the Inquisition-the Ordo Hereticus no less-with no explanation whatsoever. Aygapus had heard talks of a dark stain in the Elite Guard’s history, but it concerned him little-whatever they had done must be tantamount to his own sins, and his loyalty remained intact. But he resolved to watch Ronan closely. He was not about to let history repeat itself this time.

Status: Making way towards observation post.

Mikal descended the ramp, his axe in one hand and an auspex in the other. The device scanned other life forms in the area, its purpose was to alert the team if life forms other than those in the team were approaching. As he walked, Mikal's eyes remained glued to the screen unaware of the cargo servitor tailing behind him with the team's gear in two. The auspex was getting heavy interference, Mikal concluded, from the Valkyrie's prop wash. The team filed out and Slavro gave the pilot the signal and it lifted off, leaving them in the relative silence of the underhive. Mikal did a quick scan of the air around him.

"For those of you whom it may concern, the air here is stable, yet I am detecting minute traces of toxins in it, those who do not want lung damage may wish to equip respiratory protection until the mission is complete." Mikal said softly into his mic as the team began to move.

They began marching, the auspex was much more clear now, however, there appeared to be areas they walked past where it kicked up. Mikal did his best to placate the machine spirit within the auspex but to little avail.

"Sergeant." Mikal voxed Slavro "The auspex is for the most part functional, however it seems to be acting up in the face of the underhive's horrid conditions, therefore be advised that all auspex readings may not be correct, at least until I can fix it."

"Sister Lucia, walk with me. Tell me more about this sedative?" Avare was interested as Aajz explained, but distracted.

The Valkryie landing had attracted a bit of attention. The streets were desserted, stalls left unattended as people hastened away at the sight of Soric's carapace armour and weapon bearing down on them. Avare had been counting on that. Landing down in a more populous area would have attracted far too much attention, and besides, here a weapon was the best cure against curiosity. A few sunken eyes peered out of the windows as Team Regent hastened through the hab-blocks.
They didn't have far to go to get to one of the access chutes, a staircase leading down into the sub-levels. Avare glanced at here Data-pad, according to this, they were almost directly above the Yellow Dog's hideout, the scive-club Serenity's. Avare hoped that the assassin was in position.

Avare wrinkled her nose, something down there smelled fiercely."Ghast, stay on point. Jager, follow up on the rear.

Attempting to keep up with Avare's swift pace, Aajz began explaining the effects of the drug.

"It is a chemical compound that acts as a nerve agent, a neurotoxin if you will. I won't go into the details of it's mechanism, all you need to know is that one PPM is all that is needed to kill a man. I have reduced it's effectiveness to simply knock a humanoid down, but it will only last for several hours at best without killing our target. It may be wise for us to use respirators, we do not want to be affected by our own agent."

Aajz paused, she checked the canister again. No leakages, everything was fine.

"I have enough to sedate the district, but only enough for one dosage. After that, I will need to return to the safehouse to make more."

Character: Khan Blake
Location: Hive City, lower levels
Situation: Observing Yellow Dogs gangers

"Ricky," The first man greeted the second heartily with a smile, the two clasping each others' hands together. "Donato!" The second replied.

"How'd the heist go?" The first one, Donato, asked.
"Great, we knicked at least seven hundred credits from that bar," Ricky replied.
"Sweet, you guys shared it with the others yet?"
"Nah, I'm thinking we cut it between ourselves first."
Donato grinned, "As usual then."
"You bet. There's this great place that's just opened up down the road, they've got some ladies there with.. very nice personalities.. hehe," Ricky joked and the two men laughed, before walking over to a group of other Yellow Dogs.

Khan watched the two gangers from his vantage point in the abandoned apartment block, spying them out through his Lasrifle's scope, observing their every move.

So there's a group of dissidents within the Yellow Dogs eh? Perhaps they can be used for information.. then dealt with, he thought with a look of interest on his face. He continued to focus his attention on the group of gangers and observed them for awhile more - Three just stood in discussion for awhile, whist the others sat or stood around, idly checking their cheap weapons or smoking illegal substances. Ten minutes later, most of the gangers left, presumably bored - but two remained, talking for awhile longer, before one left. Then the remaining ganger was pounced upon by an inhumanly lithe figure and killed instantly. Khan's interest peaked instantly. He watched with extreme interest as the new figure suddenly adopted the form of the ganger he had just killed, before searching the corpse for anything of interest. After the - quite literally - doppelganger was apparently satisfied with what it'd found, it poured something onto the corpse that quickly desolved it - the stranger turning and walking away, seemingly uncomfortable at having to move slowly.

Khan had a good idea of what had just happened - and knew the implications of the presence such a terrible avatar of Imperial might being required here. Whoever Remus was after was important and dangerous. Very dangerous. He also knew that it meant his days of living in this forsaken craphole were coming to an end, even if it hadn't been more than half-a-dozen weeks.

Throne it was dark down here, as Team Regent continued to prowl down the staircase, Soric's weapon sweeping each corner before pacing down the next flight over stairs, Rally's pistols keeping a keen sight for anyone that might be following them. They must have been at least 100 feet underground now, and the light was dimming. Not enough to be considered truly dark, but still glum. And it stank. Avare growled.
"Fething Hives and their gakky little-"

"I'm sorry did you say someting, Interrogator?" Sister Lucia puzzled, not quite sure if Avare had been talking to her.

Avare shook her head. "Nothing, Sister Lucia. This sedative is intruiging. If we have, perchance, underestimated the the strength of these gangs it will prove instrumental. And you're right, our aim is to secure the manservant. He doesn't need to be concious now for us to get our information off him later." Avare turned to Aajz with a wicked grin. "Imagine that, held hostage by gangs one day only to wake up in an Inquisition Confession Chamber the next."

Althought she did find the grim humour of the joke entertaining, Avare hadn't been entirely truthful with the Sister, or even the rest of her Furies. At this level, it was true the most they had to worry about wasprobably a few gangs. But these old parts of the Hive went down deep. Lower down, deeper, in the blackness, hinted in the few sholarly accounts on Hive Augestine, there were rumours of things that made Avare's skin crawl...

Lord Harrab wrote:(OCC Not entirely sure what I can do to help while we're quiet, Wilson has a Knife, but he's also weighed down by his flamer and meltabombs, and his las-pistol would make noise, (as would the Flamer, plus light and screams and such.) Someone else might want to take his place on point.)

((OOC: Good call man, but it wont be quiet for very long, just till we get in. @ EF: are we in the levels above, or below you?))

Flicker leaned over the railings on the roof, he had clear sight of the ganger. He raised his silenced las rifle, and focused his eyes, the gun wouldnt make a noise, but the body would. He was standing on a pile of rubble, his body could easily cause a rockslide and bring alot of unwarranted attention. 'I have a clear shot, but it would be far safer to slit the scrots throat and let him bleed out' voxed Flick.

Slavro nodded, 'Master Ronan, Master Agypus, if you would'

Plummeting Black Templar Thunderhawk Pilot

Worcester, UK

Character: Brother Ronan
Location: Team Fallen. Corner of 8th and 112th
Situation: Surveying area

Ronan allowed himself to grin as he heard the words over the vox, at the blink of an eye he squatted down slightly and then launched himself towards the ganger at frightening speed while he was facing away from their position. For a man of his size it was amazing at the lack of noise Ronan made as moved at great speed towards the target.

The ganger was seemingly unaware of the possible danger as he looked away into the distance. Suddenly something distracted him, a low shuffling sound coming from behind him and as he slowly turned his head towards the strange noise he saw the enormous bulk of an Astartes descending rapidly towards him. He opened his mouth to shout a warning to alert the others but it was too late, by the time he had even opened his mouth to shout Ronan already had his left hand around his throat and lifted him off the ground.

Ronan watched expressionless as the ganger struggled to breathe, his feet dangling a foot off the floor as he reached up in vain to stop the hand that was strangling him in a vice grip. As Ronan watched he reached out with his right arm, gripping the weapon that the ganger had managed to keep hold of and pulled it from him before he was able to get off a shot that would attract the attention of other gangers nearby. Confident that he was not seen nor was the ganger able to shout he closed his grip tighter and crushed the gangers throat with ease as he thumb compressed tightly, killing him cleanly and quickly.

With the ganger still in his hand and his weapon in the other Ronan walked back to the Team dragging the limp body with him, he concluded to himself that hiding the body would prevent other gangers from seeing it and therefore stop them from needlessly investigating the Teams position. As he reached the team he threw the lifeless body into a secluded corner as though it was as light as a feather and pressed the button on his intergrated comms ear unit "threat neutralised" he spoke calmly as he kept the button depressed.

"however" he continued, "his comrads will undoubtably come looking for him eventually, his being A.W.O.L. may cause us unwanted attention. I would recommend we arrange his body to make it look like another gang did this. doing so could work to our advantage rather than disadvantage of gangers looking for us rather than giving them a specific target to act out on. Contact Avare to that end if you wish ... Slavro" he released the button on his ear piece and looked around the open area for further signs of danger.

((EDIT: A.W.O.L. = Absent without leave. A military term for those that didn't know))

Character: Soric Ghast
Location: Team Regent, Sub levels
Situation: Spooked.

Soric steadied his tremblimng hand, steadying his aim. Throne, it was dark here. Suddenly, Soric held up a hand. He thought he heard something moving; he thought he head several things moving.

Holdinh his hand up, the rest of team regent got to their knees. Avare walked up front to Soric

"Trooper Ghast, What is the holdup?" Avare asked.

"I think I heard something moving." he answered. "Possibly more then one. I'll just light up my flashlight."

Soric klicked the egnite switch on the flashlight attached to his chest armor, and the darkness was pierced. To their horror, they saw a bunch of mutants stalking them.

Soric brought up his hellgun, and dropped the first with a blast in the chest.

"Light up!" he yelled, and several more flashlights went on. To their surprise, they saw at least a dozen other mutants stalking them.

"Vrek..." Soric cursed, and took up fire again.

(OOC hope EF doesn't mind, I though of bringing up some action. If you do mind, then just tell me, and ignore this post. )
