Okay your blades, OSL, camo, and weathering are blowing me away.

Consider the back/front for a comms officer officially stolen.

Eyegasming here!!!

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed.

If you are interested in a background story for these guys, the GW book called "victories of the space marines" as a short story referring to a chapter called the "Warbringers", who wear camouflage almost identical to this.
It's a great read and I'd recommend it for some inspiration.
Keep up the good work man!

EDIT: forgot to mention that I love the older models and conversions. I can recognise quite a few from my own collection! I'd also like to see the whole army some day. Perhaps post a picture?

Thanks mate , I'll keep an eye out for the Warbringers book !

I just have too much time on my hands ! :-)
You'll need to do lots of trimming but steal the back/front idea all you like !

Got these bad boys finished today, with the help of a desk magnifier ! What a difference it made (to me seeing not my painting !! )

Glasses I think are required if I'm going to get any better at this lark.

See what I mean , those pics looked focused when I took them ! Bugger

Man that's really cool that you and your kid get to play 40k together. I'll bet you two have some epic battles. The kid does pretty good work too!

Ill bet Big H doesn't give a rats bottom about which codex sucks and who got nerfed as long as he's spending time with his boy. That right there is what it's really all about. Jink nerf be damned!

Gets along better with animals... Go figure.

Thanks mate, I try to keep it to small scale "Adventures" so we don't have hundreds of figures all over the living room. He plays big stuff at the FLGS.

You know what ? I'm a firm believer in common sense and the "rules" are a wise mans guide, not his bible. We chop and change bits so its FUN !

Rules we use are 1st and 6th Edition WHFB and 1st , 4th and 5th Edition 40k. I figure we've bought enough rules for now !

I can't even describe how blown away I am by some of this. Beyond inspired (and you have caused the complete disregard of the idea of painting my marines 'neatly').

You really should do a tutorial on your force swords. The last few are so awesome that I'm probably going to try to repicate the technique.

Love your OSL, too.

Thanks very much dude. In a millennium that knows only war, there's no time to be "neat" !

I'll have a think about a short tutorial, tho in essence I just stole all my "ideas" from other people on Dakka ! NerdFest09 and Eggroll being two very good examples , tho there are plenty of others.

Nice. That's way cool. Have you ever done any tutorials on your camouflage techniques? I've been studying your pictures pretty intently trying to decide how I can adapt them into a snow/tundra/boreal forest camouflage pattern.

I had the same problem when I first started collecting Space Marines in the 80's...then I got over it.

You have done a great job with them, I absolutley love the wear and tear look as true ground fighters should look, I've never seen a clean Grunt in real life so why should a figure of a fighting man be any different?

My last work on my Blood Angels I gave them dirt and mud around their legs and feet, loads of ammo pouches, grenades, and knives. Still kept to the matt red though.

I acutally had a well commo'd scout squad in a group of trees at a tournament, so well hidden I forgot about them all together! Even forgot to collect them at the end of the tournament.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.
