Well that's interesting. Although it does say new rules. So I'm going to assume new wargear, stratagems, or new access to existing models for the majority of the listed factions.

GW is killing it with LOTR. If they just would get all profiles to have model(at least the ones that already HAD a model...) it would be perfect! As it is it's real frustrating to have cool heroes that have HAD model but now have to pay like 40£(if you are lucky) on ebay for them...Grumble grumble. One thing about models that never have had official model. Another where there has been yet you can't get reasonably hold on them...

But rohan house? I'll take several! Saruman and Brima? Just painted one and I'm dying to buy these ones! And hopefully just first taste of what's to come with the supplement...Groovy.

Then just starting to wait for Khazad Dum supplement! With moria and dwarf armies that's one I want as well!

In fact, when the Aspects went from their 2nd to their 3rd incarnation, they went back to the Jes Goodwin designs, whereas the 2nd versions were a departure for quite a few (especially Reapers).

Of course, Spiders have only ever had a 1st incarnation, and are due for a nice new plastic kit with a bit more... dynamism.

Loving the Boneyboys. Cues and influences from Tomb Kings, yet also something nice and new. Only thing I’m not terribly keen on is the intfantryman with the zig-zag gob. Stands out from the overall aesthetic too much.

But overall loving what I’m seeing. I did wonder how Nagash would spin Stormcast. And now we know. The Mortarch is simply superb.

Shrike? There’s stuff I like (the foot claws) and stuff I’m no better than ‘meh’ on, such as the bonce. Would like to see a helmeted version before final judgement.

Plastic Aspects? It’s a about damn time! I’d make a snide comment about ‘hurr durr now wot they whines about’, except a justified complaint cannot be a whine. It’s seriously about damn time some of the game’s most iconic units got plastificated.

Psychic Awakening? I’m intrigued, but slightly disappointed we didn’t see more. Hopefully soon though.

Sisters? Just, wow. Gorgeous stuff.

Necromunda? Much like PA, I’d preferred to have seen more, but hey ho, it is what it is.

Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?

Thousand Sons and Chaos Daemons.

Hmmm underwhelmed. Psychic Awakening is MORE rulebooks for 40k? It's already the most bloated game they have.

Sisters box is cool but depends how many they have made, otherwise it's just a release for scalpels to earn some extra Christmas money....

The new AoS faction seems a bit meh, it's like existing models themed around bones, those multi arm things remind me of the old tyranid Warriors , the horses are Varanguard like.

Warcry expansion is good, I have a fair few monsters in my Chaos armies so getting this will be a no brainer, though a lot of the monsters are direct only so will GW repackage and re release ?

It's a campaign book series. That's exactly what people have been asking for, for the last three or four editions, as a way of introducing new stuff without just redoing codexes. And as campaign material, you'll be free to ignore it if it doesn't interest you.

Think I’ve put my finger on what the main appeal of the Boneyboys is.

It’s that solid dollop of Harryhausen. Catapult, Quadbonces, Mortarch. I can easily see all of them stop-motioning it across the board.

Perhaps not everyone’s aesthetic, but I’m loving it.

Emo Shrike is hilarious. I feel bad for RG players. A friend just said he “looks very Spider-man 3”.... dying!

Smiley undead/fantasy Tyranids. What the heck. Weird. Dislike.

Psychic Awakening not actually properly revealed is a bit meh.

Not the greatest preview, but let’s see what shakes out of it.

Plastic Aspects with no departure from the current style is perfect. No need to make them busier or more over the top. Make them the way they should look, but in plastic. "Not being finecast" is the biggest upgrade anybody could wish for, and the only one that's needed.

Shrike's pose just seems terribly boring. His haircut worse.

Sisters look good painted, Repentia and the elderly lady better too.

But plastic Aspects! Be gone rumourmongers claiming they would all somehow disappear, off with you!

Howling Banshees are my favorite aspect warriors so I am glad they are getting released in plastic first. Also from the sounds of it Jain Zar is going to be released with them. Not only did the text say the word 'phoenix' but the rumor engine showed off what looks like Jain Zar's hair.

So in summary:

Psychic Awakening: Not one book but many (with only two factions each)......oh brother....If I played 40k I'd be pulling my hair out. I am glad they are making new units.....Plastic Aspects are way over due and the Banshee looks really nice.

Shrike: Looks absolutely terrible. One of the worst (possibly the worst) model GW has put out in years. That hair cut is insane, the pose boring, and that feather on his gun that defies gravity? Trash.

Necromunda: Not enough to really judge if you ask me, but it looks like it has the potential to be interesting.

Middle-Earth: I don't play Middle-Earth SBG (have in the past and it's a great game, but I have too many games), but I am happy it is getting continued support. Nice to see a book and some plastics of iconic villains. The Rohan houses look nice too.

Warcry: Meh.....could be okay I guess? I love Warcry and am glad they are expanding it. I think they could add a lot of cool scenarios to fight monsters and new campaigns for each Warband. Mercenaries could also be neat if done like Mordheim. I'm not really jazzed that the Mercenaries they teased are legit AoS heroes....power level is a bit much for Warcry. I think this is one we'll have to wait and see what the quality of the content is. I would have been much more excited to see previews of the Scions of the Flame or the Spire Tyrants personally.

AoS; The Ossiarch Bonereapers look down right terrible. I like the Mortarch and the other caster okay, but the Infantry and Cav look goofy as heck. I'm glad for GW to be trying something new, but these are just terrible (though still better than nu Shrike).

Warhammer Underworlds: This isn't even a teaser. A tournament for next year could have simply been announced in a community article. I'm glad for people that like tournaments, but to advertise like there would be info on Warhammer Underworlds is a bit misleading. Swing and a miss.

Angels of Death: Could be cool I guess?

Sisters: Very nice looking models, and they look great painted, but we have known they are coming for quite a while. Not really a teaser.

Overall a very disappointing series of reveals. I was thinking I might have to set some money aside for some of the reveals today, but I know now I don't have to. Aeronautica Imperialis is more exciting to me than all the rest of this combined.

Shrike : "Cause the galaxy is unfair."

Shrike : "More Depression for the box. Dad is nver going to be so proud."

CR : "Chapter Master but you're a primaris?"

Shrike : "Its just a pain man. I died and now i can't stop cutting myself."

So we get constant redoing codexes AND campaign books

And ignore...yeah right. If you want to shoot yourself in foot. Might just as well play old codex as well. The campaign books will be mandatory for even semi competive armies in the end.

Meanwhile, each book will have powerful and thematic rules updates for at least two Factions, giving you more flexibility than before.

AT LEAST two factions. So it's not as bad. Though wouldn't be surprised if it's "marines+2 other" style and marine players end up having to buy all to get all relevant rules...

Hmmm....

The Psychic awakening? Okay interest piqued.

Howling Banshee: Plastic Aspect Warriors with the current aesthetic is a win for me.

Shrike: Sadly he's in phobus armor which I despise. If I played Raven Guard I'd maybe use it's parts to convert a more traditional looking Shrike with intercessor parts.

LOTR: Color me surprised and happy that the game systems getting some new models.

Ossiarch Bonereapers: These are a miss for me despite my being a big Death faction fan. It just seems un-necessary given how we already have Death-rattle and Soul-blight, which were already under supported. A new death army and we still don't have updated zombies, bat swarms, or fell bats? Really. I also don't really like the new army's aesthetic. No surprise though since I don't like the Mortarch mounts, Morghasts, or even Nagash's armor really.

Sisters: By far the best preview of the lot. They all look great even the much maligned Cannoness and Repentia. If this isn't a limited run box I will be buying many. The occupant of the penitent engine looks a little dodgy. But it should be easy to convert. I it just me or does it look smaller that the older metal ones?

Shrike looks like hes out of the next final fantasy game... like what.

Interesting the 40k legends they've primed that well for when normal marines get shoved in it next codex. Laying the groundwork now so it's not a shock in 2 or 3 years.

Interesting on the job interview skit they had corax at the back with 'have you seen this primarch' wasn't ravengusrd toted to be one of the next supplements and this kooky campaign... looks like hes coming back as some mad loyalist daemon prince 'thing'

Well that was a damp squib, sorry but the only GW game I play is Warhammer Underworlds... so that announcement had nothing of value for me.

That being said I am glad to see that Plastic Aspect Warriors are now a thing. It is baffling that it has taken GW this long! I am very relieved to see that they haven't GW'd the aesthetics (unlike poor Shrike) of the Banshee, they have kept to the original concept, this makes the 90's teenager in me very happy.

The new bone guys wearing bone look like they just walked out a He-man cartoon, this for some reason doesn't get the 80's kid in my excited, and I used to be mad for He-man when I was a kid.

Has anyone else noticed that Shrike has a helmet on his hip, hope there is an option to use that instead of the mask and hair option.

New plastic Sisters... really look nice, and have kept true to the original aesthetic.

Sadly this was for me a very lackluster announcement, for those who enjoyed it, fair play to you.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

Regarding the new skeleton...not-samurai, not-Tyranid, not-Tomb Kings....they're probably one of the biggest misses I've seen GW do in years. What's odd is that the big leader guy is cool, the weird Goro guys are okay. The catapult is...kind of okay. The basic troops though, they are herp-fething-derp in the extreme. I mean, really stupid looking. That's bizarre. I hate to insult GW in this fashion, but the army legitimately looks like something Mantic would release.

Now, my buddies and I were talking and I could see these being far better if someone took the command platform/leader example and went more Samurai? They feel like they have zero actual style or purpose. The bone cavalry are just uglier than what normal skeletal cavalry would be. So, chop all the basic dudes heads off and give them wrapped up Ashigaru heads or something? It's just bizarre how incredibly dumb the basic guys look while the characters look far better.

Inquisition will never get anything new. I think they are being regulated to the fluff only. The one golden opportunity GW had to put out some cool models and make them a playable faction was in Kill Team, but they clearly missed the hint that there are thousands of people out there converting and model Inquisition models for homebrew or old rulesets.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Chapter Master Kayvaan Shrike of the Raven Guard, at the Council of Espos, colourised.

What a howler. The Shrike model would be bad, except it's so comical that I kind of appreciate its existence just to laugh at. Hard pass.

Not enamoured of the new AoS guys. The basic aesthetic of the armour is good, a kind of cross between Samurai and the Nagash/Morghast look, but I don't like that even the basic infantry are "constructs" rather than actual skellies. Also the Riddick ripoff things are hilarious. Pass.

Psychic Awakening was both more and less than I was expecting. I do wish GW would stop threatening us with story advancement though - just establish a status quo already. You'll still get credit from the "waaaah, I need NEW stuff more NEW things it must be NEW or it's TRASH!" brigade for at least a few more years before they begin bawling about things being "stale" again, and the continual "No, wait, THIS is the biggest and most awfulest and most woefulest event that has ever happened to the Imperium that we may not survive...until the next campaign book" attempts at continual stakes-raising just looks silly. This one is a wait & see.

Middle Earth and Warcry aren't my bag.

On the positive side, Legends becoming a kind of permanent Index is certainly better than losing those units and armies entirely, and also better than having them but without any points at all.

The Howling Banshee is perfect. There's zero need to "update" such classic designs as the Goodwin Aspects, all they need is to be put into the modern scale in plastic. If some of them do have to be tweaked slightly in order to dual-kit two aspects in one box - since GW doing 6+ of them in individual boxes for a xenos faction when they need all that shelf space for more Primaris is unlikely - OK then, but otherwise stick as close to the original designs as possible IMO. Really glad to see GW seem to agree on that, at least for now.

The Necromunda teaser was...interesting? It's only a teaser so, eh, not really much of a conclusion to be drawn.

The design for Livia is great, interested to see where they take Angels of Death and if it can stand up against those fantastic fan made Astartes shorts.

The SoB - Sisters of Tennis aside - look incredible. I do hope that the superduperspecialsnowflake box is just their equivalent of the regular limited edition codex however, I want at the models asap but I've no use for 8th codices. That Penitent Engine is proper though.

This, however, is somewhat ominous:
