Keep in mind though these starters will be available elsewhere for around 150 bucks shortly after release, especially on ebay.

They are pretty stunning. I already want more armies.

But I think doing stuff in resin allows them to release stuff quicker, instead of having Japanese/Soviet/British players waiting for months on end for anything new.
I feel that Warlord don't have the resources to do this concept justice. They seem to be hamstrung by a lack of design and production capacity, resulting in sub-par models. Some of the designs are pretty inspired - I love the robot Tommies. But there is a sameness to the vehicles that results from basically just adding a ray gun to the historical model. The fact that most of them will be resin and metal is also unattractive - although their plastic kits tend to be pretty mediocre (compare their plastic vehicles to the Italeri-produced kits).

I agree on the resources comment.
The design concepts are great, and the plastics seem to be let down by traditional sculpting methods and sprue design.
I read a review of the starter plastics (maybe Goonhammer) and the melty details are terrible.
More pieces per model, and using CAD designed models is the way forward for a line that has so much future technology in the minis.
While we seem to have lost some of the soul in the GW-type approach to model design,
having models with variably shaped armor panels on similar armor just looks bad.
I was recently revisiting old Mantic Deadzone Enforcers, and they have similar casting issues that I remember from '90s GW models.
The reviews of the Konflict plastics show these same flaws.
Victrix seems to have avoided such issues, and Wargames Atlantic also seem to have "solved" them.
AMG/MCP/SWLegion also have pushed the plastic molding standard for tabletop minis.
GW aren't the only ones who can do it, so Warlord need to step up their game.

I'm actually glad the tanks are still just historicals with new turrets. I still like to keep some WW2 in me WWW2.
They're already leaning pretty far into my wanting every unit weird and at a certain point you've got to keep some of the historical stuff otherwise you're just another sci fi game.

Oh Lord please no. It's probably inevitable with every company wanting to be GW but we really don't need more line troops with 13+ parts per mini. Especially if they're going to be GW style monopose with minimal options.

Yeah, I don't understand the complaints of the vehicles just looking like WW2 vehicles with a special gun when there's indeed more fantastical designs and it's meant to be a weird war game.
What, you think the Americans are going to design a whole new chassis just for a new gun? No, they are going to slap it onto a Sherman, like they did for the other 50 or so variants.
If this were GW they'd probably put some stupid looking eagle thing on it to let you know that you're dealing with 'MURICA (because subtlety is a lost art, apparently), and I'm happy it's not

I'm all about just sell upgrade guns or upgrade turrets for existing historical tank kits, that is why it's Weird War II, and not a pure science fantasy setting.
I might be biased because I already have just so many Dust Tactics mechs and walkers that I never need to buy another one, but Warlord have a huge WWII historical line of miniatures, of course their game should lean into that. Tank upgrade kits, infantry special weapon upgrade kits with an infantry sprue included to make six crazy gun guys, special characters to lead the army. Encourage people to upgrade their Bolt Action army to a K47 army with a handful of purchases.
And as long as the new plastics are the standard Bolt Action quality, it really ain't that bad. Painting around a slightly unclear detail or division line is really something you just need to do a few times and move on with your life as a gamer.
