Got mine from Battlefield Berlin today, nothing but kudos for them as they did everything swiftly and without fuss, unlike some companies..

Looking forward to building this sucker later this weekend, really looking forward to building something big again.

With all the movable joints and detachable weapon arms on the leviathans, how are people painting these? Do you remove the pieces from the sprue, paint them all, then assemble? Paint on the sprue? Seems like if you assemble and then paint, you will end up sticking some joints that should be able to move, and not getting paint on some areas that are sometimes covered and sometimes not. Plus even the non-poseable parts have some places that might be hard to get to in order to paint once they are together. But it seems like it would be difficult to paint all the little pieces before they are assembled, especially on the 15mm ones. Any ideas?

I'm probably going to leave the armoured plating and the head off for the time being, giving me more access to the stuff underneath.

I had assembled mine and then painted . you should be able to assemble the framework of the leviathan and get the stance how you want it then paint it minus the shoulder pads, head, hood, and armor components in place. then paint those, glue them on, and do touchups.

I primed and painted the armor plates separately, then assembled everything and finished up with weathering. I did the 15mm crusader the same way.

That's what I did too. Though my results are not Dr Mathias level.

I just finished assembling my beowulf/grendel arm... it puts the Eartshaker to shame, that is fo sho. And as Theophony said, you can hot swap the two weapons with minimal fuss... this speaks of a design philosophy far different than the either/or of other dual kit companies.

Me too! I think there are many people who feel this way. All the more the better to get more stuff from Mark when all this is finished.

I assume all hands are on deck at Wargames Factory to mill the Secret Weapons tiles. This could put yet another serious dent on the delay-reduction for Dreamforge Wave 3.

A lovely feeling, and new to me (Sedition Wars, Relic Knights, Raging Heroes, The Gamer: Hands of Fate and the like).
And the Leviathan goes together so well! I barely need glue.

Now that Wave 2 is shipping, I'm sure we'll be seeing some Wave 3 pics soon.

I have this image in my head of Mark sitting in a chair, surrounded by monitors displaying live feeds of all the gaming websites discussing his product. With one hand he twirls his mustache, while the other hand hovers over a big red button, ready to send an image dump of Valkir, APCs, and Stormtrooper command squads out onto the Internet to blow our collective minds. And yet, he holds back, twirling his mustache ever more, a maniacal grin on his face, and a twinkle in his eye, waiting for the opportune moment when pressing that button will turn us all into his drooling minions.

WGF is manufacturing for Secret Weapon, Wild West Exodus, and Kingdom Death. Plus another major company (which I think is common knowledge, but I'm not sure). WGF have had to put quite a few of their own in-house kits on the backburner. I'm really excited to see what is coming down the pipe both from WGF and Dreamforge.

I'm still kinda shocked that the 15mm minis have the same level of complexity as the big 'uns. Screws and a screwdriver? Yikes! Oh well. Once we get the 15mm arms, and the other 15mm one I'll put 'em together.

What is it with people down under and their bottomless self control?

Thanks for reminding me of KD:M. I wasn't in on it, so I keep forgetting about it. Although I hear, in a certain negative thread, that Poot's communication is above par.

And WWX seems to be out the door (I received my address confirmation email) All we need to know is if Wyrd is taking up a lot of resources, are they still shopping for more customers or are they buckling down to get what they have on the backburner out the door. You know which option I prefer, have Black Widows incoming....

When you live in a part of the world where everything is filled with deadly poison and the spiders are able to eat small household pets, people who rush in blindly tend to disappear from the gene pool... That's my theory anyway.

I'd rate Poots as the gold standard at the moment. His updates are stuffed full of details and artwork and just a treat. Not that Mark is chopped liver, but I think circumstances have made it so he has to be a bit more judicious about throwing things out there so that he'll still have ammo to throw out later; plus he's shown so much already it's not a wholly fair comparison. This KS featured a lot of renders which we know will end up being the final product versus a lot of concept art from KD:M. Not to say that there's worry about the product with KD, just that them showing renders is an extra thing they could do to drip-feed their backers.

One would hope that WGF focuses on getting current things out the door. Sooner or later, those new customers will find out about delayed projects doing due diligence and it's just overall better for everyone to not have "well, X project is a year behind schedule" floating around for Google to find. At some point, prospective customers will shy away from a manufacturer that takes too long and that's not a good thing for anybody.

I don't run a factory though, so who knows what way they need to go...

I'd say it really depends on the margins they project on DFG sales. If his products are proving popular, and they carry a complete line with a good ruleset... it'd be like a license to print money.*

For a manufacturer, though, it's weird because we're used to seeing the game and minis go hand in hand, whereas WGF has no game system of its own.

*Not that I advocate such a thing, of course.

Yes, which certainly explains why they've been delayed thus far (credit vs. cash, etc).

However, I do think the Leviathan shown during the KS (at GenCon if memory serves) really put WGF on a lot of these people's radar for well-executed hard plastic goodies. WGF produces some decent kits themselves, but I think their brilliant execution of Mark's equally awesome designs is really what made the compelling case. Prior to DFG, I viewed WGF as just another manufacturer. Since DFG, I view them as a group capable of going toe-to-toe with any other wargames company (with the proper designers, at least).

So the surge in the demand for their services is obviously good. At the same time, they probably don't want to have to explain why DFG isn't out the door this time next year. Even with the assurances that the project was insanely complex (which it is), at some point as a customer I would be leery. "Am I going to end up 'terribly complex' and delayed too?" would hang in the back of my mind and it would give WGF's competitors that opening to get my business instead.

Better all around to have it out the door and say "See? Look at the awesome things we got out even though they were detailed with all kinds of crazy things" and have the prospects oooh-ing and aaah-ing over this cabinet full of win from a number of different lines from cheesecake pin-ups to giant stompy robots and beautiful APCs to big boards. I've been overly optimistic about the campaign thus far, but that's the future I'd like to see pan out.

I haven't followed the other kickstarters much, except to see the total $$$ climbing. Are any of them doing larger kits like dreamforge? Or are they all single sprue/unit sized items?

I think DFG has been the only one I backed that had large units in plastic. WWX had most bigger units resin, if I recall.

I don't know if WGF would be getting some of these new cash customers without the example of the work they can that the Leviathan kit is.

They may owe Mark just as much as he owes them. His kits showed off their capability.
