Hey all.

With some of the pimpin good rumors floating around Mr. Calgar, I thought I should pick him up and add him to my slowly growing ultra-smur...I mean marine army. So I hate the idea of a chapter master going into battle with no helmet, a Sgt sure I can buy that. Maybe a regular grunt who might not be totally there I can understand, but not a chapter master.

So I came up with the following subtle conversion to Mr. Calgar, but I'd like to hear the peoples opinions.

So let me know what you think, I have the bad boy almost completely put together and I need to hear opinions before I got the distance and put this head on and prime him up!

Not sure why, but I'm just not liking that helmet.

Maybe I'm just a fan of the 'regular' Terminator Helmet?

Still, kudos for you for placing a helmet on him at all!

My Marine armies are totally helmeted as well.


(Though this might be because painting skin and eyes isn't something I'm that good at!)

Yeah, it doesn't seem to quite mesh.

I think part of the problem is that it's too plain, while the rest of the armour is covered in bling. Some detail sculpted over the top, or filigree around the faceplate would help.

Additionally, it's too pointy. The rest of the armour is sculpted in flowing, curved lines. The sharp angles on the helmet just don't fit. A regular helmet (with the aforementioned detailing) would work better, as (possibly) would a terminator-ish version of the Honour Guard helmets.

Possibly the company champion helmet from the command squad sprue?

That one is quite blingy, and more rounded as well..

Totally agree on the helmet/no helmet issue btw.

Thanks for the replies, I though for sure the Grey knight looking head would have been a shoe in, I guess I am wrong! I am not bashing the posters who replied, just my own sense of aesthetics is all!

Again, I welcome your opinions and need to make a decision so I can prime and paint these guys up!

I don't like the other three. I do like the first one though, and it could be blinged up easily with a bit of green stuff.

#1's the best of those three, but still not entirely sold.

How about cutting the pointed front off your original helmet, and rounding the front off into a single curved piece? Half of an upright cylinder, basically...

I actually like the first head swap you did. Just a little added extras to make it fit in better me thinks.

First one's still the best. Trim the laurels so they'd be sticking out from behind his head to rest on his crown.

I'm a huge fan of this one, but in all honesty, it's your army. This model will be played by you for god knows how long. So if you were set on the first one that is what you should go for.

I prefer the 1st one you did. The ultra smurfs chaptar master look better with a helmet.

I like the first one myself.

I like the last one.

Well, I finally broke down and made a decision, I chose the last helm! Thank you all for playing =D I'll post some pics later today as he's half primed right now and hopefully will have some color on him by monday...

I really wouldnt recommend the last helmet, i would prefer te first. Even though i would kidna like marnues to be without a helmet, it gives him that special feel that makes him so great and powerful, to bascially fear nothing, even going into the heat of battle without a helmet though

I prefer the termi head with the bionic eye. Although I am kind of biased...

Cool - the Crusade helmet is really nice, although the GK style helmet was my first choice. Hey, Pallantide - what about your Tanith?
