Still following your thread, just haven't posted much.

That was a cool way to display your conversions on the Poxies!

Yeah, works very well on these. A short time in the heat and the guns (I've directed the heat away from the rest of the models) droop under their own weight. A couple of seconds out of the heat and they set in place.

Thanks.
There are. We have a family boardgame night every Friday, so we get through quite a few (although there are regulars).

I've been referencing many photos on the internet, that's the first tip.
They are getting there. Two more to finish and then basing all 5.

Skalk Bloodaxe wrote:Still following your thread, just haven't posted much.

Good to hear, Skalk.
Yeah, I'll probably use similar photos for the final shots.

CommissarKhaine wrote:...Nice one!
But you won't see them just yet...

I've finally got around to doing more work on the Poxies.

Thar' be tentacles...

The first chap has got one to hold the canister.
And the second, very tentacular, chap has had his leg fully converted into a tentacle... and I've added another tentacle for a 3rd leg (channelling Monkeytroll with this one).

Rather than leave this chap's "gas" mask hanging, I chopped it off and placed it in his new little arm's hand and made a new hose to connect it to the tank.

This chap was going to have a longer tentacle, but it was looking too similar to the below chap, so I shortened it...
...and it became... a tentacle. (internet points to those that recognise the tentacle).

And this chap kept the long tentacle, which gained suckers.

The last one has his guts twisting into a tentacle... that at the moment looks a little dodgy from the side (but that's just your dirty imagination).

I think these are up to the small detail stage, then it's painting and/or basing.

What a.....Day. Some sort of day...for tentacles, almost.

Well, can't fault you for tentacles, nice gribbly post.

It has to said, I do like a bit of third leg action to go with the tentacular games. The last guy really doesn't help himself with the raincoat as well........

Thanks MT. Yep, you win some internet points.
Yeah, I'll have to be careful (or not) with how his tentacle is painted. Shouldn't be a problem for any follower's of chaos.

Thanks Graven'. No, I've not done any Slaanesh models... yet. I do have some plans on paper for my own army, but nothing has been fleshed out yet...
Just a few little additions for them and they'll be moved over to the painting desk.

Speaking of painting...
The Scythe figures are all done.
I stuck close to the official artwork for these to maintain ease of recognition on the gameboard.

and with that... photodump...go...

Together with the mechs of their factions (a full 25 miniatures):

And individually:
Olga and Changa (the Siberian Tiger).

Gunther and Nacht (the Dire Wolf).

Zehra and Kar (the Great Steppe Eagle).

Anna and Wojtek (the Bear).

Bjorn and Mox (the Musk Ox).

And the Mechs again, to keep them all together in one post:

As I said, the Poxies are migrating over to the painting desk, and the last of them are getting one final poke with the 3D printer pen before they go.

Notice, if you will, that the Tiger and Wolf both got painted eyes.
Found an interesting way to do them:
Black basecoat as always, but this time it's important,
Paint a light/pale yellow over the eyeball,
Gently scratch off the moist paint with a pointy thing in the middle for a nice small, sharp dark dot/slit.
Done.

The other miniatures all had pits for eyes, so no painting for them. As usual.

Is Scythe's Wojtek based on the real bear that served with the Polish Army during WWII, drank beer and hauled ammunition crates? If he isn't, he oughta be!

Great work, Doc!

Thanks Gits'. It's the animal companion thing isn't it?! I've not seen the movie though.

Thanks MT, Meer'.

As to Wojtek, I hadn't realised the link. Now that you mention it I do remember the story.
It is for the Polania faction, which has suspiciously Poland-flag-like, white and red livery.

A quick update to show the Poxies have been primed and "blacked".

Spot to differences...
I'll certainly have to draw them out in the painting.

Thanks Graven'. Most of the changes, as you have seen, are chopping the arms off at the elbow and shuffling them about; you automatically get different poses. Same for the horns, but it is a less obvious change.

Thanks Scarper. Most of these are kit-bashing and 3D pen squiggles.

Big H wrote:Those animals turned out very realistic mate!
Thanks Big'. The photos do suffer from "extreme close up"-itis. They look even better IRL, if I say so myself.

And the poxwalkers are looking good too, seriously considering one of those pens now !
Thanks. The pen takes a bit of getting used to for "neat" work, but is perfect for Nurgle or 'nid work. Do your research before buying, there's a couple of different filament materials available, and they behave differently, some 3D printers only accept one material. This one I have can do both, but you need to adjust a variable resistor to change the temperature of the tip to do so.

Yorkright wrote: Those Scythe models are exceptional Doc, animals are my favs really shows how good a painter you are.
Too kind. Thanks.
The full set has gone down a storm on the Scythe FB page.

As for the poxies I am looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
Aren't we all?!

Speaking of poxies...

I always find things I didn't know were there when I start painting miniatures.
Things I noticed about the poxies now I've started painting: There's far less clothing on them then I assumed. Some of them only have a loincloth...
If you don't like painting skin, you won't like these. Conversely, if you want to practice skin tones, they'll do you well.

Also, as mentioned with my use of a 'nid arm, GS cult members would be welcome. So much so, that one of these already has a 'nid arm. I just didn't notice until now... even though I've cut that arm off one and moved it onto another. I remember thinking it looked particularly "corrupted", but didn't click until painted.

After a bit of "fun" research into dead body photos, I've done the base tones for the skin on them.
Still have to do the red "sore" areas, and the pustules, and tentacles, and guts, and details like that. This is just the base skin tone.
I tried to give them all a different level of decay/disease, and a few different skin tones etc. to mix it up a bit.

Onwards...

Great start to the skin, the variety of tones along with the arms, horns and tentacles should provide a good mix when done.

Ta, Red'. Another IP that I have not seen, read or heard. I have heard of it though.
But yes, I get the feeling that these "additions" are not natural to the bodies, and am painting them as such.

Thanks MT.

and now with 100% more pustules and soreness... and some veins:

Still have tentacles and horns to do, as well as clothing (what little there is) and little details. As well as the running ooze from the open sores on their bodies.

Thanks York'. Good to hear.

Thanks Graven', MT.

Thanks OMN.
The majority of the weapons are from the original mini's.
If you are referring to the chap with the little arm holding the gas mask, his weapon is the arm and pipe from the 9th original (the 'nid arm holding a 2-handed weapon) and the end is the end of one of the 2 holding guns with blades on the ends (8th original). I'll try to point them out below...

Painting update, slowly working on clothing across the lot of them. Lots of work for little apparent progress.
OMN, the chaps you are looking for are in the 4th photo, at the back (out of focus) the chap with the purple arm (spiky back) and the one next to him (nailed on shoulder pad).

Nothing finished on any of them yet, but something to show.

And the next job on the building desk is for the current LoER terrain contest (should I get it finished) and uses up some things from my box of "use this next" (which is actually 3 boxes, I need to use these things up).

Some background:
Many moons ago, I spent my own saved up money from birthdays and Christmases on a toy I really wanted (for no apparent reason as kids are tend to do); A Terminator 2 Bio-flesh regenerator playset. See below.

This came with a couple of terminator skeletons, a (vaguely) Arnie-shaped mould, and some pink powder that with the addition of water became pink goo that you added to the mould (with the skeleton inside).

Now, something like 2 decades later I'm going to use the mould to make statues (or pieces of statue) and build some terrain about them.

These are plaster casts and will become broken pieces...
I do have one whole cast, made from GS and Milliput, that may be used separately.

That's what I'm starting with... where this goes, I only have a vague idea...

Still contemplating what the "statues" will be built into, but in the mean time...

Most of the clothing done and ready to start the metals. Then it's goo and dirt.
