Just noticed this over at TWS, not too shabby for those marine captains not wanting to get their hands dirty with the filthy xenos or ork bosses who got no time for the humies. Or actually, Deathwing players looking to load up on $20 termi squads or orkses out for $23 for 3 Deffkopta squadrons (me) ...

Coming Sept 6!

Who in their right mind would pay for those bitz? You can buy AOBR for 48 after discount....whereas just the Koptas/Terms together are around 44. I don't understand those prices.

@ Alpha -- Drat, beaten to it afterall. Clearly not spending enough work time shopping right now

@ AoE -- I figure the TWS bits are most useful if you want a whole lot of one thing and you've run out of interested trading partners or really have no interest in the rest of the stuff. Ala $20 terminators and $15 dreads for a cheapo Deathwing.

I think these are just a touch overpriced. Everyone and their brother is going to be buying this box set, so I expect a large surplus of rulebooks.

I am sure I could buy one off of someone here for $10.

As for the rest? *scratches head* I know they have to make money, but this actually is kind of excessive for most things there.

I do however think that those deffkptas will be going up in price from $23. That price wont last long.

Doing preorders is a great idea to gauge how much you need to be clipping though. Good for the warstore there.

I really can't see myself ordering any of this.

Captain? Got plenty of Heroes already!
Tacticals? Can use 10, but need multi-pose...
Dreads? Got 3. *Metal*.
Termies? Don't need - too may Elites as it is.
Orks? Don't play 'em.
Rulebook? If I want one, I'm sure I can get one cheaper locally.

Oh, well.

Agreed, though I've been noticing this ever since TWS put up the Battlewagon Bits stuff that more and more the pricing makes no sense, like a 10.00 bit from a 20.00 box, I'd rather just spend the extra 10.00 and trade off what I don't need.

For me, the lure of a $15 Dread was too much to resist.

I already have a AoBR on order at TWS, and it didn't cost any more shipping ot tack that Dread onto the order.

Also, remember the law of supply and demand.. the prices that they get for bits must imply, that the demand for the bits is there.. someone is buying them! If they were not selling well.. the price would (IMHO) drop.

I've already worked out a deal for a copy of the rulebook for MUCH less than what you're charging. The prices are a bit too high to start with, considering the amount of influx that'll hit the market all at once.

Is TWS doing bits trade in on AOBR stuff? I was thinking of ordering two boxes, and then maybe trading in tacticals or something when my wife founds out what I did. I don't much like the static tacticals, so I figured I could trade in a few sprues of that.
On the other hand, 1-2 one pose tacticals per squad of 10 wouldn't look too bad. And the dreads are just so much fun... Damnit.

Does Neal read Dakka? The BWB prices on the AoBR bits dropped about 20% since this thread was started.

Hehe well, the wife puts up with it fairly well so long as I preface everything with "I got a great deal!" and try and keep the pile of unpainted plastic and metal out of her sight.

I rather like most of the models. I am really tempted to dip the hell out of an ork army, and cheap termies and a dread just scream ... well I don't know what they scream so much as whisper seductively.

I don't begrudge Neal making a profit, and he runs a good business, but I think alot of his 'complete sprue' 'deals' are as good as some of the GW 'deals'. Why pay $10-15 for an upgrade sprue (like the razorback turret), when I can buy the whole thing for not much more?

Rulebook and Termies were each 24.99, the SM Commander was 9.99, the SM Squad was 15.99 (I think, might have been 16.99), the Dread was 19.99 (again, I think, maybe it was 18.99). I do not care about the Orks, maybe they did not change or went up.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Think of this as a way for the Warstore to sell extra copies of their discount Black Reach boxset. As people decide tio go against bits they go elsewhere or buy more boxsets and swap.

$20 for the rulebook is a bit much.

$20 Termies, $15 Dreadnoughts, $13 Tactical Squads are all still great deals.

I've noticed that a lot of people are only thinking of how the prices apply to them when considering why Neal would have such prices. Sure most of us have plenty of Marine heroes, but what of those people who are new to the game?

Agreed on the pricing of the book; expensive. As much as I want it, I'm tempted to sell off the stuff I don't want, keeping the book and potential terrain (does it even come in the box??)

I'd say give it sometime and the paperback rule set will go down, much like a few of the other things. If we are lucky we may get a huge christmas sale that bwbits did two years ago (least I think it was that long ago... *shrug*).

Once the box hits the street, Neal will either be able to sell his bits at the price he's asking or he'll wind up lowering his prices. Since nobody's forcing you to buy his stuff, I don't see what the problem is.

why buy any of this stuff from TWS???

most people in my group are buying one for either the marines OR the orks.

I'm getting 2 sets for $90. swapping out my marines which I dont need for orks, then selling someone the 80 slugga boyz, 1 warboss, 10 nobz, and rulebook for $40

so $40 for 12 deffkoptas, a warboss, 10 nobz, and a rulebook set.

knowing that its possible to swap out ... especially through dakka here why would anyone buy this stuff from TWS?

maybe bitkingdom will be offering them cheaper. would be worth it to check in with nate.

Actually, it is taken into considertaion, atleast by myself.

Neal gets these boxes for less than $40 each.

Absolutely everything in the box will sell, as they are all good models.

$20 for the mini rulebook is just simply too much. $10 or less is equitable. You only need one rulebook, but you do need a bunch more of those models.

Hence a huge surplus in rulebooks, resulting in a deeper discount on those rulebooks.

I do hope he does make a profit, but there is a difference between profit and blatant price gouging.

I hope other Bitz markets follow suit. There is alot more competition now for the bitz market, so we may very well see a much more reasonable pricing for these after perusing bitskingdom, apocabitznow, etc.

Hellfury if it makes you feel any better I am 100% sure that the prices will change once the box set is released and we can better gauge the demand. Bits prices are pretty much demand driven.

Anyways overall I'm sorry if you dont agree with the prices, no one is forcing you to buy anything.

Well... no there isn't a difference. But that isn't the point I want to make.
Your assertion that there will be a surplus of the rule books is questionable. I would assert that there are many who will pay 20$ for the small, portable rule book rather than 50$ for the hardcover. I am not one of them, but in the group up here maybe 20% actually own the hardcover. It seems many see 50$ as too much, since a 20$ rule book leaves 30$ for models, models that do not come in the box. I suspect necron players don't care much for the minis, nice though they are.

Personally, I will probably try and get two of the boxed sets eventually and sell the books myself, but in the opposite case I would have bought a WHFB soft cover book had TWS had them for 20$. As it is I ended up splitting the box with a friend, which is sub par since he only wanted some goblins, and I only wanted the book and templates, so we have some dwarves we don't have a use for.

I think they will too. I think AoBR box set has got to be a bit confusing for someone to price a bitz program. The sheer quantity of models make it seem as though ALL items in the box should be dirt cheap sold individually (Which I still think they are). What I think it going to muddy Neal's numbers is determining how much players will go to him and how much they will buy whole boxes and trade amongst themselves.

Once Neal see which items leap off the shelves and which ones grow a surplus...I think we'll see prices adjust accordingly. I don't think gouging enters into it at all.

I expected a $15 dollar rulebook, personally...as that's what they(BoM minibook) used to go for methinks. I think this one will settle there too once the hype dies down.

I've preordered 2 AoBR boxes from a local Brick N Mortar store and I have to say I'm STILL tempted by $15 dreanoughts and $20 Terminator squads.

Waaagh, for the Emperor, and blood for the blood god...

I think everyone here understands that no one is FORCING anyone to do anything.

I think the surprise was more along the lines of "I'm not sure that (X) will sell at that price" than any sort of draconian gun point hard sell...

One thing to keep in mind is that BWB have always had a pretty stiff markup for individual components. I think Neal simply won't drop his prices to match the people who are going to flood eBay with their remnants from the boxes they buy, simply because it won't make any money. Sure, the prices might drop a bit, but given the time and labor to clip the components, there is a floor under which he can't make money, and that floor might be higher than the market price on eBay.

The eBay price will include people with access to free labor (themselves or friends), people simply selling off one or two boxes, etc.

I'm sure Neal's price will drop, but probably not the extent some people think. I also think people are still going to snap those models up for the price. If you need more then one or two of the squads, buying the whole box might be wise. If you simply only need, say, the warboss, or boys, or some Termies (to fill out heavy weapon troopers), then bitz ordering is going to look good.
