Ok. so my army is sneaky, shooty, and close combaty, in exchange, I don't really use tanks. However, my freind gave, yes gave me a vindicator, and about 1000 points of termies, devastators, assault marines, vanilla marines, a chaplain, and half a landraider (literally).

so, How the hell should I use a vindicator?

1st off treat your friend to lunch.

It sounds like he just rounded out your army and gave you what you'd need for a force that instead of being sneaky, can do a full frontal assault.

My vindicator is good for two main things; #1, Driving up and landing that big @ss-whomping template on a nice expensive unit of something and making it go away and #2, Attracting ridiculous amount of firepower from players were on the receiving end of #1 thus leaving the rest of your army alone to do it's business for a turn.

How is this done? Drive around, fire cannon. Drive around, fire cannon. Drive around, fire cannon. The Vindicator is not subtle.

You can't fix stupid.

Guard armies, for one, can have every single unit Outflank the enemy. It won't work, but you can do it.

An effective sneaky army is another question...

I've made it work for me in small games, especially against tau. They really don't like it when your close combat squads pop up 12 inches away from their fire warriors, and your heavy bolter squads are 24 inches from their kroot, while your devies with rokets line up for potshots against hammerheads. Then the assault marines dash into the fray and its pretty much over. However, its really hard to use effectively against Nids

It works against Tau because they're Tau, but beating them is like beating a quadruple amputee in a decathalon.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

First thing you should do is buy or convert a second Vindicator for when the first one gets shot you can still lob S10 AP2 templates across their lines .

Vindicators don't take much intelligent tactical thought to use.

Step 1 - MOVE FORWARD!

Step 2 - FIRE!!!!

Step 3 - ??????????

Step 4 - PROFIT!!!

It's also possible to use a vindicator in a sneaky way. If you can find a piece of terrain that completely hides it, just park it back there. If any good target comes within 30", drive out and pounce. If not, then you've created a 30" radius no-go zone for your opponent.

Hiding is tougher in 5th, but is a better strat if you have no other tanks. If the vindicator is your only tank, it will be less successful at just driving out and shooting because all the enemy high-str firepower can be dedicated to it. In general, you need 3+ vehicles to have any hope of some of them living long enough to do something.

even if you do hide it it won't stop most people shooting it or sending troops with melta bombs

I can take care of troops with melta bombs, and probably anti tank tanks as well. massed anti tank guns would be a problem though

Vindi's are awesome, ect. In my LRC lists, they make up a major fraction of my force. My list wouldn't be complete without them. Give them PotMS, to start, Dozer Blades(Maybe), and smoke launchers. First turn, move up 12", stay out of line of site of bigger AT problems(If possible), pop smoke. 3rd turn, move up 12", launch that Pie Plate.

DOING IT WRONG!!!!!! Chan speak is so hard, is it not? Generally you want at least 6 steps(3+ actual steps, 4 is repeat step 4(Obviously), and 5-6 are the ????????/Profit ones). Silly NewFag. (Also, don't get on me for this, all channers are fags(Depends which kind), I'm a /tg/ cigarette(Or a fa/tg/amer, if you want to go really far into it. A /k/-cigarette or /k/ommando as well.)) A better version, and truer:

Step 1. Buy it PotMS

Step 2. Move Forward, No matter what.

Step 3. Fire, no matter what

Step 4. Repeat Step 4.

Step 5. ???????

Step 6. PROFIT!!!!

It works much better then you think. Don't know how well it would do in an infiltrating force, but it is worth trying. As someone else said, treat that friend to lunch.

Its not a riddle, it's simply not known by you. It's all refering to 4chan. Its a major thing around the internet, contributing to a lot of modern internet culture. You know if it's work, if not it itself. Google it, if you must. Though, once you dive in, there is no escape.

I stopped reading after Lord Bingo, but for anyone who's ever played an RTS with fog of war or shroud, or has ever had the priviledge of knowing a ref with the time and dedication to run double blind, you know exactly what he's saying. The feeling of a game with no sattelite surveillance scans or invulnerable observation balloons or other devices of omniscient command is just so much...preferable IMHO - to that of a plain old, face up, two players two armies "war" game like 40k, period.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.
