Hi There,

Welcome to Forge World`s 200th Newsletter! This is something of a milestone, but rather than rest on our laurels and reminisce, we`re busy in preparation for Games Day UK, and we`ve some great new releases for you this issue for both the Eldar and the Red Scorpions Space Marines.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Red Scorpions Venerable Dreadnought
New for the Red Scorpions Space Marines, is a MKIV Red Scorpions Venerable Dreadnought, designed by Simon Egan and Will Hayes. Venerable Dreadnoughts are powerful war machines that carry the still-living remains of a worthy fallen hero into battle. Preserved by arcane science, though their living body is shattered they can fight on for centuries in this armoured form as a powerful icon for their fellow Space Marines. This Red Scorpions Dreadnought is fashioned in a truly gothic style and features chapter-specific heraldry and a back banner.

As with our other Dreadnought models, weapon arms must be purchased separately and it is compatible with our range of MK IV Dreadnought Arms which you can see pictured Here.

The Red Scorpions Venerable Dreadnought is available for pre order now for release the week commencing the 22nd of September.

Red Scorpions Assault Marines
Released in conjunction with our forthcoming Imperial Armour book, in which the Red Scorpions see action, are the new Red Scorpions Assault Marines with Veteran Sergeant Culln, and you can see pictures of them Here

This set features four hybrid resin and plastic Vanguard Assault Marines in MKIV armour (the resin conversion parts include, helmets, torsos, shoulder pads and jump packs.) It also contains a fully resin Veteran Sergeant Culln model and comes with both helmeted and bare heads and is armed with a power sword and bolt pistol. These models, designed by Simon Egan and Will Hayes have the same fantastic level of detail as our Red Scorpion Veterans conversion set and form part of our expanding Red Scorpions Space Marine range.

Updated rules for the Red Scorpions and details of their involvement in the brutal conflict on Vraks can be found in the soon to be released Imperial Armour Volume 6. Also astute followers of our books will notice that as the Siege of Vraks happens earlier in Warhammer 40,000’s timeline than the battle for the Aphelion Project found in Imperial Armour Volume 4, and Carab Culln seen here is only a veteran sergeant rather than the famed company commander he will later become!

This set is available for pre-order now for release the week commencing the 22nd of September.

Games Day UK
Games Workshop`s premiere event, Games Day UK will be taking place on the 14th of September, and it`s going to be a great event. Eldar Cobra Type II

Also available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 22nd of September, is our new Type II Cobra super heavy tank for the Eldar which you can see Here. This sleek war machine is a titan-killer without peer, and an unmatched asset for any Eldar commander with an Apocalypse force. Designed by Will Hayes, it`s also a wonderfully detailed and evocative model, whose styling fits in with our latest Eldar Scorpion and Falcon kits.

Rules for the Eldar Cobra can be found in Imperial Armour Apocalypse.

The Cobra Type II is available for pre order now for release the week commencing the 22nd of September.

Imperial Armour Volume 6: The Siege of Vraks Part 2
Don’t forget you can also pre-order our new Imperial Armour book, Volume 6: The Siege of Vraks Part 2.

This book is a lavishly illustrated 208 page colour hardback, and you can see numerous preview page spreads Here. The book also comes with a A1 size, double-sided folded poster, which on one side features some fantastic Karl Kopinski artwork of the Death Korps` march to war, and on the other a tactical map showing the detail of the defence lines and siege works in the citadel war zone. The poster which you can see Here is also available separately, unfolded and shipped in a rigid poster tube.

Inside the book you`ll find a plethora of background information, images and detail concerning the war on Vraks and the warring forces involved, as well as rules and scenarios for re-fighting the bloody battle for Vraks yourself in your own games of Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse, Aeronautica Imperialis and Battlefleet Gothic.

Games Day Availability

So, if you`re after them at the event, the best thing to do is place a reservation order for them to pick up at the show and we`ll try and make sure you get what you`re after!

I LOVE the details on the RS Jump Packs. Really wish they sold them separately as I've got all the other RS bits I could ever need.

Vraks 2 also has my interest for RS fluff. Hopefully someone who pre-orders will post a good review (Looking at YOU HBMC)

Rather than the red scorpions I wish they would do shoulderpads/helmet variants, jump packs for all the main chapters.

The Cobra 2 = cool.

It comes out 2 days before my Birthday. Excellent...

Also gives me a few weeks to save up for it along with the Death Guard conversion kits and Dreads.

Double excellent...

Mr. Burns?

Anyway, RS are nice but I don't understand how GW/FW haven't released older armour sprues. Mk.4 onwards, or something, just torsos and legs ala Dark Angels Vets.

I bet they would make a pretty penny. Still, that Cobra looks awesome, I just don't like the gunner's "cabin".

Could be worse, could have been a pair of gunners on each side. Though each vehicle destroyed would be even more humiliating.

Yeah. me too!

Talk about a license to print money.

Well, even more money...

Probably full sprues/sets of:

MKVI
MKV
MKIV

Maybe a mixed sprue/set of MKIV/V

And then a sprue/set of Mostly MKII and MKIII, with a few MKI's thrown in for flavor.

Not just @ Darrian13 but, to everyone that likes it:

Really?

I don't get it.
It doesn't look Eldar to me. It looks like a second company created a tanks that they wanted people to buy and use in their Eldar armies as proxy for something else.

Eldar vehicles tend towards sleek, visually appealing lines and curves. This one is, to say it lightly, inelegant. It looks like a hovering Baneblade to me.

I'm a fan of the Eldar "look" and this one just looks like an imitation to me.

Blech.

Yeah,
the old "bigger falcon" cobra was silly ... If you look at the Eldar Scorpion Type II it still looks like a falcon but bigger.maybe it's just me but I don't think skimmers really need turrets, they should just sorta slide sideways at speed to face their target while still travelling in the other direction.

the new cobra takes that mark2 chassy, but because it's canon is incorporated it looks much more natural, the only thing i'm fussy about is how the new cobras wing supports the canon it looks like a secondary idea that got bolted on.
Panic..

I think the new cobra is the height of eldar design asthetic. Any one who can take such a large tank and make it look like it still floats like a leaf on a pond impressed me.

i will say this those new Red Scorpions moles relaly tempt me to do an army of them i just don't like them.,.. :/ ah well
the jump packs alone tempt me to buy a squad of red scorps assault marines, the backpacks without Scorp's symbols on would be soo useufl to use for space marine comamnder models etc

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

@JD21290: Just a quick FYI. RS have been around since Rogue Trader. Culln's quoted in the 1st SM list I believe. Plus, it's better than Ultras isn't it?

@Caveman: Me too!! Got a painter lined up and everything. I went with 3 sets of Vet packs though. The rest have standard torsos and RS shoulder pads. Ditto on the doors as well. I picked up the brass etched symbols and they do the trick nicely. I could have saved a load using the smallest symbols for shoulder pads instead of the resin upgrades...

I'm not a fan of the Cobra... think it's the turret... can't quite put my finger on it

I think the reason I don't like the Cobra that much is because the Scorpion is just so damn dead sexy - one of FW's best kits IMO.

It's nice though, and far better than that bulky thing of old. Glad it's finally out.

I wouldn't mind getting ahold of some of those jump packs my self. I've been on an assault marine binge of late, and I guess they are using different modls for their plastic JP's of late b/c the quality of fit of all two pieces of each unit is just crap compared ot what it used ot be. I liked the ones they sold in the packs a few years back, and used to include same with blisters and such. The ones now incorporated into the same molds as the assault marines just fit for gak.

And that eldar tank is just dead sexy. Asymmetrical, hull-mounted (like you are going to miss a titan), flat. To quote an old-school local on the previous version pictured above, "It looks like a pregnant whale."
