Or, rather, and E-mail from Specialist Games. I just got this:
Specialist Games Forum
Transfer Opt-In
Hello,
Apologies for disturbing you, please don't delete this without a quick glance at the following text, it's not spam, honest!
The reason we have contacted you today is because you are currently a member of the Specialist Games forum. As you may or may not know we are changing the way we support Specialist Games, which means that the current website will no longer be updated and eventually retired. You can read more detail about this at the Specialist Games website. We're very keen for the forum, as a thriving community of Specialist Game hobbyists to continue. So, we are handing over the forums to the capable hands of Iain "CyberShadow" Werry of the Tactical Wargames Network , they'll continue to be administered by Lex van Rooy, the current head moderator, and will be run by many of the existing team. The only real difference will be the change of locations.
However, Games Workshop takes the responsibility of looking after your data very seriously. We only hold your email address but we're still not willing to transfer that information to a third party with your direct permission. I hasten to add that Iain's Tactical Wargames Network is a trusted fan site, his servers are secure and he has no plans to sell or profit from your email address other than to make the forum migration as seamless as possible.
If you agree and wish to grant permission for your user account to be moved with the rest of forum then click here to opt-in. If you no longer use the forum or do not want your email address to go to a third party, then you need do nothing; your data will be erased from our server after the opt-in date has expired.
Please bear in mind that once the forum has moved to its new home Games Workshop will no longer claim ownership nor be responsible for the forum or any content generated there.
Click here to opt in: [LINK REMOVED]
For now,
Andy @ Fanatic
Personally I love this bit:
"As you may or may not know we are changing the way we support Specialist Games."
Yes, from 'On' to 'Off'.

Not true, there's no change to that. Games Workshop will continue to not support Specialist Games well into the future.

"But remember that there are over 1000 chapters of spase marienz! So the SM codex has to cover over 1000 different kinds of spase marienz! Codex CSM only has to cover 1 kind (the Chaos kind). And I don't even think Eldar are a kind of spase marienz at all. Hurr!"

It's a company which specialises in the selling of plastic representations of Elves, Goblins, and 9 foot tall superhuman soldiers from the future - have you ever considered that, as adults, it is US that is intruding upon THEIR world?

Every time Specialist Games gets brought up, it makes me sad, thinking of all the lost glories that should have been.
The fact that there is NO 'officially' supported Epic scale game is unbelievable!
Seriously, you can fight a battle with TITANS and multiple super-heavies?
I still cannot believe GW cannot figure out a way to keep an Epic scale game going...

Exactly. Support for SG has been almost entirely lacking anyway. Fans were already basically running the SG forums anyway; now they won't have to worry about Games Workshops rules ("no complaining about business practices," "no talking about core games," etc.) anymore.
I do miss the old Fanatic Online, though. It kept me interested in GW games. As it is, I can barely be bothered to log into Dakka every now and then. Oh well.

This might not be as bad as you think.
Here is a quote from the UK page.
Going Forward
Regular visitors to the site will have noticed a lack of updates recently. This has been because of some behind-the-scenes changes that are now slowly coming to fruition.
As American readers will probably already know, there’s a brand new Games Workshop website that’s gone live recently. This is just the first stage of a global web launch. As part of that plan Games Workshop’s Specialist Game support will be integrated the new site, giving it a much more prominent status than the range currently has.
There’s also other changes afoot – the recent global range review that has been carried out means that Specialist Games products are now widely available in all parts of the world. A feat that has eluded us until now as the many hobbyists in Australia will attest to. We’re also building the range back up again, with Blood Bowl players being the first to gain with team booster packs that will be coming in July. Theses are 4-man blisters with a selection of positional players allowing you modify your teams. There’ll also be a Goblin Secret Weapons blister for all you cheeky greenskin players. The other Specialist Games will also get similar packs in the future.
The new website has no forum provision, however, as these areas on the current site have developed a community and unique character of their own they are also moving to a new home. Under the guidance of Lex (the head-moderator) and with invaluable help from EpiCom’s Cybershadow the forums will be migrating to a new place with the only difference being a change to the URL. Many of the Moderators and Answer-Mods who look after the forum on a voluntary basis will be also making the move to the Specialist Games forum’s new home. I wish all who post and sail in her well!
So, there’s loads happening for the Specialist Games and more to come in the future. However, this point effectively ends the “Fanatic” era of support. This website will no longer be updated as all future material will be published on the new sites. On behalf of Jervis and myself I’d like to thank all the contributors, Fanatic team members from the past (Steve, you're still remembered), and, most importantly, you – the players of the Specialist Games.
For now,
Andy @ Fanatic
I think this may be a consequence of the look they had that led to discontinuing bitz, for the most part. I think they looked at what sells and what doesn't and will be providing some support on those elements of SG that sell. Of course, that would rely in part on them actually releasing the models they describe. Seems they also released some BFG models recently, Adeptus Mechanicus comes to mind.

Indeed. Download any and all content you may find pertinent that you have taken advantage of GW hosting in the past.
Judging by the new US site, that very same content will no longer be there for much longer.
Looks like I got a busy night ahead of me...
