Conversion:

Kaptin Badrukk
Specifics: 3 large back banners, trench coat, layered armour on top of that, large pirate like hat, large impressive choppa, Da ripper (his custom snazzgun) and just about everything about him.
need some ideas where to start and any existig decent models to use as a base.
im sure there was an old rogue trader version of him, but cant find it, and im sure it would be too small.

Waste of points:

10 flash gitz
more dakka, shootier, blasta, 3 ammo runtz, painboy, grot orderly, 9 cybork bodies
led by kaptin badrukk.

590 points

waste of points, but looks good and kicks out some nice shooting

i know other units can lay out more, 39 lootas to be precise, just like the idea of a unit of orkz armed to da teef

Flash Gitz are horrible, for 590 pts you can have 2 full sqauds of 30 boys, nob with PK, 3 Big Shootas. It might be worth it if they had a 48" range. But since it is 24" they are really bad. 1 wound on all of them. Feel No Pain is nice, but put that Painboy into a Nob Squad. 9 Nobs, with Pain Boy, 2 PKs, 7 'Uge Choppas. that spells R A P E!!!! lol.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I was thinking of doing 'Eavy armour with plasticard plates.

As for weapons, I was looking at a box of Lootas, a box of Tankbustas, a couple boxes of Boyz and whatever is in a couple of the Black Reach box sets. There has to be weaponry in there for Tankbustas, Lootas and Flash Gitz.

That + my bitz box with a variety of Eldar and Imperial weapons. I can probably scam some Tau bitz off people, too.

gitz actually get two wounds; they have the full nob statline.

That said, I personally cut a heavy bolter from the razor back in two, and cut off the tops of the 2h axes of blorcs. Painted in flashy gold and added with other gubbins they came out pretty good... Also gluing imperial+tau+ork weapons all together would definetly make the appearance of a snazz gun. Did that with a shoota and a plasma gun too.

That said, considering that even with 2 wounds and a 4+ gitz still suck I play them as lootas =X Badrukk seems dead 'ard, and if I could take him as a Warboss for a squad of shootas I would, but I can't, so I won't.

I picked up about a dozen nobs and 2 warbosses for cheap in an auction. Currently making 'pirates' out of them. I used as many of the nob arm with twin shoota as I could get ahold of, and coverted a few more.

Each model is getting a huge beard, hair, and a hat of some kind. Some of the hair I am modeling as braids/dreadlocks. Roll out a ton of putty into very thin, 1/8" or less, strings. Put a bunch side by side, then make small diagonal indents that run slightly up to the center, same on other side. Repeat for ever until that string looks like a braid, move to next. After this hardens up a bit, fit it to chins or heads.

I'll try to figure out my camera I got for christmas enough to post a picture or two.

Haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do for Badruck. Needs to by an armored figure, with a long sleeved coat, beard, impressive hat, and cigar. working up to it doing his bozy first.

In that sense. the easiest way to do them would be use deffguns to make the weapons. that is what the codex shows. I do think that would be the easiest. Use the Nob heads with the giftfinder. maybe even nobs period for that matter. they are a heavy choice. I think that would be the easiest, and the coolest looking of them all. simple is always the best! IMO

Flash Gitz?

Awesome modeling potential.

Not so effective a unit, though the potential for Flash Gitz to inflict massive amounts of damage to themselves and others is definitely the epitome of Orky technology.

Blorc bodies bashed with regular nob shootaz is great. Add some gubbinz from IG, SM and Lootaz to the shootaz to make them....shootier . I also advise you to cut and file down the chainmail if you use Blorcs. I am also working on some Flash Gitz, my first couple used to be Scar Boyz that I am just going to repaint.

My fluff list is going to have a full unit of Flash Gitz in a Battlewagon, points be damned! So what, it if it's half my allowance...

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

you suggested a pirate hat for the Kaptin, a full pirate theme for the whole unit would be very cool and fluffy. Back in 2nd Ed, GW made quite a few pirate-themed orks - if you can find one of the old catalogs (avaialble online somewhere maybe?) they'd be great inspiration.

Badrukk...welllllll....

A totally bonkers idea would be to use this chappy http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99060213017&orignav=13

He has the cloak, and the Piratey feel. All that needs doing is to convert up a Ripper Gun for him to make it ded Orky, do a head swap, and you are pretty much there.

doc, might have to invest in one
see how big he is, but ithink he will be too big or badrukk.

if all else fails its the AoBR warboss, GS cloak, GS armour over that, then more detail over that, was thinking about using the ogryn bone ead, but once again, not sure on sale.

Pshwah with the too big!

He fits on the appropriate base! Have seen quite a few Ogre to Ork conversions (mostly by my old Manager) and they certainly look the part.

IIRC, the Gutplate is a seperate piece, so you could ever replace with a Jolly Ork Glyph.

Huzzah! And remember, since Flash Gitz are all Nobs (fnarr fnarr!) it only stands to reason that Badrukk should be a big guy.

I would suggest a combination of the easily-obtained Black Reach plastic nobs and some custom-made plasticard sheet/rod big shootas.

I would base the model off of the Shoota boy bodyguards from Dawn of War. They were basically just big nobs with a big shoota-type gun and two big bandoliers of bullets. Basic, but cool-looking!

Putting them on a 40mm base would look cool, but I believe they should technically be on 25mm.

Just some ideas. For Badrukk, the only idea I have is in the Foundry range and I am assuming you are not using non-GW models.

Actually, please suggest (and link!) away, as I (and others, I'm sure) have no problem with non-GW models at all!

sorry, ill only use GW models, has its downsides, but i can use it no matter what.

since i have 3 black reach box sets i have plenty of nobs to chop up.
ive kept 1 warboss, and the other 2 have "donated" thier power klaws to nobs, so ive now got a unit of 10 nobs, and only 2 klaws in the unit :(
anyone know a place that sells em? plastic or metal is fine.

i think for badrukk it will be whats left of the AoBR warboss.
plenty of GS and some plasticard.
main problem will be making him a pointly lookin pirate hat, and he will be based on a 40mm base, the size of him once he is finished simply wouldnt fit on a base.

while im rambling on about that subject, need to know if im thinking right about base sizes (based on what would look right)

badrukk - 40mm monster base
snikrot - 25mm standard base
zagstruk - small flying base

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Forget Badrukk, just use the model as a flash git leasder. I am generally anti flash git but on dry tests I found that they actually do quite well against marines. though the dry test did not take into account combined shooting on a dangerous unit.

The first thing to remember is that the ONLY upgrade you give them is more dakka. If flash gits are ever worth it, they are worth it whwenyou double the firepower for +5pts. the other upgrades only modify the strength of ap, and with a nasty penalty in the case of blasta. The 'plus one' modifier you get is not worth the extra points, it is not a doubling of effectiveness unlike 'more dakka'.

The trick to using flash gits is not to get greedy and try to shoot termies unless you have no choice. Your chances of getting ap3 shooting is good enough for the salvo, your chances of ap2 shooting are not so good. I wiould avoid shooting weaker armoured tyroops than 3+ saves given the choice. A 4+ save, while effective against most of the rest of syour shootinmg can ber dealt with by the standard ork volume fire.

Also dont waste money on a dok and cybork. Sure an invulnerable save is good, but the guns that you are protected against normally instant kill, have low fire volumes you can get cover saves against and are only stopped a third of the time. It's just not worth the extra points.

However remember than each Flash Git is a nob with 'eavy armour in the price. Don't ignore this. Flash gitz are not a shooting unit, they are an assault unit that has decent firepower on the way in and doesn't run. True they are missing the klaw, but they dont cost a lot more than nobz

Flash gits are better than they first appear but are not lootas by any stretch.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Yes, you should be sorry! You're limiting yourself quite a bit, and really are only 'in trouble' in official GW tournaments. Do you find yourself at a lot of those?

Anyway, to the OP who suggested it, please send us the link!

i actually play most tourneys that come up, actually thinking about vegas next year since over here its not so good.

orlanth, how are they an assult unit? if i wanted expensive nobs i would throw em eavy armour and big choppers

that way they get a combat bonus.

I love when people actually do stuff with the Gitz. They're a waste of points but they're that interesting Wild Card that can be fun to play with sometimes. Something that I've always wanted to do is field a unit of Gitz accompanied by Old Zogwort. Something about a teleporting version of the strangest Ork unit gives me goosebumps.
