Check it here: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1290204&prodId=prod1350028
It would seem that the problems have been ironed out and that the spray gun will be released on the 18th of October.

I am kinda sorta amazed though that GW is releasing it without any of the previous fanfare and shouting. Maybe they are preparing to pull them from the shelves again on a short notice.

Uhm, the first wasn't even sold but pulled before it could reach the masses. Some people got it early through mail order and were asked to return it for a full refund. From what I heard consumers weren't the ones complaining about the product, GW was.

To be fair, basecoating your troops with any citadel colour is 50% of an airbrush's charm. Unless you play lots camouflaged of vehicles, as an airbrush owner, I'd give this a go.

Anyone know if you can spray the metallics through the gun? Everything I see about it on the site is always using the foundation paints or the new inks.

I don't know if anyone has figured this out, but its called a can of spray paint. I heard from a guy who heard from another guy that they sell this stuff called spray paint at this place called Home Depot and Lowe's. I also heard that some hole in the wall shop called Wal-Mart also sells the weird stuff called spray paint. Guys, save your money and buy an air brush or canned paint. If you look around, you can find paint cans in any color under the sun. As much as I love GW and all their releases, they are just trying to reinvent the wheel with this thing.

An air spraygun is quite different to propellant cans.
For one, the propellant eats plastic. You have little/no control over the amount of paint that comes out.
Propellant cans are for making home-made bombs and basecoating. Go and look at some larger scale tank-based games if you still don't get it. Spray guns are great. But like everything else GW puts out, it's been done. I've have to try this one before I can say for sure, but chances are it's overpriced and no better than anything else out there. Just get one from eBay.

Yes, Yes, spray cans work just fine. All 3 of these models I painted were done with $3.99 cans of desert color paint cans from AutoZone. I did not use some special sprayer or crazy dry brushing system. All I did is point and shoot. I also placed the $26.01 into my pocket instead of on a plastic spray gun. Oh, I almost forgot about the $8.00 cans of air you need about every 2 coats. Before we start freaking people out about painting with good old spray cans off the shelf, lets do our homework. Not everyone is a great painter, I know I'm not. What I do know is that you can get results just like mine or better with basic paints fount at Wal-Mart, Autozone, Home Depot or any other place that sells spray paints. If you have the skills or the money, an airbrush at Michael's or any other hobby shop will run around $100 to $200 total. That will last you for years if you keep it clean. This plastic crap along with 3 or 4 cans of air along with the new GW paint costs will add up to that in one paint run. I repeat people, do the research and find out for yourselves. Don't buy something that is built to waist paint and money. This new paint gun is built to spit money out faster then you can say "cheap plastic spray gun". Sorry about the rant.

I agree, to an extent. It does look like a very cheap product. In American money, I paid around $400 for my airbrush and compressor. It's great, but at the same time it is reserved for special jobs. I think most people would rather pay $30 (or however much it is over there) just to get their army basecoated in minutes. Sure you can but aerosols for next to nothing, but you can't tell how thick they are, or whether they'll work well with citadel colours on top.
It's just a matter of choice.

Truer words have not been spoken. Let us also not forget about having to buy propellant as well. For some reason I wouldn't put it past them to somehow make the gun "proprietary" and only be able to use GW propellant...how much is that going to be? If a can of primer is any indication, it's going to add up really fast.
Lets assume $10 for a can of propellant. $40 will buy you a full kit of a similar quality gun from Ebay, possibly even with a compressor. After a few cans of propellant you've easily surpassed the cost of a basic gun with compressor.

Most airbrushes can use either, being on canned air does not prevent you regulating the volume of air coming out. While the spray gun is much cruder it should be similar in this regard.

This would be exactly why GW did not go with a big send off for it, you haven't even tried it yet and your already bashing it.
And I would never mix GW paints with that crap you get at Wal-mart and Home depo.
I love how every one just assumes that the propellant cans will run out fast, even tho you can slow it down so you don't waist so much like with the primer spray they sell.

Thanks for assuming I've never tried it or seen it used.
Howard, while it does have the regulating nozzle, it still behaves like a prop can - errantly. It will behave like an airbrush if focused on one spot (but even prop cans do this), making a steadily darker circle, but you can def see that it sucks when you start spraying lines with it. I remember seeing a demonstration of it on youtube when some guy used it to spray his warmachine models to show ya but can't find it anymore.

With a primer spray you should run out of paint well before propellant, if you're shaking it enough before use. The problem with most spraying, areosol or airbrush, is a lot of it ends up in the air and on other surfaces rather than the model, it can't be helped if you're to get an even coat. I wouldn't say the propellant can attached to the spraygun will be the suprise expense for people, it's the paint, because spraying will use a huge quantity as a bottle of citadel paint will go nowhere.

Well it's for maximum coverage rather than precise painting, I assume they don't claim you can do much more than base coat things. You can't expect airbrush quality for £15 or less afterall. I assumed you were saying that you couldn't regulate it at all and you have to spray full power like an aerosol can, if you're right then the regulating nozzle is only for very rough control over application.
Personally I think that if you're only going to use this for white/black undercoating then you're still better off with aerosol cans. Only if you're desperate to base coat your whole army in Liche Purple or something would this be of any use.

The other thing to remember is that you get a drop in pressure when the air in the cans starts to run out, this will cause the paint to spatter. For a smooth finish you need a constant air flow with the output being above a certain psi (35 comes to mind, but it years since I did it last). I think if you want to spray something in a colour not made by GW in a can, then this would work, but I wouldn't trust it above that.

Joker???? How can you say that spray cans don't work? I have used spray cans for the past 2 years, and my models never have a problem. I always paint my armies a base color in a spray can and then do all the details. People have always told me my stuff looks fine and most people wonder how I paint so fast. There is nothing wrong with Wal-Mart paint cans, and they come in 20 or so colors at .97 cents a piece. No splatter, no control problems if you have hands, and it has never hurt my models. Even my highly detailed resin stuff from ForgeWorld comes out great. People, take it from someone who has an airbrush and has used cans. Nothing beats a can of .97 cent color to base your army. Think of it this way. GW Spray gun, $30.00, Canned Air $8.00, 2 pots of paint at least $7.00. That's a total of $45.00 plus tax. Don't forget a second or third can of Air just in case you run out and need to finish that last model's underside that you forgot about. $45.00 can buy you 45 cans of paint from Wal-Mart in any rainbow of colors you want. Crap, I'm looking on ebay right now, and auction number 18029686797 priced at $70.00 comes with a gun, and compressor. Do yourselves a favor and follow this link to ebay and look for yourselves before you waste your hard earned cash.

The reason why the pulled it the first time was because of a faulty part that connects it to either their spray can or a air compressor. I for one plan on buying theirs with one can of air to get me started until i have the money to go out and buy the same small compressor that the guys at my store use themselves.
