So I have a friend who wants to buy some CSM. He bought a bunch of tyranids but he has decided he'd rather play CSM. I have a lot of extra stuff at the moment and I was wondering how much I should charge him for this stuff. Thanks for the help, and as a quick side note this stuff (if painted) is painted to a pretty good quality. Most people I play with say a semi-pro type level but most people I play with just aren't good painters so it's painted well.

1x fully painted (And converted with huge wings) Daemon Prince/Greater Daemon (It is on the larger GD base)
2x fully painted Sorcerers of Slaanesh one with custom familiar conversion.
1x fully painted and heavily converted Disc Sorc of Tzeentcht
22x fully painted CSM, 2x Champ W/ PF, 2x Flamer, 2x IoK
6x fully painted Havocs, 4x HB, 1x Champ w/ PW
10x fully painted Zerkers, Champ w/ PF
Scratch built Chaos Dread primed but unpainted
1x painted and heavily converted Chaos Spawn

He might not need both of the Slaanesh Sorcs. This makes a few different 1500 point lists if he uses the DP model as a greater demon.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

Well it all really depends on the quality of the paint job. If you could post some pics I'm sure everyone on here could help give you an estimate.

if you post pics, it would be A LOT easier for people (well me at least) to give you an accurate estimate.

Building models without magnetic options and painting models anything but very well tends to devalue them.

If it's painted and modelled well you will get more money from ebay than you ever will selling to a friend!!!!!!!!!!!!
You could use the extra money you would earn to help your friend out to buy and paint a new army just how he likes it!!!!

Post pics and we can help!!!!!

since there are no pics to base an opinion on, if you don't take painting inot account, or for that matter reduce value due to BAD painting...
If I am looking to buy stuff for my CSM army I work around the following as a guide, I will pay:
$1-$2 per troop (basic CSM)
$2-$3 per elite or heavy troop (Havoks/Possesed/Etc)
$3-$5 per Terminator or large fig (like a Nid War, or Necron Destroyer)
$5-$15 per Character (lord/Sorc/champ) if modeled well or particularly unique/interesting
$10-$15 per large scale fig (greater demon/prince/etc)
$10-$20 per Vehicle

Some of these values may seem low but if I stay in that range I prevent myself from spending too much and there is ALWAYS someone who's desire for fast cash outweighs the value of their figs so if you are patient and watch Ebay you can get a sweet deal. If you are willing to disassemble and/or strip figs you can get even better deals but that's alot of work for some people. Hope that helps.

If they are, as you say, painted to a high standard for your area and he does not want to deal with ebay, simply charge double what the figs normally retail for. Never underestimate the value of convenience. I personally can paint to a great standard when the muse hits me, but the simple fact is that I don't want to. It takes me an hour to do one figurine. If I can pay somebody double its value to save me an hour, I will, and happily.

For friendly trades and purchases I usually do half retail for unpainted figs, and if I am shelling out painted figs (I never trade or buy painted figs) then I would go up to retail. Which is usually a deal for them as I remove mld lines, do fairly extensive conversions throughout the army and paint to a decent standard.

If it's a firend I usually only look for enough from t hem to fund whatever I'm currently workign on, and rarely even get half retail(but the same treatment usually comes back from them when I want something so it's all good in the end).

Thanks so much. Easy simple if he decides he really wants the stuff. He is just really lazy and I am one of the better painters in our area.

I look at painted models like this:
- bad job to be stripped = half retail (or less!)
- bad job, but metal = 25% off retail
- decent job and playable = full retail
- good job and wanted = 150% retail
- GREAT job and needed = 200% retail

Mine probably fits in the good job & wanted category. But it turns out he might not buy it.
